It was just announced that Foxy Shazam will be playing a reunion show on April 11th at the Taft Theater. I think that means they are unlikely for Bellwether, but not impossible. I am totally pumped for this. Love me some Foxy.

Anyone able to clarify... since is just says Nathaniel Rateliff, does this mean no Night Sweats? Is there a difference? Think he will play songs from both? I think the recent tour he dropped the NS. I think the new album might be without them as well. I'm sure he will play both. Not really sure why the "name change" or "dropping" of members was a thing... off to google I go Quick google search, didn't find much but a quote where he says he likes to show how he does things a little differently on his own like how he plays the guitar a little different or his voice may sound a little different. I guess I could just post the quote. ha “I think I always want to see hope in the darkness, and I like to try to share that,” Rateliff says simply. “I feel a lot of my solo stuff is more introspective and honest in a different way than the Night Sweats songs are. I always try to write from a perspective of trying to approach everything very honestly, even if it leaves me vulnerable. But overall, it’s almost like I’m a different character when I’m writing for myself. I like to remind people of what I’m capable of doing outside of the Night Sweats. Even if it’s playing guitar a certain way or using a different voice than I have been using.” www.nathanielrateliff.com/about

Apparently, if you look around you can now get weekend passes really cheap from people who are pissed off and aren't going. I'm not quite prepared to spend $99 on the weekend for this, but I can sure have a lot of fun for $50.

He didn't so much drop the Night Sweats as he just had this solo album building up inside him and he really wanted to tackle it. There's not much of a sample size to see what he plays for an entire show, but the small scaled down shows he's done to promote the record so far doesn't include any Night Sweats stuff. Listening to his solo stuff on Spotify, it's decent stuff, but kind of a bummer for closing out a festival.

Yeah, I bought an early deal for $89 (including camping, which sold me..... they charged a decent chunk to camp last year). I was holding off to see the lineup before I went much further for the wife and some friends. If I can get 1 or more for around $60 or $70, I would be happy with that for sure

In a headscratching turn of events, Bellwhether is suing the Ohio Health Department in an attempt to hold the festival. One of the bands booked, the Cloud Nothings, didn't realize it had not been cancelled and pulled out of the festival. They were subsequently blocked on Twitter. Festive Owl picked up the story, and objectively tweeted the facts of what is going on. That earned him a block from Bellwhether as well.
Based on this erratic and desperate behavior, things don't look good for this festival.

And on their website they claim to also be running Bunbury? That can’t be right since we know Promowest does that. Anyways, these ppl will never see a cent of my money.

He runs ESK Presents. I assume that's what that reference is to, but they definitely don't run it anymore. I always had a lot of respect for Bill (the founder) for giving us Bunbury and building it into a successful entity that PW bought and expanded upon. But damn, I cannot get behind that sort of conduct towards bands and the media for simply trying to figure out whats going on with the festival. Incredibly, incredibly unprofessional.

Anyone heard anything about Bellwether? They done? Unbelievable first two years. Didn’t love the lineup when it was released last year but looking back, it was not nearly as bad as I remember. They definitely effed up with the lawsuit and all but I would love to see them return. No announcements from them leads me to believe it is a dead festival. Hope I am wrong.

What was the lawsuit about? They filed a suit against the State Department of health last summer in an attempt to hold the festival. Word got out and they got a lot of flack, started blocking people, then cancelled and have been silent since.

And it's run primarily independently too right? I wonder if they will quietly try and bring it back next year and kind of try and just put all of that behind them.

I haven't heard anything but it's usually early August which would've been up in the air at the time they would've needed to book things. If they come back I can't see it being before 2022.
