I’ve been asked and asking and got an answer that wasn’t exactly completely clear from Forecastle — what’s the VIP situation like as far as stage views? Basically, who went last year and can confirm, or who has pictures? If Forecastle has a lights-out lineup, I may bankrupt myself and get VIP for it as well, assuming there are good stage views... I’m just nervous about it because it sounds like the stage views are off to the side and not stagefront like Bunbury (Bunbury is a rarity in that regard, I feel like.)
Thanks dudes!

I have heard the Forecastle vip viewing areas are way off to the side and are not the greatest

Can anyone actually confirm that?

I’ve been to Forecastle the past two years, but never with VIP. They have 3 primary stages. The smallest of the 3 doesn’t have VIP. The next biggest one is to the side, but close to stage. I honestly can’t remember where the VIP viewing is for the main stage, but don’t remember it being front of stage. I might be mistaken. You can definitely get up close to stage without VIP, although tough for headliner unless you camp.

This is what I like so much about Bunbury. All I care about for VIP is good stage views.

Hoping someone who had vip last year could chime in. I’ve heard all mixed reviews on it.

I’m leaning toward general + bourbon pass for the AC. And booze. VIP doesn’t sound like it offers nearly enough. For me, at Bunbury, $450ish over three days is only $150 a day to see some (unpopular opinion coming) damn good bands up close. I can deal with that.
$150 to see bands from awkward angles where there’s zero interaction? Pass.

I live in Louisville and have attend Forecastle the past 9-10 years. In my opinion VIP is not worth it. Get GA and Bourbon Lodge passes and call it a day. The VIP viewing areas for the Boom and Mast stages are set to the side and you can get better spots using the non-VIP areas.
It’s also super easy to get spots up close. I actually like that the ‘rail’ is available to the GA crew and not just limited to VIP. Bourbon Lodge is definitely worth it for the A/C and the bathrooms. (And the booze...)
Happy to answer any questions first time Forecastle attendees may have. It’s a great time.

That’s what I was thinking to do if the lineup’s good. Thankya.

Looks like I’m going to Louisville regardless of the lineup.. just threw down $500 on an AirBnB for the weekend. If it’s Arctic Monkeys, Kacey Musgraves, and Vampire Weekend, with a decent undercard, I can dig that!

I looked at/dug deep for Forecastle pics on Google images and the VIP section looks utterly miserable... honestly. For the main stage, the VIP area is sectioned out a tiny part way to the left of the stage, and only about 20 people there would ever get a somewhat decent view of what’s going on.
Maybe I’m stupid, but where’s the value in spending over twice as much on a ticket and having no real benefit? Sure, you get bathrooms, but is that really that important? I use a festroom once a day at most thanks to sweating all the water out that I take in. And if I feel like I really need an AC break, I’ll put $30 down for that bourbon pass. But I feel like Forecastle’s VIP benefits are a complete scam from what I’ve seen.

One per person is good for the festival

The Bourbon Lodge passes are for all weekend. In order to get in to the lodge you need to either have the membership (will give a stainless steel cup) or have 10 tickets (I think they are $1 each).

I would dip into VIP *hard* if the VIP sections took up more area of the stage. Otherwise I don't see the incentive to get it if you're actually there for the music.

Did VIP last year.. thought it was a really good deal. There was not a single time I did not have an awesome view. If u get there around 10 min before set time ur almost guaranteed to get a front 5 row view. I was front row for incubus, royale Blood, and jack white with little effort. Also had free meals all 3 days. Tacos, bbqs, and burgers with sides etc. Half price drinks tequila with red bull were like 5 bucks. I have VIP tickets this year also but am not into the bands much so am looking to sell them both for 750 total. If anyone interested. That's over 200 bucks less than what they cost now. If anyone interested let me know i have a ton of pics and videos from last year if anyone would like to see. I'm selling these so cheap because I had the discount from blink 182 and early bee stacked.

But, still, $750 for two VIP at Bunbury is nada.
