Looks like we have a Saturday Headliner. They didn't specifically say "headliner" but they are listed between Billy Strings and Turkuaz at the top of the poster. Black Pumas will be playing Saturday night. Honestly I don't know much about them. They were nominated for best new artist at The Grammys. Definitely feels like the headliners were hard to get this year. You'd think an act like this would be a second line act even at a festival the size of Nelsonville, but I guess it's the way things are falling this year. There's no way they're the headliner That was my thinking too, but you saw the poster billing. As I edited above they are listed 42nd on Sunday alone at Coachella. Honestly there are enough good bands that if I only watched the Talking Heads set on Thursday it would still probably be worth my time if I didn't even catch another headliner. But still that feels weird.

Honestly there are enough good bands that if I only watched the Talking Heads set on Thursday it would still probably be worth my time if I didn't even catch another headliner. But still that feels weird. I'm guessing they're banking on Black Pumas blowing up this year based on the Grammy nom and venues they're playing (e.g. Mr Smalls in Pittsburgh and Red Rocks with Lord Huron). Looking back at past Sat pre-headliners they definitely feel like they're at the level of Tank and the Bangas and Mandolin Orange. 2017 had Jenny Lewis who's one of their bigger grabs in that slot. I also feel like they would announce if they were a headliner at this point; I really don't think they'd let the Billy Strings thing happen again. Speaking of which, at some point during the fest I may try to chat with an NMF employee and try to find out if they had a Friday headliner fall through and lead to Billy's promotion.

Today's band is a Columbus band called Snarls.
Looks like they fixed the confusion today. Black Pumas has been moved to the first act on the second line of the poster out of the Headlining role. At least we got a pretty clear answer on that.

Today's act may not be an exciting add but a good act and a staple of Nelsonville. Michael Hurley. A folk singer who has played every Nelsonville Festival since 2008.

Add another folk duo to the lineup today with Little Mazarn. Sadly they don't sound like my kind of thing, but you can't see every band on the lineup.

LA LUZ added for NMF and Parquet Courts added for Springsfest! Great day for Ohio fest announcements With that announcement, Springsfest just went from off my radar to the top of my list! I'm not big on GBV, but I've been dying to see Parquet Courts. For $35, I'll check everybody out but it's worth the money for PC alone.

I took a quick listen and wasn't too impressed, but i'll dig a little deeper and see

Gizzard's in Europe during NMF, so unfortunately they're out this year. However, I forget where but on one of their socials they revealed that they tried to book them for Melted this year but were turned down. Hopefully it was just for scheduling reasons and they're able to headline Melted or NMF next year!

I'm considering driving to Chicago to see them when they play there, but I've already spent so much money on concert tickets this year that adding a trip to Chicago may just not be feasible. That would be great if they could land them next year though.

Today's addition is Cedric Burnside. Solid act to add to a solid undercard. I will update the list above.

Wonder if we're back to 3x a week (or less?) announcements. Hoping there's a headliner announced this week at least

Looks like they're going to start announcing again, but today's will be basically a non-announcement - just the late night DJ Barticus who's there every year
There's also the low tier act Feufollet

I'm starting to wonder if they are still having problems securing their headliners. It seems to me that they are doing very little to drum up any excitement for this festival outside of the people like you and I who really listen to the undercards and find bands to get excited about. You'd think that they would be wanting to lock up ticket buyers before those ticket buyers use their money to spend on other festivals or get locked into one of the other semi-local festivals that are happening the same weekend. It just feels odd.

I really hope they have their headliners by now, because like you said I'm sure they're losing out on a lot of people who are trying to solidify summer plans. I'm sure Billy Strings is helping sell tickets to all the bluegrass lovers, but besides Black Pumas they're still missing a big indie act to draw in a crowd. Still crossing my fingers that they land an act like Yeah Yeah Yeahs or MGMT

I got hooked into going to Wonderstruck with my daughter. Had they announced earlier, I was really interested. Maybe next year. This delayed format of announcing makes absolutely no sense to me. Especially with other festivals nearby that same weekend. Can’t imagine they are doing this by choice. Has to be difficulty securing headliners.
Might not matter anyway. I wouldn’t be shocked it festivals start getting cancelled because of the massive flu/cold hysteria.
Some festivals with disappointing lineups and likely poor sales (I’m looking at you Bellwether), now have an excuse to cancel without admitting their product was less than exciting.

I think the festivals into the Summer are probably going to be fine. It's the ones that are happening in the next couple months that need to worry. But who knows? I don't think Bellwether will sell as poorly as you think it will. It's just going to sell to a different crowd than was looking forward to it this year. There's plenty of audience for a mostly Folk/Alt Country festival.

I still have my bellwether tickets and I’m hoping for a good crowd if I end up going. The fact that I cannot sell them on stubhub for even close to their current value concerns me though. The current price is $125 for a three day pass. I’m just trying to make my money back from my earlybird tickets and can’t seem to do so.

As was already spoiled to us yesterday, today's announcement was just a lower card band called Feufollet. Another one I don't personally know anything about but they sound fun.

I missed yesterday's announcement. It was a Columbus rock band called Dawna. I don't know them and I also can't find them on Spotify so I haven't been able to check them out yet.
