Since it was mentioned in the other thread and due to the fact that they are releasing one artist at a time and it's the same weekend of Bunbury I figured I would go ahead and start a thread for this year's Nelsonville Festival. I will try to keep updating this post with the lineup as it's announced for those interested.
Artists so far:
Thursday night Headliner - Turkuaz with Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew - 40th Anniersary of Remain in the Light Tour Friday night Headliner - Billy Strings
Black Pumas Gregory Alan Isakov Ezra Furman Nilufer Yanya Cedric Burnside Jay Som Caroline Rose La Luz Sinkane Michael Hurley Mdou Moctar Lula Wiles Lankum Dos Santos Micah P. Hinson Feufollet Bill Mackay The Minks Little Mazarn Snarls Dawna The Ophelias Golden Shoals

So as not to crowd the lineup post, I have to say I really like this way of releasing the lineup. I know it's hard for all of us who want all of the information now, but I've now listened to Nilufer Yanya and Billy Strings each for about a full day after their announcements.
I'm currently listening to Ezra Furman and I'm really digging his sound as well. He just released his most recent project which was creating the soundtrack for the new season of Sex Education on Netflix.

Cincinnati band The Ophelias have been added to the Nelsonville lineup.
Wondering if we might get a headliner announcement tomorrow to compete with Bunbury's announcement. Would be nice to see.

I'm so torn on NelsonVille. I would love to go, but don't think I have the coin to make it happen. They always seem to have a nice little lineup at announcement and pretty GREAT a year or 2 after looking back. IE.... they seem to really have a knack for finding some acts that are about to make some waves

Another announcement for Nelsonville. Singer Songwriter Bill MacKay.
A bit of info from inforoo it sounds like Nelsonville should be announcing a headliner before too long but it also sounds like they were having similar issues to Bunbury with locking down the top of their lineup.
From user Bikemail who seems to be in the know. At the very least they are announcing acts before Nelsonville does and has been right on the money. As of January 25th "I got word from an NMF employee that the lineup, particularly the headliners, is still in the process of being booked and to be on the lookout for the headliners in about 2-3 weeks. I imagine they've got at least 1 headliner booked by now (Vampire Weekend?) and will hopefully announce them this week, unless Bunbury snagged them."
This was before the Bunbury announcement.... Take it for what it is.

Keeping the additions going...
Today's addition to the lineup is The Minks.
I've never heard of them but I'm digging them. Nice female led rock band. Still waiting on the big names, but I'm finding plenty of stuff to like on the lineup so far.

Another Nelsonville announcement... Mdou Moctar.
If you haven't heard of them, check them out. I don't know how to properly describe the music, so I will let Wikipedia do the talking for me. I will say it's a cool psychedelic rock sound.
Mdou Moctar (also known as M.dou Mouktar; born c. 1986) is a Tuareg songwriter and musician based in Agadez, Niger, and is one of the first musicians to perform modern electronic adaptations of Tuareg guitar music. He first became famous through a subtle trading network of cellphones and memory cards in West Africa.
Mdou Moctar is a popular wedding performer and sings about Islam, education, love and peace in Tamasheq. He plays a left-handed Fender in a takamba and assouf style. He is originally from Abalak and has also lived in Tchintabaraden and Libya.
In other news, Nelsonville has named Billy Strings the Friday night headliner. That's a little disappointing. Makes it seem like they may have lost somebody as well. Still three headlining nights to go to build interest though.

Today's Nelsonville act is Micah P. Henson.
Sounds like things aren't going so well for Nelsonville this year either
More from user Bikemail on the Nelsonville Inforoo board. This is a regular poster who has been right about all of the information he/she has posted before Nelsonville announced it so this person is clearly in the know.
"Well Jason Isbell and Vampire Weekend are both out, so the headliners slots are really up in the air unless Gregory Alan Isakov is the Saturday or Sunday headliner, which I highly doubt. I know they lost out on Brittany Howard to Wonderstruck, so I'm not sure who else is available. It's not going to happen but Janelle Monae would be an awesome headliner and I guess there's a chance Khruangbin get elevated if they're booked, but they still feel like a pre-headliner or Thursday HLner"
All I know is things do not sound like they are going well.

Man what is going on this year?! Some festivals are killing it and others are getting destroyed. I think some are using connections or locking people into exclusives (at least to some extent). It doesn't seem like very many acts are headlining multiple festivals in a weekend anymore. The smaller ones are certainly are taking a big time hit in this new era.

Lost in the seemingly disappointing to some announcement of Bellwether is another name in the seemingly disappointing overall lineup that is building up over at Nelsonville. LOL
Today's addition to the lineup is Jay Som.
Another act I know nothing about but will check out and give it a shot.

It may be that my tastes lie more on the indie rock and psychedelic rock side of things, but even the ~25% of the NMF lineup that's out there is much better to me than what Bunbury and Bellwether's full slates.
Altin Gun and Mdou Moctar are some of the best new psychedelic rock acts out there and Ezra Furman, Nilufer Yanya, Caroline Rose, and Jay Som are some of the best newer indie rock musicians. Even on the folky side they've got Billy Strings and Gregory Alan Isakov who are great at what they do.
I'm hoping their headliners match the quality of the undercard, but they've still got a pretty exciting crop of artists starting out

I'm just preparing for a disappointing top line. I love Nelsonville Music Festival and there may already be enough there to make it worth just getting a cabin in Hocking Hills with a hot tub and just chilling a the festival for a few days but I'm hoping for a bit more.

Today's Nelsonville artist will be no surprise if you have read down this far. Gregory Alan Isakov.
Nice act. I've seen him at Bunbury in (I think) 2012 and again opening for Josh Ritter at the Taft. Both times he put on a nice little show. I would be happy to see him perform again.

Caroline Rose has been added today along with the first look at a lineup poster so far. Billy Strings is the only name listed at the top, so I think that settles any worry that any of the other names listed so far would be slotted in as a headliner for some reason.

I am super excited about the Turkuaz act headlining Thursday night. I am a huge Talking Heads fan and have been dying to see this since the tour was announced.
By the way, unrelated, but sort of related, if anyone else is a big Talking Heads fan I highly recommend Mystic Bowie's Talking Dreads. They are coming to the Ludlow Garage in May. It's a super high energy show and Bowie was a collaborator with Adrian Belew and Tina Weymouth in The Tom Tom Club. The Talking Heads translate surprisingly well into high energy Reggae.

Also of note, I don't really know Dos Santos but in looking them up I see they are playing the Northside Tavern here in Cincinnati on March 27th.

This Turkuaz headlining set has pushed me over the top and got me to pull the trigger on tickets. Remain in Light is one of my favorite albums and I'll probably never get another chance to see Adrian Belew and Jerry Harrison in this capacity again.
I was already familiar with Dos Santos because they were set to play a now-cancelled show at Mahall's in Cleveland this March and got really into their album Logos, so it's great to see them on the lineup. They're on the label International Anthem, which has also put out tremendous jazz albums by Makaya McCraven and Jaimie Branch. Maybe Makaya will also join the lineup since he's at Bonnaroo a week later?

Today's band is Golden Shoals which I could not find anywhere on Spotify but via Google found out they were formerly named Hoot and Holler. They have a nice Bluegrassy sound to them. Also upgraded the poster so I will do the same for the above list.

Today Nelsonville adds Sinkane to the list. If you don't know him I will let Wikipedia describe him in a sentence... Sinkane is a Sudanese-American musician who blends krautrock, prog rock, electronica, free jazz and funk rock with Sudanese pop. Just your standard bubblegum pop / top 40.... I'm kidding of course. I like him though. Got a real nice groove.

Looks like we have a Saturday Headliner. They didn't specifically say "headliner" but they are listed between Billy Strings and Turkuaz at the top of the poster.
Black Pumas will be playing Saturday night. Honestly I don't know much about them. They were nominated for best new artist at The Grammys. Definitely feels like the headliners were hard to get this year. You'd think an act like this would be a second line act even at a festival the size of Nelsonville, but I guess it's the way things are falling this year.
They are the 42nd act listed at Coachella on Sunday. They may be good, but sure seems like an out of nowhere headliner.
