They Might be Giants have a song titled “It’s Not My Birthday”. Fits the clue.
And they are touring to celebrate 30th anniversary of their Flood” album. Tour concludes toward the end of May and only stop in Ohio is Cleveland.

A stretch but....possibly Marina? (formerly Marina and the Diamonds). Song called Teen Idle with lyrics "I want blood, guts and chocolate cake/ I want to be a real fake" and "the pretty lies, the ugly truth." They were a festival darling like 5 years ago, not sure what she's been doing since then.

Cake has been one of my all time favorite bands for 25 or so years so I have to admit I’m a little biased. I always want to see them. But I have to say that the clue is referencing “The Cake is a Lie” and then they ask, “is it a lie?” If you think that way, the cake isn’t a lie, so the answer is Cake.
It’s not like they are a headliner. They are no bigger now that they were when they played in the afternoon the first time they came to Bunbury.

Image is a still from the game portal that had the viral "the cake is a lie" line. End credits song from that game that referenced it was called "Still Alive." PEARL JAM CONFIRMED do not fuck with me like that. I say Cake (obvious as hell hint, but they have been doing fests) or Jonathan Coulton. |

I think Pinegrove makes the most sense based on the combo of the clue and who is active right now.

I think it's either Pinegrove or Cake and it honestly could go either way. I didn't know about Pinegrove's song Portal until now.
Neither have anything scheduled that time of year. Cake almost never releases more than a few dates at a time, so their schedule doesn't really say anything.
I do question that Pinegrove is on a North American tour that finishes up in February before they go overseas for a month and then don't have another date until August in Portugal.
So neither one of them are more likely than the other by schedule. It's just a matter of which way they meant for the clue to be taken.
