I love Feel it Still. LOL
There's nothing wrong with putting out a catchy tune every now and then. All of their music is great.

My only experience with Portugal was when they came to Columbus about a year ago and I got food poisoning before the show so I was sitting in the lawn trying not to die while we listened. My only issue is that they played a few songs twice...but truthfully I don't remember much of the music

Bunbarians, I have just received terrible news for one of my three sources. As I mentioned earlier, this individual was looking for other jobs a while back and I finally was told that they have accepted another job and will no longer be working with Promowest. I am now down to 2 sources

Does each source provide different type of information or is it all pretty much just them all chiming in with tidbits here and there? (note: do not answer if it will somehow ruin the relationship)

(note: do not answer if it will somehow ruin the relationship) Yes they all give me information about a wide variety of Promowest things. For example, I always know what the CD102.5 Surprise show is each year before tickets are sold. The individual that left was the one that gave me the Bunbury schedule before it was released even though there were some minor last minute changes. Because I do not want to flood this forum with bullshit, I generally wait until I hear the same information from 2 of the 3 sources just to try to maintain validity of the leaks. Here is to hoping I still get good info to help you all out!

Does anyone know why CD102.5 or PromoWest don't do the festival set up behind Express LIVE anymore? They also used to do CD102.5 Day 1 and 2 with like festival like billing. I used to love those.

I went to CD102.5's Summerfest in 2013 and it was fantastic. Matt and Kim, Cold War Kids, Ra Ra Riot, J Roddy Walston and others. I thought it was a great place for a mini-festival.

It’s a fine song to me as well! but obviously the band isn’t too happy with it and I thought it was pretty badass what they did. They definitely had the biggest non-headlining rock set at the festival and it was pretty rock and roll to see them troll everyone I thought. Makes me really excited for their next record

Since this seems to be the only thread alive, I figured I'd drop this here.
The wife and I went to Traveler's Rest in Missoula MT this past weekend. The Decemberists played both nights for almost two hours. Death Cab was there, they played almost the exact same set as they did at Bunbury two years ago (plus one new song I think). They were better at Bunbury. Jeff Tweedy played solo, literally. Just him and an acoustic. It was...underwhelming. There was a small undercard that we kind of skipped because we wanted to go do tubing and hiking in the mountains during the day.
Very cool festival, VERY relaxed. They have designated chair zones, blanket zones, and standing zones, and I'll be damned if people didn't respect it to the letter of the law! Plenty of room to move around, no dick heads shoving, no one camping out main stage. For the first time in my festival history I was like 40 feet from the headliner and could leave to pee and come back and people would let me past. Waaaat. And the crowd was respectful as hell. When the main stage cleared, I looked around and there was literally no trash on the ground...they picked it up themselves!
Missoula is a great town, we had great weather and luckily no smoke from forest fires (apparently a normal summer occurrence). My only regret is that we spent literally 46 hours there. Because getting there is a PITA.

I hate when people set up a damn blanket 2 feet from the barricade and have enough room for a bus to park

I've been listening to the Panic! song "High Hopes" and I'm afraid to admit that I may be turning a corner on them.... I've said this before, I enjoyed their first album when I was in middle school but thought their second album was ass. I saw them open up for Weezer in 2016 and I was absolutely blown away when I hadn't listened to their music in almost 10 years. I was standing in the pit expecting it to be tough to sit through until Weezer came on and boy was I wrong. Brendan Urie's energy is unmatched on stage. They convinced me to buy tickets to see them on their Death of a Bachelor and Pray for the Wicked tours.

I’ve tried several times to get into them and just can’t really. Or are they just a band you’d have to see live?

First, all of the live videos that I have seen of them the guy running the soundboard was dead and it sounds awful but you can get an idea of the energy. As far as songs go (in no particular order): Dont threaten me with a good time miss jackson this is gospel These probably give the best feel of the hard hitting pop rock. They also have a cult following similar to twenty one pilots so booking someone like that is a sure fire way to sell tickets for a festival

I know they have a huge following, a coworker of mine was losing his mind over these new tour tickets. The only song I really know is of course I write sins not tragedies and I can’t ever listen to this song the same after this video lol youtu.be/6W-mCo39OU8

Another note here: I caught Tyler the Creator at Lollapalooza and he was actually a really good and exciting show. He plays almost exclusively his latest album which has more of an alternative/jazz take on rap. And the crowd he drew wasn’t so much high schoolers in jerseys he actually had a really nice crowd. Definitely my favorite rap show I’ve been to I’d be happy if that’s our rap headliner

At one of the shows I was at, Brendan said "I have something special for you guys...we are not going to play I Write Sins" and the crowd went bananas haha. I think that's the song that got them famous and it drives them nuts to play

While I would always prefer to have an alternative rock headliner, I think i would be okay taking him.

Definitely not the crowd but everything else I enjoyed.

Piggybacking on the comments about Panic not playing Sins and Portugal the Man trying to downplay Feel it Still. I think it's kind of a Dick move to distance yourself from your most popular songs. I'm sure a lot of people showed up because those are the only songs they know from them. Pandering to the people who bought the tickets for 3 to 5 minutes of a set rather than essentially insulting the people who show up because they just know you from one song is just lame. Your concerts aren't always being played to a room full of hardcore fans. Especially at a festival. You might get people who have no idea who you are but then recognize a song from the radio they like and check out the rest of your set. Just my opinion. There's a lot of bands out there. You can't know everybody.

I don’t think there’s a right answer to this really

Did anyone go to bellwether this weekend? I’m dying to know how it was, and I heard MGMT got canceled, what was the deal with that? I thought it was pretty good for a first year festival. MGMT was totally canceled forthe weather, but Flaming Lips made up for it the next night by playing one of their songs. Everyone should experience a Flips show at least once in their life. Local Natives killed it Friday night. They are planning on having it next year so hopefully it's bigger and better. Need to cut the prices for camping though.
