I ask because I swear to God at least a quarter of people in for headliners don’t have the wristband for it. I guess I’ll just sneak in next year, too.

I feel pretty stupid to have paid for it when the worker people don’t even enforce who comes in or out.

It's interesting you bring this up as I never tried to just walk into VIP. I do remember at Promowest Fest in 2016 bands begged people to fill in VIP so there were rushes of people jumping the fence though lol

People were just wandering in all weekend at main stage. They were checking more diligently at the Sawyer Point stage - which seems totally backwards to me. Most of the perks are at main stage.

That's a bummer if you were someone who paid for it. 2 people in our group got free one day vip passes from a radio station but we didn't check it out since it was only 2 out of our group of 12.

When I saw just how much of the front area or part of one of the side areas VIP was taking up and then them not being full it made me wonder why they don't make VIP smaller, sell less tickets (especially if they aren't selling well) so you can back the stages with more GA people. It's certainly not a great look for festival or artist if there are big portions unfilled. And then to fill them with non VIP people, haha that's not going to get anyone to repurchase VIP tickets in the future.

Yeah I’m on the fence. Pretty sure I’ll almost definitely be coming back, but VIP’s not a sure thing unless I manage a hook up or discount or something. :[

At Promowest Fest in 2016 they moved the VIP gates up about 20 feet after the first day so it's definitely not out of the question

If I were to get early bird VIP for next year just to find out they shrunk VIP, I’d be sort of pissed tbh. If they do that, they need to be upfront about it right away. It’s 100% the biggest perk of VIP. Pretty much the only one for me.

I was told there would be options, and there technically were, but nothing to make a meal out of.

I got pretty close to the front for all of the bands I wanted to see up close without vip. Front row for a few. I don’t see the reason for vip at all. The GA crowd always seems to be more energetic too. ALSO my friend and I came up with an ingenious solution to fix VIP and curate specific crowds that’s almost garunteed to make a splash in the music festival industry in the future. My secret though hehe

I do remember at Promowest Fest in 2016 bands begged people to fill in VIP so there were rushes of people jumping the fence though lol Oh god that was awesome. Colin Meloy of the Decemberists was getting pissed about it. They closed the stage and he was like "just let them in, there's no one else on after us." So people just streamed in and then 10 minutes later cops coming running in to kick everyone out. Colin got super pissed and then destroyed the stage in hilarious fashion.

I was told there would be options, and there technically were, but nothing to make a meal out of. This! The one day they had veggie options, they ran out by the time I got to the front of the line. And I got in line when they started serving. EDIT: I really enjoyed the cheaper drinks, and snacking on the lunch options (hummus, fruit) I could eat. I expected to not be able to eat dinner, got really excited for veggie burgers, then wasted time in line only to not be able to have one.

You used to be able to send someone out for anything that was being sold at the festival and they would get it for you.

The island noodles lines can get pretty wicked sometimes The two years I went they made a big deal about it because the runners were working for tips for charity or fund raising. The first year was a mess because the runners had to wait in line like everyone else; the second year they were allowed to skip lines. THAT was worth it for an extra two bucks.

On the other I do sort of like walking to get the food? More of that festival experience walking around.

There's a lot of things that seemed poorly noted, even past the possibility of consierge. There were some signings I never saw any info for.
As for people getting into VIP, the security detail for keeping people out waw tiny this year given they were understaffed by fifty people. The reason given is due to the Reds and Riverbend sharing staff and taking away from their pool.
Of course, it didn't help that the guy serving our section spent most of his downtime working one girl who seemed mildly interested. Can't hate him, especially as I wingmanned him at one point.

VIP used to actually be amazing. Year 2 of the fest (first year they offered VIP and the year before Promowest bought/started ruining the festival) there was a very small crowd, a nice roomy tent with lots of places to sit, virtually no lines at the bar, and 5 short acoustic sets each day. We got to see Walk the Moon and Twenty One Pilots with a group of maybe 100 people. It was amazing and really felt luxurious. Now it just seems like a cash grab and gets worse every year.

VIP is always a cash grab everywhere. VIP at Bunbury is still far and away the best VIP value in the country. Most fests would charge $1,000+ for a weekend to get access to front stage in VIP. That alone makes VIP incredible to me. Add in $4 booze, some “freebies”, and AC’d bathrooms, and I’m in.
I just wish GA couldn’t get in so easily is all.
I mean, for $420ish, I saw 19 acts. That’s $22.10 per band. As close as I was, that’s nothing. Seeing a headliner up close at a concert can cost several hundred dollars depending on who it is, and it doesn’t have a festival atmosphere.

Still I decent deal... But I can't bring myself to do it after 2yrs of this.
