I guess I get it. If you're a rock historian, this is really a rare event to have a highly successful artist reunite with their unknown original band and hit the road after 40 years. Bunbury is one of the few festivals that were able to book them. That or Bunbury is one of the few suckers that took them up on their offer. It's going to get some national press, that's for sure. It's very "cool" to book such a legend doing a side project. I have to say, I'm kind of excited to see them. I've always wanted to see Petty, and while I know this isn't the same, it will be fun. I think it might also draw an older crowd with Mudcrutch and Tears for Fears, which helps them with their ultimate goal of selling more tickets. The more I think about it, the more OK I am with them being a headliner. I've seen Petty before, but never from the VIP. That should be cool. Plus I have this wet dream that they will come out and play American Girl for the encore and the place will go nucking futs.

This is my first year with VIP, so I really don't know what to expect. Not sure you would get American Girl, as I'm sure there is some sort of issues with using TPATH songs. You might get Don't Do Me Like That since it was a Mudcrutch song before a Heartbreakers song.

I've seen Petty with the Heartbreakers twice and he is really awesome. He's like the outdoor equivalent to Bruce Springsteen. Bruce puts on an amazing show in arenas and really draws the crowd in. Petty does these awesome outdoor shows just jammed packed with hits and genuinely engages with the crowd.

Bunbury says Mudcrutch's 6/3 date as listed on the band's site is indeed a placeholder. Will they really be the Saturday headliner? I was thinking, them saying it's a placeholder doesn't mean they still can't be playing on the 3rd. They could be answering with the question literally with the expectation that most bands (at least headliners) are supposed to use a placeholder date. This would be the first definite they've given for a schedule, and I doubt they would doing such a thing at this point. As someone else said, they are coy and cutesy with their responses rather than direct like that.

Do you think that would mean Grimes would also play Sunday?

Do you think that would mean Grimes would also play Sunday? Not sure. It's possible, but no hints to their date yet.

After yesterday's hot dog tweet, I'm hoping that was a tease about the daily lineup coming today. Think we will get it?

After yesterday's hot dog tweet, I'm hoping that was a tease about the daily lineup coming today. Think we will get it? I'd be nervous about any tweets on April 1st. They could really piss off some people by playing an April Fool's joke. I think the daily schedule release isn't set in stone because it depends on how the 3-day passes are selling. I would imagine the daily lineup coincides with the release of daily tickets. IMO they would wait for the 3 day pass sales to slow down before trying to sell the single day passes.

What was that hot dog tweet all about? Is a hot dog a sandwich? A. Yes B. No C. Release the daily lineup! I voted C
