Last year was my first year, and it was great, but I was wondering if anyone had some tips for first time Bunbury attendees.

Not really. Bunbury is simply the best festival I've been to overall -- I think. It's not too big. It's not too small. Getting around is relatively seamless. There are a lot of food options, and, somehow, the booze is actually not exorbitantly priced. The VIP section is easily the best one I've seen as far as value, not even close.
I think the only real tip I have is one that I saw on here and glad I tried it -- when entering the festival, 100% try the west gate. There is NO ONE at it. It's like you have private entry. There's absolutely no line.

If you are not from Cincinnati, with the location of this festival, be sure to explore the city and Northern Kentucky when you have time. As for the festival itself, food lines in the past years have seem to be crazy long, so be sure to eat before getting there. At least in my experience last year.

Can't endorse this enough! Outside of the one time we were coming from the opposite side of the city, we always went in through the West Gate. It takes no time, there is no rush or crowd even if you leave right before the headliner wraps up. Also, and this is a something we discovered this year, there are street vendors with $1 snacks outside the gates along the road behind US Bank and GABP! It's like a vending machine a la carte of snack options. Every night we grabbed gatorades and stupid chips and snacks before getting Ubers.

Here are my top tips -As others said, use the west gate - literally no line -Hit the food vendors in off times. Eat a big breakfast/lunch and then dinner around 4-5ish and then eat when you get home. Anytime after about 6, the food vendors are crazy busy the rest of the night -Bring a thermos to hold your beer in so you don't have it get warm (i read that some people were told by security that they could not bring one, but my whole group brought them every day for the last 2 years and had no issues) -Buy those fake sunscreen bottles on amazon and load them up with liquor. Saves $$$$$ and you don't have to leave your spot for a quick drink -If you want to be close for busy shows but show up late, head to the sides of the stage. Your viewing angle won't be the BEST, but you can get damn close. Especially on the main stage if you stand under the trees by the handicap platform -If you have a car parked near the fest, load a cooler up with beer and food. Run out between acts you want to see and refuel for waaaay less than the prices inside -If it's really hot, bring a bandanna or something that you can soak in water and put on yourself to keep cool. Last year I would take my shirt off, soak in water, then put it back on and it would dry in a few hours
