I feel like I heard someone say they went to this festival last year. What can you tell me about it? I'm considering it this year.

I'm also considering this over bunbury. I just wish the setting was a cool as what we have on the Ohio.

Definitely. My biggest concern so far is lodging, as there isn't really anything nearby.

I haven't checked yet since we just started discussing this. I think we are 100% doing it, it's just deciding between GA and VIP.

They are great and fit right in with the other bands you mentioned.

Has anyone done this fest before? I want to buy tickets, but unsure about GA or VIP.

I haven't, but am considering it. As I've mentioned before, I really want to see Ween at Nelsonville along with a few other bands, but I'm just not sure it's feasible right now as we are purchasing a house and have a lot more expenses than usual the beginning of this year. Nelsonville would require getting some place to stay, where as my wife is from Cleveland and we go up there often enough and always have a free place to stay up there.

Oh sweet! So, it's a singer, not a band. And it's a guy. Lots of people are saying Ed Sheeran, but I guess we'll find out.
I could also see James Bay fitting in quite nicely.

Barns Courtney is the new artist. Never heard of him, but he's playing Napa Bottlerocks, GovBall, and Firefly. Sounds like a good get.

He opened for Fitz and the Tantrums a few months ago at the Madison. He's got a pretty cool voice and a really good band behind him. Wouldn't mind seeing him again.

I went to LaureLive last year. I thought it was pretty well run for a first-year fest. It was super lowkey and chill. Definitely the most relaxed and least crowded festival I've attended. Only three stages, and the two main stages were both on the infield of a track, so they alternated set times. There were a bunch of people who just set up blankets or even chairs in the middle between the two stages and just sat and listened all day. There were a ton of families, and the artists kept their sets PG as a result. Even Elle King somehow made it through an entire set without cursing. Free parking at a couple different sites, and the shuttles from the parking lots ran constantly and never had long lines.
I don't think the VIP would be worth it. My group set up shop on the barricade of one of the main stages, and had no trouble getting in/out for food, water, restrooms, etc.
I'm going back this year. Haven't decided if I'm doing the weekend or just Sunday.
I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you have.

Definitely. My biggest concern so far is lodging, as there isn't really anything nearby. Last year we got an Airbnb in Lyndhurst. It was pretty close to one of the parking lots.

What can you tell me about the food/drink situation for GA? We would likely bring our 4 year old (almost 5 at the time of the fest), so I don't want to pay for VIP if he will want to be out in the main areas where all the family/kids things are.

The food was pretty standard. They had a variety of carnival-type food and drinks (lemon shakes, funnel cakes, pizza, etc.), plus some more slightly upscale options. I remember getting a teriyaki noodle bowl and some pork nachos. I don't remember much about the drinks because they had a water filling station that I used with the reusable bottle I brought with me. They had some activities for kids around the grounds. There were some fitness classes on the tennis courts by the small stage. I also remember someone making those giant bubbles on the infield by the main stages.

Thanks for the info. We are debating bringing our kids along as well (6 and 4). They've done some of bunbury in the past, but this seems like it would be more their style.

I think it'd be a great place to take young kids. It's at an all-girls prep school, so it's about as family friendly of a festival setting as you can get. If Airbnb isn't your style, there's a Staybridge Suites and Comfort Inn in Mayfield Heights and a Hyatt Place in Lyndhurst. Plus, Beachwood has a bunch of hotel options. Last year one of the free parking/shuttle stops was Ursuline College. I'd look for a place near there, rather than the Laurel School itself, since you can't actually park at the school.

Got my tickets. I ended up just doing GA. The price difference for VIP was just a lot, and I contacted the festival about the perks and crowd size. They said 6,000-7,500 people. A fest that small, I'm thinking VIP for crowd size isn't necessary, only perks.
