Hey guys, I've also been on the fence about VIP...I've called the festival & asked if the crowd is split between GA & VIP & they said no. I'm picturing a Coachella crowd where VIP is 100ft in front of GA. I was told that even if I have GA I could be front row for some artists. I'm fine camping out for some bands. Can anyone confirm if you can be front row with GA or MUST have VIP? Also can VIP be upgraded on site? Thanks & see you all there! Also, unless something has changed, you are not able to upgrade on site. In the past, some of the vendors will have contests to get a free upgrade for a day. One of my buddies won one a few years back, but it is nothing to count on

On the map, I'm curious about the "Separate VIP festival entrance." Is it just in the same location as that main big entrance, but there's a separate line or something? Is there also a separate VIP entrance over on that far left smaller entrance? I think that's a closer walk for us where we'll be coming from.

Another VIP map question - Scale is not exactly easy to discern, so I'm curious if anyone can give me an idea of about how many people deep that VIP section in front of the stage is...? Because quite frankly, especially at Sawyer Point, it looks like unless you get yourself into that section just in front of the stage....the rest of that VIP area kind of sucks to watch from. It looks bigger (front to back) at Sawyer Point, which is good...but still, just wondering if it's easy to get into that section if you want to or if it packs up pretty quickly?

If you show up early in the day (before 2pm) you will not have an issue getting in the festival at all.

I was about 40 people back from the vip fence. Hard to tell exactly where the fence is in the picture but I thought that this might help. If i had to guess, I would say the vip area on the right is about 50-75 feet deep

I'm trying to see if I can see where people crush up against something in this one for Death Cab, lol. Either way, it seems like it's not a TON of space right in front...but not everyone in VIP would be trying to crush into there either, I'm sure. Just trying to set my own expectations. My husband makes fun of me at shows because I will keep bouncing around until I find just the right spot :-) Is there like a cement barrier to the left of that first photo from farther away? Looks almost in line with the VIP fence, but on the other side...?

What you are seeing is part of the covered tent that VIP has. I think there is food and shit in there

If I remember correctly, the side part of VIP at the main stage is on a hill so you'd be elevated above the non-VIP part of the crowd. On the Sawyer Point stage there is some slight elevation in the shaded portion, but this is only a few steps above everyone else. However, it did seem that there was a decent amount of space in front of the Sawyer Point stage on VIP. Someone with VIP experience may correct this though.

10/10 will do VIP again. - People were great. I have encountered much worse in the lawn at the LC before. I've been to a LOT of concerts, and that VIP group were some of the most respectful concert-goers I've ever encountered. People would check with us before getting in front of us to make sure we could see alright still. It was to the point where I felt like I COULDN'T push up because no one else was doing it. Which was FINE with me because we had no problem getting a good spot anyway. (more on that and the VIP section size later)
- Having the respite away from the crowds and the guaranteed great viewing spot made it worth every penny to us. Also not having to wait forever for food or fight crowds while doing so. The food was good too! We didn't have any problem with them running out, but maybe we were there early enough...? They varied it each day. I was expecting prepackaged sandwiches or meh food, but it was actually good. And the brownies....I'll be pining for Bunbury brownies for years to come.
- The patio in VIP at the Nissan stage was a great place to take a load off, but not miss anything. We were thankful for it and were always surprised at how easily we could snag one of the few tables for a while. Definitely think they need to add another several tables/chairs to that next year. There was a lot of open space not being utilized and those tables were a great place to be.
- Lots of people saying the VIP section is too big. I think, sadly, it needs to be that big for the headliners. At least at the Nissan stage. Sawyer Point, yeah maybe not. I had lots of room to jump the hell around during YTG, but was more cramped during Incubus in essentially the same spot. Even Dropkick didn't have a TON of space in the back. And actually, now that I think about it, Friday just seemed much less crowded in general...Foster the People was actually kind of packed on Saturday. So maybe if there were some middle ground...? Maybe they could move the barrier back throughout the day or something...? I'm all for a better solution, because I'm sure it's frustrating as a big fan hanging out on the rail only to be behind a bunch of empty space. But later in the day, there was much less space at the back and the size of that section is what gave it its value to us. We were able to enjoy everything else the festival had to offer right up until set time. In addition, it almost fully mitigated the issues with bands ending at the same time others started across the park, which had me highly concerned. There were 4 main bands that gave the festival its value to us. All 4 of them fell into the abutting time slots problem. (2 into each other on 2 separate days). We got lucky with YTG being pushed a bit back due to the rain, and then only had to miss a few songs of FtP to still have a great spot at Incubus. Not sure they can change it without risking VIP losing some of its value, honestly. Unless, like I said, they could shrink it earlier in the day, but expand it as the acts get bigger throughout the day.

I just went ahead and got tickets. After seeing Greta Van Fleet and (hopefully for real this time) blink-182 are a lock, that makes it a no-brainer for me. I was in GA last year and had a great time... I’m looking forward to VIP. I just hope they don’t move the viewing rail by surprise. I’d hate to get VIP just to find out we get less of a viewing area. Either way, see you all in May!

I don't remember the festival looking so empty that late into the day. That looks like I thought 2pm did last year.

I love all the information in this thread, but it seems like most of the people sharing have used VIP to get decent spots while still bouncing around - does anyone have any experience in staking out a spot in the first row? I'm going to be bouncing around 2 of the 3 days this year but I have every intention of planting myself in one place for Fall Out Boy and I don't know if I should plan on getting there way before gates or if I'll be able to stroll up to barricade as long as I'm there when gates open.

Headliners always have hardcore fans. I’d get to the gate before they open to be sure. I’d say your chances of getting a spot later are better with VIP, but since daily VIP is a thing, I’d get to the gates at like noon to be sure. I find it hard to believe people would be there earlier, except for GVF. People camp out for 6+ hours before doors.

Any year? I don’t know for sure with Bunbury, but I feel like most fests I’ve gone to have had daily VIP as an option. Can anyone confirm?

I do not believe bunbury has ever done daily vip They did super early on, but I think that's because they didn't sell it out and wanted to move some tickets. I haven't seen it in probably 4 or 5 years. Or you have to know a band that has daily access. Saw a few wives and girlfriends with single days.
