Thank god that Foxy is playing again this year, otherwise I would have felt like I completely wasted my money. Although I'm not real thrilled that I purchased a three day pass at the end of last years festival. I am pretty excited to see YTG again, though. They put on a pretty good show. I've made myself a Bunbury 2014 playlist that I keep adding to. So far there seems to be some hidden gems for this year. I really like X Ambassadors, Morning Parade, Heartless Bastards, Bronze Radio Return, The Orwells, and Royal Teeth. I'll probably be stoned for this, but I just don't understand the buzz around The Flaming Lips.

X Ambassadors and Morning Parade are excellent. I'm really liking a few I've heard from "Snowmine" as well

Kishi Bashi is excellent from what I have heard thus far. As for bands that I know of... OF COURSE Foxy Shazam is always great to watch. But really wanna see Red Wanting Blue again. Been a fan for 10+ years and I love seeing them in this larger setting. Disliking Paramore, the more I listen... ha

There music is mostly directed at people in that state of mind so I think most people at this festival won't "get" them.

This is my opinion from what I've heard. I put all the headliners in must see just because they are headliners and I don't think anyone else will be playing.
Flaming Lips, FOB, Paramore, Foxy Shazam, Fitz and the Tantrums, Young The giant - must sees
Used to fill my time in between the acts above - x ambassadors, The Orwells, J Roddy Walston & The Business, Syd Arthur, Robert DeLong, Wild Cub, Kishi bashi, Bear hands, The Pass
Considering you can usually catch about 4 or 5 full shows a day I hope they spread out the must sees so I can catch 2 a day. If one of the days is loaded it leaves a lot of filler bands on another days.

The Flaming Lips are the best live show you'll ever see. Period. Even if you're not familiar with them, make it a point to at least stay for 30 mins of their set. You'll be hooked by then. Outside of that, Foxy Shazam always puts on an amazing show, as does Paramore and Robert DeLong.
In terms of new acts, I'm looking forward to Fitz and the Tantrums, Young the Giant, and J Roddy Waltson and the Business. I definitely have some research to do on other acts to determine where they fall on my list of "must see" acts.

Going off of what bands are good live... Definitely pencil in Red Wanting Blue. I love em album or live, but many friends of mine dont care for their albums, but will always go to see them live due to their excellent tight live shows. The lead singer is especially fun to watch. Very dramatic and into his music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fa57O2wyHM

Flaming Lips...if it was 10 yrs ago. The singer's voice is awful now. It's really rather sad, actually. I've heard Andrew WK puts on an awesome show, but i dunno if i'd pay to see it lol

There's a reason they've been at the music game for decades now and still remain an "Ohio" band.

You my friend, are f-ing insane and have apparently only been to one concert in your life. Visually, it's good, but the "best live show you've ever seen period" - that's complete BS. Hell Wayne hasn't been able to sing anything right in about 15 years. Also any mention of Paramore voids your music card from hence forth. Now, go find some better music.

Well, this thread went downhill fast. I understand the complaining/concerns in the official lineup thread, but why take a dump in here? Oh well, to each their own I guess.

I've heard Andrew WK puts on an awesome show, but i dunno if i'd pay to see it lol I saw Andrew WK maybe ...10 (?) years ago at Bogart's, when he was actually relevant. Awesome show. Who knew he was still around? And note that he is announced here as "Andrew WK (solo)", whatever that means. Perhaps he'll be by his lonesome self, literally. Maybe he'll do stand-up, a la Henry Rollins (solo). Now that, I would check out!

I dunno... not going. I'm hitting Nick Cave in Louisville a couple weeks before- gonna put all my excitement energy into that - actually that's gonna be mind bending- can't wait! I'm not a big Nick Cave fan (and so no, not going to the 'Ville show). But I was on a business trip to Sydney, AUS late February last year, and when I noticed that hometown boy-made-good Cave (with the Bad Seeds) played the famous Sydney Opera House 3 nights in a row, I just had to check it out. To the box office I went, and I was delighted to hear they had a couple of sets left. Then I heard the ticket prices: $199 for all seats in the house. At that time 1 Aussie dollar was about 1 US dollar. I simply couldn't justify paying that much money to see someone I'm at best a causal fan of. (To round out the story: on the very last evening of my trip, I noticed that Glenn Frey (of the Eagles) was playing a show at the Opera House, and the least expensive tickets were about $45 if I recall, so I held up my nose and bought a ticket. But at least I had the satisfaction of having seen a show at the Sydney Opera House. And to be fair, Frey put on an entertaining show, mixing Eagles tunes and his solo stuff.)

And he has this metal backup singer. Most videos I saw were shot in tiny clubs or basements. The crowd likes it but I'm not so sure I'll be checkng him out.

2 hours at the Nick Cave show will be 1000x better than anything you'll see at Bunbury, the entire weekend. Fact.
