Hey everyone! The wife and I are looking into traveling for a festival this year (in addition to Bunbury of course). Does anyone have recommendations for festivals they have been to and liked?

Went to Mamby on the beach last year. It's a nice little festival. A bit smaller than Bunbury I thought but it was fun to experience something new (been to Bonnaroo, Bunbury and some local ones here otherwise). The beach part is something that will either be for you or not for you though. It can get dusty and dirty at times but if you dont mind it's fun. The scenery is fantastic. I've been looking for others to look into as well so I'm curious what others recommend.

I highly recommend Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis. Cheap tickets for the weekend, I think I paid $130 last year. Usually a great line up. Memphis is a really cool town to visit to. The festival is right downtown so we would eat the famous BBQ, explore the city, tour some museums, and then head down to the festival for the rest of the day.

Laurelive in Cleveland. Great festival and music, and pretty cheap. I went last year and will return this year assuming I won't be in Iceland.

I don't hate this years lineup but it left me wanting a little bit more so I'm on the fence with Lauralive but overall it looks to be a good fest to go to as a whole. Has anyone ever been to any in Indiana or Pennsylvania?

Summerdance, Nelson Ledges is the greatest venue. Swimming, caves to explore, plenty of trees. Resonance is a nice little hippie vibe fest in September too. I go to Bonnaroo every year because I just can't quit it, but it isn't as good as it used to be.

I'm looking for one as well. I'm usually pretty impressed by Firefly every year, so my wife offered that or Austin City Limits. I'm saying the net out though. I'll likely wait for the announcements, but I'll keep checking here for input

I know people who go to Nelsonville and love it. I've never been, so I can't say for sure. I haven't even looked at their lineup yet.

I know people who go to Nelsonville and love it. I've never been, so I can't say for sure. I haven't even looked at their lineup yet. Nelsonville was on the radar last year. Mainly for Connor oburst. But I've been checking out their lineup for a couple years. Forecastle, Bunbury, Nelsonville are all fairly close together on the schedule I think. Especially before Bunbury changed dates. I monitor those pretty closely. Firefly is my bucket list, but I'm scared for this year's lineup. So, I'm branching out for a perfect (or close to it) line-up for my wife and I. I had HIGH hopes for Laura live this year and I was greatly disappointed.

Nelsonville is the best most laid back festival I've ever been to for everything outside of the music. It's much smaller than Bunbury. You can bring chairs and set up camp at the main stage behind the area where everyone stands and you are still closer than you can get to the stage than you can get at Bunbury.
The lineup isn't out yet. They release it in waves and the first wave should be out any day now. They said early January.
If the lineup suits you I would recommend it to anybody.
Bonus if you rent a cabin in Hocking Hills for the festival. A short drive to the festival. You can come back and enjoy a nice hot tub or all of the cool places for hiking in the area.

That sounds like a HECK of an idea. I love a good hot tub soak. After a music festival sounds AMAZING. Any idea how much to rent a cabin there? I will check later, but if you have an idea... lemme know

We went with another couple and their daughter the last time and split a cabin with a hot tub. It was about $600 for the weekend in total (Thursday - Sunday), but that cabin had three bedrooms. Obviously if you can get three couples/people or whatever to split the cost it gets much more affordable. Just search around. There's options for everyone out there.

I hadn't really planned on taking the kids but I just saw that they are free. I may look more into Nelsonville this year. I may do VIP as well. Ha. DO you happen to know how they handle kids and VIP.

nelsonvillefest.org/kids/They don't seem to mention kids and vip together. They are a very kid friendly festival though. You may want to e-mail them and ask. One thing to note, you have to have tickets for your kids even though they are free. If you buy tickets, make sure and select kids tickets as well.

Is forecastle camping? Wanted to hit bonnaroo this year but I just can’t justify it bc I don’t like the lineup enough. So now I’m looking for another solid festival other than bunbury

So now I’m looking for another solid festival other than bunbury I don't believe there is camping...I remember looking into it last year or the year before and didn't see that option. That could have changed but last I checked I don't believe they did.
