Day 2 was a "meh" chill day for me. Caught some Zoo Trippin. Magic Giant was the highlight of the day by far. So much energy. We heard some of 3EB while sitting in the shady corner of the VIP. Could not get the fuck out of there fast enough when Griz started. Saw all of Foster and it was OK. Little too poppy for me, but glad I saw him once. Incubus sounded really heavy and good. Better than I expected. Cannot wait for Black Pistol Fire, Manchester Orchestra, Dropkick Murphys, and Jack White today. Fantastic schedule. Zoo Trippin' was actually a lot better than I was expecting. I wasn't planning on seeing them, but ended up going since the schedule changed. I'm really glad I saw them and will probably see them again at urban artifact (even though that is such a small venue compared to who they played for yesterday haha). I went to a NYE show they played a couple years ago, but actually went to see Worn Flints and missed most of the Zoo set. They were quite good yesterday.

So far I’ve managed to dip the dangling part of my three wristband in ranch, salsa, and queso. This thing has too much extra slack.

So apparently Coheed cut their set short because of all the post malone fans being crappy or something? This true? I left for Lecrae after just a few songs.

We were there for most of it, but definitely weren't there for the end. They were great. Always down for some sick shredding. Except all I kept thinking was how friggin hot it must be under all that hair

So apparently Coheed cut their set short because of all the post malone fans being crappy or something? This true? I left for Lecrae after just a few songs. I am inclined to believe it. They played all the hits and were done about ten minutes early. They didn’t say ONE WORD to the crowd. Not even exaggerating, there was not even a hello. Or thank you. Or good night. They rocked hard, played well, sounded great. I liked Post Malone. I just hate his fans. Those little twerps were sitting on the ground during Coheed or pushing their way up front. Oh and my wife’s iPhone got stolen out of her purse. She took some video of coheed, her favorite band, and then I watched her put her phone in the zipper part of her purse and zip it up (I know this because she lost a phone by not zipping her purse so I watch her like a hawk when she puts it away in crowds). As soon as Coheed was done, we turned to leave and were about crushed by Post Malone fans. When we finally broke free of the crowd, she went for her phone and it was gone. Didn’t take her wallet. The phone is now off and I can’t locate it with find my iPhone. Some fuck head has it. We reported it lost/stolen at both info booths so we’ll try tomorrow with corporate. Sadly we sat around the info booth to wait for the crowd to disperse and I counted over ten girls, most crying, that their phones were stolen or lost in the crowd. Some shady shit happening in those pits. Watch yourselves.

It was a great weekend. I could type paragraphs about my lows and highs ... but I’ll save it, at least for now.
About Post — he was fine. Coheed sounded great but the zero interaction was trashy. I wish I hadn’t gotten to Jack so late. He was poop at Shaky Knees last month but he was really good tonight.

That was by far the largest crowd I’ve ever seen at Bunbury. And a good thing they put him on that stage because the Nissan stage would have been a god damned riot. They really need to switch the stages for the hundredth time. You can see so much better at the second stage.

I got there at 4 today. Went immediately to the River Stage for Sir Sly. 45 minutes before, it was packed. I got a seat on the left side though. No idea why they played at that stage. They were great, as were Manchester Orchestra. We walked over to catch a bit of Coheed and it was a mess. Tons of people everywhere flocking in for Post. We bailed and headed back to eat at Chicken Mac Truck (Very good and efficient by the way) and got to Dropkick about 45 minutes before. They were great and dissed Post a couple times, was pretty funny. After Dropkick, we stayed as far away from the mess that was Post. Camped out for Jack. 10th row, great setlist. Great night. That's messed up about the phones at Post, good luck finding it.
Overall, Bunbury 2018 was a success, maybe I'll use that 15% off coupon this week and buy a 2019 pass.

I saw McLovins, Two Feet, Sir Sly, (some of) Manchester Orchestra, Coheed, and Post today. Also some Jack near the end. Some thoughts:
McLovins weren’t too shabby. Homie on drums needs to tone back that shit eating grin a bit though.
Two Feet was awesome. Wish he (they?) had a longer set.
Sir Sly was great, too. I was glad I got to River Stage at like 1:45 because that place fills up fast. That stage is both sweet and trash. Nice views if you get in the bowl, but the bass is intense. Glad I have ear filters. Booze and food is also just a few steps away.
Manchester Orchestra was very good, but I only saw like 20min of their set, because I have a soft spot for Post. Dropkick talking shit about him is unsurprising, but still low as fuck. Post at least puts on a pretty good show for a rap artist.
Coheed was disappointing just because they played to Post fans. I saw people sitting through their entire set — like, several. Against side rail and jist in the middle of the crowd. That’s ridiculous. I can’t really blame them for not speaking to the crowd at all.
Jack was incredible. He was poor at Shaky Knees last month, but he was great today. I really wish I had nabbed a better spot for him/didn’t spend so much time a mile from the stage.
As a laaaast note (for now) — yeah, they need to make Sawyer the main stage. Absolutely stupid that the long and narrow stage (Nissan) is main. Sawyer has way better viewing angles, and is just a big piece o’ land.

We intended to leave early to get to Dropkick and the free food in VIP. That sucks about the phone and the Post fans. We had zero interest in Post, so we just held down a spot until Jack. Dropkick Murphys were a blast and their jabs at Post were pretty hilarious. Either them or Manchester Orchestra were out favorites today.

Jack White blew my face off! He was unreal. So glad Hotel Yorba got played. Manchester and Sir Sly were also excellent. I missed two feet bc of a god damn pro life march that shut down a bunch of roads in Newport.
A couple thoughts on Post Malone/Coheed: Jesus Christ between the Coheed frontman and Post, those are some odd looking dudes. Coheed looked like they were rocking pretty hard, and bunbury definitely shouldn’t have put them on that stage before post. Bad clash of fans, one guy in front of me had a Coheed back tattoo and was getting really upset with all the post fans being annoying during their set. Post Malone was fine I thought, though his voice seemed a little shot. I thought it was weird that there was no DJ or backing band on stage. No props or setups or anything, kind of a boring set In my opinion. Not the worst thing in the world, and made for an easy route up close for Jack White.

I made it out for Saturday for my first Bunbury experience, but wanted to share my thoughts. I've been to festivals all over the country and am glad I finally got to get a taste of what Bunbury had to offer. The production and set-up on the stages was top notch. I haven't heard sound systems that clean and crisp at a festival in a while. I couldn't believe how crisp the goodwas during GRiZ and Incubus. I will say that I think his set would have been better received if he would have played about an hour or so later, coinciding with the sun going down. The VIP area was top notch, and after seeing those acts in the VIP area up front, I'm not sure there is any other way to experience the festival.
Incubus performed the best show that I've seen in my 10+ years of seeing live music. I had a feeling they would put on a good show, but I had no idea what to expect. They absolutely delivered and then some. I haven't seen GRiZ in about 6 years, so it is pretty crazy to see his growth as an artist. He is much more himself and comfortable on stage than he was starting out. Was cool to see Muzzy with him too. I was really impressed with his set other than a few minor mixing errors, which happens. I'm glad to at least see that he is doing things live on stage rather than creating pre-recorded sets and pretending to be working in the live setting.
I have a lot of hope for the long-term success of this festival, but I really think that they need to make some improvements in two main areas: Artist Booking, and Scheduling/PR. It appears that the support is here for the festival, selling out all 3 days even with the issues last minute with Blink, but there are still a lot of ways to make this festival even more well-oiled looking forward. Hoping that they can iron things out and continue growing in the right ways.

Just wanted to give a shout out to all the post fans (posties??) that dropped a hundy for Sunday and made it really easy for me to get up close for Jack White, even if they did ruin the Coheed set. All about finding the silver linings I guess. Also wanted to point out my personal favorite moment of the weekend. When the Dropkick Murphys confirmed with the crowd that the seemingly desolate area across the river from the Nissan stage was indeed Kentucky, then proclaiming them "Hillbillies". As a lifelong Cincinnati resident its just something I genuinely appreciated. This coupled with the weather Sunday I feel produced the day best of the weekend. I may ride this momentum and use the blink discount to get my 2019 tickies that are the same price with the discount as the early bird last year. Perhaps we can get Gang of Youths next year as well as blink??

What did dropkick say about Post I’m curious There were a couple while he was thanking us for staying, knowing we could have gone to the other guy. They said something about always hearing other artists swear and talk about drugs, but they get out and swear like sailors and we're apologizing. But they added that they don't talk about drugs like the other guy....or something like that? The one that kind of cracked me up was that he said he asked his daughter if she liked him (Post), she said yes...so he said "You're grounded" lol

This is my second Bunbury (already bought 2019 tickets) and the Sawyer stage needs to be the main stage. It’s more open and you can see better. My second opinion, probably an unpopular one. I did not like the CVG stage by the river. You were damned if you do damned if you don’t. Sound quality was amazing but I never got to see an artist. I prefer last years set up.

Sunday was great. We were on the rail for Black Pistol Fire. They killed and I got some great pics. Made it down to the other end for Manchester Orchestra, and they were killer as always. Ended up about 4 people back in the front corner of the VIP for Dropkick. They were intense and I got a pick. Making fun of Post and Kentucky was awesome. My kind of guys. I couldn't believe everyone left for Post, but it made it easy for us to be right in front of Jack. This was my first time seeing him, and it was great. I move to never bring Post and his shitty fans back.

What's the "early bird" for VIP tickets typically run? $415 Yeah see outside of the part about not getting elbowed and shoved by people making their way through the crowd I don't know if that big of a difference will make me go that route. The view part doesn't bother me as I felt like I could see everything fine and Bathrooms were actually very accessible for the most part. The Beer prices would be the only thing I would get it for and I think just pre-gaming alone would nix that out. Plus I do like kind of being amerced in all of the atmosphere.
