Bunbury just announced the first headliner(s) for the 2014 festival. What do you think?

Can't say I'm all that excited for this. Especially in the Saturday night headlining spot.

I'm not really excited about any of the bands they announced today. However, it's only one day, so I'm hopeful that the rest of the fest will make up for this. If this turns out to be an indication of the direction the festival is going I'll be a bit disappointed though.

I'd hate to see the festival move that direction.

Not a huge fan of the announced bands today. Still plenty of time to make up for it.

At least give us a current band that sucks... not one that was relevant 7 years ago....
Price increase, and this is the first announcement?? Not encouraging...

I'm loving Paramore but not as a headliner.

There has to be some Fall Out Boy / Paramore fans out there somewhere. Where are you at?

I'm not hating on Paramore. They have some songs that they can rock out to. They'll definitely get the crowd into things.

If I was a 12 year old girl, I might be excited by this.
However, I'm not. I've been to every major festival in the US and I gotta tell you this is a very lackluster headliner announcement. I realize it's only one day, and a lot can happen with the line up, but this is hardly buzz-worthy. I actually hate these bands, but that's neither here nor there. I'm trying to look at this a bit more broadly, considering it's a festival and not a one-off. The problem comes with a general perception of what Bunbury wants to become. People go to festivals like Coachella because its a destination, but one that has ALWAYS built its rep on delivering top notch acts, breaking upcoming acts and veteran surprises a-plenty. This was true from year one there, when that particular festival lost money.
I'm not comparing Bunbury to Lolla or Coachella so don't get me wrong. I've been to both Bunbury's and had a great time. However there comes a time in a festival's history they can decide what they want to be. Hopefully this is not the direction they continue in, because bands like this have nothing to offer other than a tween's idea of "rocking out", and why there is an audience for that, I'm not sure it's something you can build a festival on. Esp when commanding a ticket price that would dictate otherwise. The idea of a broad demo is a good one, but at some point you got to give people an idea of what you are. These bands do nothing for that as they are forgettable as they were years ago.
Just my 3 cents.

It would be nice to get a feel for the festival. This announcement was not what I was expecting.

It would be nice to get a feel for the festival. This announcement was not what I was expecting. Agreed. First year had it... all 3 headliners were established acts with large fanbases (young and old) that could easily crank out a set of hits and/or highly influential songs and send everyone home happy each night. Everyone felt it was good value for money too. Last year not so much... I kinda understood the Fun thing because they were hot hot hot and moved tickets, but at the cost of the bigger picture. The festival played into the indie/POP vibe and like most trends in music, that will be short-lived. National was good with the whole hometown thing, they were big enough to pull it off as well. MGMT on the other hand has proved since album two they are one of the most lackluster live acts around. Savvy festival goers knew this going in. Their fanbase has shrunk with each record. That's why we saw high praise for acts like Tegan and Sara, 21 Pilots (ugh) and Walk the Moon... those acts became the headliners for some. This year what we have so far is energetic, young, but washed up acts that will turn off most festival goers (and potential future supporters) over the age of 25-30.

Agreed I think last year they went a little overboard on the electro/indie pop vibe. Where there were artists I did like, like Chairlift, and some others, overall it was definitely not as strong as the year before. I would like to see a return to some artists like Alberta Cross, Maps and Atlases and headliners that aren't geared to a certain crowd, especially like Fall Out Boy. We can all agree MGMT was horrendous last year, glad I never wasted my time on them at Bonnaroo the times they were there, MGMT was a ticket seller, and I thought The National was great. Jane's Addiction, Weezer, Death Cab though definitely broadcasted a larger diverse crowd and I felt the undercard had more of your festival feel. When I hear Fall Out Boy and Paramore, I don't think music festival, I think US Bank Arena.

I have some information on another band that's playing but I am not allowed to say who it is. However, I'm excited about it and it's better than the ones announced already.

Teasing is not tolerated! It'd ok you can tell we won't let anyone know that it was you passed along the secret. Well at least I'm glad to hear there is hope beyond FOB and Paramore!

Let's just say with all the festivals announcing their line-ups this past week… Bunbury better have the A+ still to come. Parabore and Fall Out Blah will not cut it. I hope they do.

Like them or not, Fall out Boy and Paramore are huge acts and will bring a massive crowd. I will bet anyone a beer at Bunbury that Saturday has the biggest crowd out of any day!

JT would make more money just doing his own show that a festival the size of Bunbury. Gwar could be fun and I don't see any dates for them after March when they are in Japan.

So… and that means what exactly? A lot of people like crap music. You equate a big crowd to how good someone is… when in this case is how safe and accessible a band might be. The polls (including this one) do not lie.

The possibility is about 0 to 1%... minus the 1%. For Bunbury if an artist can do their own arena tour… (JT, Katy Perry, Arcade Fire, Black Keys…) they won't be playing Bunbury

People will buy tickets JUST to see Paramore and Fall out Boy. And yeah, a poll of 12 ppl on a message board is not really indicative of everyone's opinion
