We have The Wombats! Edited to add, a reverse image search on the picture gives us "Wombat Poo" I'm always blown away by these bands. I haven't heard anything they've done but I go to Spotify and see songs with 24, 21, and 11 million plays. How the hell did I miss them? Then I go look at someone like J Roddy Walston and they have a paltry 2.7 million plays on their number 1 song. I've seen them twice, they've got a song in a commercial, and they've played huge stages at Bonnaroo. My scope of influence is clearly skewed!

Even if we are talking about satellite radio. I hear the Wombats and The Neighbourhood on Satellite radio all the time where as I almost never hear J Roddy Walston. People like me and I'm assuming many of the people on this board seek out good music and go see bands based on word of mouth. You know a great live band like J Roddy Walston, but the masses who listen on Spotify have probably never heard of him. Bands like The Wombats and The Neighbourhood hit the same crowds as bands like Walk the Moon do. Whereas bands like J Roddy hit more of a niche crowd. It's the same reason that before Satellite radio and Spotify, Top 40 music was everywhere but only a much smaller section of the world knew bands like The Pixies, Dinosaur Jr, The Violent Femmes and stuff like that. Chances are the bands you know are also bands your friends know and people you talk about music with, but that doesn't necessarily translate to America as a whole.

One of the main reasons I bought Bunbury VIP tickets this year without knowing the lineup. I had never listened to Twenty One Pilots or Reverend Peyton before last year's festival, and now they are two of my most listened to bands. Looking forward to more discoveries this year.
