We all know that Bunbury brings in some great undercards, many of whom you may not have known before Bunbury. So which artist did you discover thanks to Bunbury that has now become a regular on your listening rotation?
For me, it is Twenty One Pilots. I had written them off as a white kid wanna be rapper until I saw them live at Bunbury in 2013. Turned me into a huge fan!
Father John Misty is a close second.
You?

A Silent Film...
Given I am not a HUGE fan of their latest album. Their first two were excellent.

The Decemberists. I was late to this party, having had several people over years tell me I needed to listen to them, just never got around to it. Thanks to Bunbury I had a reason to listen and man am I happy I did. Now one of my favorite bands.

It was an awesome day yet a sad one, I had to bump one of my top 5 favorite bands down to #6 so The Decemberists could have a place

I had heard of them, never paid attention. Wrote them off as some folky indie band that was too into themselves. Man was I wrong! I picked up the guitar and looked up how to play their songs and was blown away. Colin Meloy is a brilliant song writer; they should write a college course on him.
I was super pumped when their last album came out. I finally got to witness a release and have the joy of listening front to back the very first time.

Last year it was Twenty One Pilots. I went to see their hometown show at The Schott last Sept after being introduced to them by Bunbury. I'm also going to their tour twice this summer.
This year I can already say it's Diarrhea Planet. The guitars are very intricate and beautifully done. I know that by June they will be my second favorite band on the lineup after The Killers.

We went to see them at the Schott too. We didn't have tickets, but drove up from Dayton and scored some for face in the lot. We're going to see them in Cinci on the Tuesday before Bunbury.

Oh man, did anyone see Foxy Shazam's 2012 show? Without a doubt the most entertaining show I've ever seen, maybe even one of the best, right up there with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse. Since then, I can't get enough Foxy.

I've talked to Alex several times and they're confident that they'll be together again. Plus, we've got The Skulx, Trolleydodgers to hold us over for now and Eric's solo project, whenever he finishes that.

I was really digging the more theatrical stuff they were doing (sounded like a more metal Queen or something). I felt like there was stuff on their older albums that should have catapulted them into stardom. Music is fickle! The Gonzo album was good but an odd departure. They changed their live look quite a bit for that. And with Steve Albini producing it, I thought it would be their mainstream breakout album. Kind of fell flat and they fizzled and cancelled their tour. What the hell happened??

The songs on those albums played so much better into their crazy live shows. I remember the first time i saw them at The MadHatter (The Dear Hunter opened for them I believe) I was completely blown away by Eric's stage antics.

The Avett Brothers. I'm actually embarrassed that I didn't listen to until I was getting ready for Bunbury. Now I'm kicking myself for all the shows I missed.

If you could see me shaking my head right now.... haha Rightly so! I'm trying to make up for lost time. I saw them again last fall after Bunbury, and I'll be at their show at Stage AE in Pittsburgh in May.
