Courtesy Railbird Festival
A brand new music festival is headed to Lexington this August. The Railbird Festival will be held on the grounds of Keeneland and will be put on by the well-known festival producer AC Entertainment, which is also responsible for other popular festivals like Forecastle in Louisville and Bonnaroo in Tennessee. It will take place August 10-11, 2019.
Keeneland officials made the announcement Wednesday afternoon. The musical acts have not been announced yet, but festival planners say it will be a mix of rock, Americana, folk, bluegrass and more. The lineup, as well as ticket prices, are expected to be released on March 25.

This is very intriguing. This sounds a lot like what Forecastle typically brings to the table lineup wise but Lexington is only like an hour from Louisville. I'm honestly really surprised they're doing this. That being said, I look forward to seeing who they book.

Not sure how big this fest will be or the scale of the headliners, but I'm going to speculate close in caliber to Forecastle but maybe a bit below. Worth noting Sloss Fest in Alabama was a clone of Forecastle, but AC killed it off after last year. They share at least 2 headliners every year and about two thirds of the undercard. Some folks on Reddit think it'll be the same deal, but I disagree. Lexington is way too close to pull the same festival, it would never work.
I think potential headliners/subs of this festival could include bands like
Kacey Musgraves Weezer Vampire Weekend Death Cab for Cutie Hozier Sheryl Crow Modest Mouse The National
If they do book a strong number one, I could see it being someone like Chris Stapleton, Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala or Lumineers.Since neither Bunbury nor Forecastle booked her, I'm almost 100% convinced Kacey will headline

I forgot there was a thread on this separately. Anyway, I guess the rumors or guesses from the hints are
The raconteurs Hozier Brandi Carlisle

Yeah, these are three really good gets if true. I still think it needs one strong headliner ahead of those three to make it stand out. But Raconteurs are a strong booking no doubt

Pretty solid for sure.
I am currently trying to narrow down where I am going to try to volunteer. Nelsonville/Bellwether, or Bunbury for my kids! ha

Not for me, but I can appreciate this lineup. Hope they do well. I still believe they need another strong headliner to go with The Raconteurs, but this should draw pretty well. I'll be curious to see if this diverts folks from Bunbury at all. I'm thinking WonderBus will have a bigger impact in that regard, but I can't think that this festival will help either. There's so many options and Bunbury needed to have a really solid lineup to stay competitive. COmpared to others so far, Bunbury just looks like a festival trying to cash in on the popularity of a few hot bands

Have to think it's a decent lineup if it's going to be your first year and you come to Columbus (which has had it's fair share of dreadful festivals in the past few years).

So I just saw Railbird's pricing and it seems awfully expensive. Forecastle's level one was $165 and Railbird's is $140 for two days. That seems like a bit much for who they have booked. Of course, Laurelive charges 125 for 2 days or 85 per day. Also a bit high in my opinion.
