This is where the river stage is moving. They had it here in 2017 and it was an absolute bitch to get around the stage since it made a super narrow path between the river and the stage I figured that's where it would go, but the rep saying it would face the river and be near the bridge arches is a new twist. Wonder what that's gonna look like.

According to WVXU: "The stage will be moved up the steps to the grass, near the Purple People Bridge archways, facing the river" A spokesperson for the festival is also quoted saying they expect about 40,000 over the three days of the event. A far cry from 60k last year. Either the quote is wrong or the rep was wrong, but the stage isn't really near the bridge achways or facing the river. It's facing the Monster stage This news reporter did a quick video and you can see it.

Well they don't usually have the yeatmans cove and river stage times overlap anyway. Some bands might play a bit over their set time but times aren't set up that way with those 2 stages.

It honestly didn't bother me the two years that they did it this way. It was super easy to move back and forth between stages and you could hear the opposite stage from either lawn so you at least got to hear music while you waited for bands. The river stage was really cramped to leave so you would be stuck waiting to exit for like ten minutes.

I can't release the actual number of tickets sold, but I can tell you that it is lower than 40,000. The number I was given was between 25,000-32,000

Is this like a Major League plotline? Drive the attendance down so low that they can move the festival?

Is it 60k unique people or is it like 20k each day? Because I imagine most are three day passes...are they counting those each 3 times and then adding in the single day says?

I know a sell out is 20k per day, that is capacity. 60k total over three days last year, through a combination of one day and three day passes. I assume the 40k estimate was in reference to total attendance over three days. So about 13k a day. Whitney’s number might have included three day passes and one day passes which could be why it’s lower. Or I could be way off base, who knows

I assume a 3 day pass counts as 3 tickets and a 1 day counts as 1 ticket. In short, I think that article was using a lot of "rounding" to fluff it up Even without knowing the exact ticket count, we can fully comprehend that the tickets sales were much much lower since not only did NO tickets sell out, they didn't even raise the prices which they have done EVERY SINGLE YEAR

But I'm not terribly upset right now...I got tickets for pretty far under face value and I will be able to enjoy the festival more with less crowds.

Forecastle counts there attendance the same way, and they typically have 65 to 70k over the three days. I have a feeling they'll draw at least double whatever Bunbury does, possibly close to triple based on your estimate of ticket sales.

I did not get any more details though I wonder if it was another one of their classic “technically true” statements because there will definitely be schedule changes with the weather.
