Bunbury has also been weird for me..... I just don't really care for most of the headliners, and that is OK. I actually ended up really having a good time for Fall Out Boy and some others
Don't get me wrong I like The Killers, and Muse.....etc. It's just not THAT headliner that would make me want to go. I really enjoy the entire lineup. I used to really like the VIP performances that they used to have. I haven't been in a couple years, but I just might head back this year. I am pretty impressed overall.

I think overall, Bunbury looked to make a overall solid lineup. No, there is not GIANT headliner that cost millions and then they have little money to book supporting acts. Instead, it seems them booked some lower tier headliners and then used the money the saved to grab a large handful of popular artists right now. I honestly prefer this setup so I'm constantly entertained with acts I love all day

I’ll go ahead and share my next day thoughts as well. This is a great lineup for a festival this size. I don’t think it’s ever going to really compete with Firefly or Shaky Knees, so for us to compare headliners seems unfair.
That said, the headliners on this lineup do leave a lot to be desired. Jack White is a great get. Fuck the Chainsmokers, I think they’ll push a lot of tickets, but I think it was a bad booking for the fans of this festival. Blink 182 is a good get, but they just don’t excite me since I’ve seen them several times already. I will say that California is the best music they’ve made in many years, though, but all their old stuff just isn’t the same without Tom. Incubus and Post Malone shouldn’t be listed as headliners. They’d be third liners at some of the big festivals around the country. The Killers and Muse are two of my all time favorite bands, so I think I would’ve been disappointed with anything less than Arctic Monkeys this year.
I think overall, this lineup is one of the best lineups they’ve had because the undercard is fucking stacked. I bought tickets early again this year, and I’m glad I did because there is plenty on this lineup for me to have a great weekend. Hell, I had a phenomenal weekend last year and there were only like five bands on that lineup that I actually wanted to see.

I'm with everyone that likes the undercard, but not the headliners overall. Really, there is just the one headliner-who-must-not-be-named that is the most egregious. Jack White is should be pretty awesome. Does he play any White Stripes or Raconteur stuff at his live shows?

(Last time I linked text, I can't tell if it worked. So, I posted the whole thing)
Some interesting takeaways in here.
1) PW state that they wanted to go back to the format, ie mostly rock, that brought out their biggest crowd a couple of years ago. 2) They are splitting up the various acts so as not to concentrate all of one format on a single day. So, they're pushing people to get the 3-day pass.
and most interesting:
3) Stienecker, CEO of PW: "We are kind of at the mercy of who is touring. . . That molds the festival. . .[then describes the return to the rock format]"
Does anyone else read this as "Eh, we did the best we could"? I wonder if they were hoping for something else, specifically with EDM. I missed last year, but I've heard that the EDM day was pretty well-attended and many of us seem surprised at the lack of EDm this year when they made such a conscious effort to incorporate it in recent years. Just from looking at other major festivals not named Ultra, I haven't seen many big name EDM artists hitting the festivals this year (I've only sampled a handful though, maybe they are appearing elsewhere). No mau5, Skrillex, etc.

There's some rocking stuff on there. I don't think any of us would be near as disappointed if FM (Fucking Mike) didn't come around yesterday. Festivals are not about the headliners. The headliners are only there to sell tickets. Festivals are about the undercard, the experience, and finding new music to love. This lineup is worth the money.

No mau5, Skrillex, etc. I've heard this a lot about festivals recently. They seem to be more and more at the mercy of who is touring or who is open to touring/doing festivals. I think the days of getting big names to just show up for a one off or a few isn't likely. Once some of the current acts get older I think we'll see more of that (ala what Paul McCartney, Billie Joel, other big ones do occasionally) but for now it's kind of whoever you have the choice of. That being said, I don't think I dislike the lineup as much as I did when I first saw it. Undercard is stacked. 4 of us are going to go because of the undercard alone so I think it'll be a big success for PW either way.

Yeah, we're going to go ahead and get the 3 day passes this year. I usually come away from the festival really liking a new band or two each year. And it's always a fun weekend no matter who is playing.
Funny enough, Dropkick Murphys was the 2nd concert I ever attended (at Bogart's ~2000). I loved it. Hope they still got it.

The super excitement we had and anything less was going to be an initial disappointment, which it was for most of us. Now that we all chilled out and looked at it again, knowing Mike will not get free beer from any of us, I think we are all seeing just how solid it REALLY is.

I dont know where to put this question so I'm putting it here. Did they do that stupid "load money on your festival pass" nonsense again last year? That was really annoying in 2016. Also, did they have that Miller Lite pop up bar last year? And I don't see any liquor options, did they do away with those all together?

Alt Nation has been playing a chainsmokers song I think, recently. It's not too bad. I'm not sure who they are really...but some people sure don't like them. "Sick boy" I think is the name of the new song Sick Boy is one of the worst songs I've heard in recent memory. It is a ridiculously bad 21 pilots track with somebody who couldn't DJ trying to do something he's even worse at (sing). If you've ever seen a live performance of theirs you'll see just how bad Drew (I think that's his name?) really is. It's one thing to be a press play DJ. It's another to be a press play DJ that adds in a lip syncing toolbag.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm on the rankings Whitneyhouston, you're really throwing off the averages with your gigantic numbers.

I've never really listened to The Chainsmokers before. I'm listening to my Bunbury Playlist on shuffle and the thing that stands out about them to me is nothing.
They aren't terrible at what they do. But they aren't particularly good either. Just really bland. I have no idea how they have gotten as popular as they have. I'm sure I've heard them on the radio and they probably just faded into the background for me. Not bad enough to change it if I like the station, but not stand out in any way whatsoever.

So I thought this was interesting. I spoke to me girlfriends father last night and he’s just a super interesting dude. He said he got to meet the man in charge of AC entertainment and that the man said it has been the goal of LiveNation and AC for the past several years to fold bunbury. The talk of lowering the radius clause is untrue, and they actually expanded it to make sure Bunbury couldn’t compete. He then said he had to hand it to Bunbury because they continually bring back decent acts while competing with the big boys. So good for you Bunbury.

They both own just about every major festival and have put out generally uninspired lineups the past two years and instead of seeing healthy competition as a way to elevate their own products, they’d rather just put it out of business.
