I would be surprised to see The Avett Brothers headlining both Bunbury and Nelsonville within a month of each other. Seems like too much of an overlapping audience. Not to mention they aren't reuniting.

Avett and Foster would be okay with me. I've seen both though. and having avett and flaming lips would look like a copy of forecastle of last year.

Well based on dates and who's active... who's reunited, who's got a new album out etc... it could be one of these bands. 1. Foster the People. (goes with the current batch of bands in the lineup, kinda the "Fun" of 2014) 2. Avett Brothers. (good to decent draw, will be in Ohio for a few dates) 3. Arctic Monkeys (this would be huge, but also a longer shot. They are coming back in the states for another round of touring... and festivals) 4. Soundgarden (this makes the least sense style wise, but they are available and the fest needs either hip hop or metal) 5. Grouplove (what would be a disappointment, but they draw ok I guess and everyone liked them in year one) None of those bands are reuniting though. And Soundgarden is too big probably I don't see Soundgarden as too big. if anything, playing a festival like this makes them the right size. Defeinitely different the the rest of the indie pop light line up. That's for sure. I also thought maybe some hip hop reunion, like Public Enemy. They did get together for Riot Fest last year.

Also, The Avetts are playing in Colorado all three dates of Bunbury per their website.

Now given its a headliner, I would think Avett Bros., Arctic Monkeys, and Soundgarden would be the most obvious.. I dont know if Foster and Grouplove are that level. Even for Bunbury headlining... I think Foster are... Yeah I would think Foster is but based on what Rubato said they are a reunion type group..

I'd say foster the people are big enough for this festival but our insider said they are reunion band. If you believe that they are an insider.

Yes! Bring in Tiffany and Tommy Paige and we will be reliving the very first concert experience of my life.
Tiffany headlining with NKOTB and Paige as the opener at Timberwolf. Oh the memories.
(I am not proud of this by the way)

Only thing about Public Enemy is that it would be a BIG jump in another direction for the festival. Not saying it would be a bad thing, but it just doesnt follow this year, let alone the last 3. Soundgarden, doesnt fit 100% with this lineup, but does in some ways to the first year. Foster, definitely possible.

I'm sticking with my Black Crowes(Came back from Hiatus in 2013 and instead of Luther Dickinson, there will be Jackie Greene on guitars and backup vocals.) or The Afghan Whigs(On January 27, 2014, the band's official mailing list announced an April release date for the first album of new Afghan Whigs material in 16 years and the band's return to the Sub Pop roster, titled Do to the Beast. On February 18, 2014, the band announced that Rick McCollum was no longer a member of the group. Guitar parts on Do to the Beast were performed by numerous musicians including Dave Rosser, Jon Skibic and Mark McGuire amongst others.)

rubatophoto, if you were around during the Popopolis days, we probably know each other. Remember seeing both Nada Surf and Superdrag there. Both AMAZING shows. New Order are coming over for a single show at Sasquatch and that's it? Not saying it's not possible, but not very cost effective for them. Perhaps, I was a young'un then though. I was at the Nada Surf one, but I was only 18 at the time. I did a search to see who else played that year... this brings back some memories: Enquirer Article from 2001
Scroll past the Psychodots part to get to the Popopolis part.

Sounds to me like a confirmation on Afghan Whigs, but we shall see. And yes, I got tired of proving I was human, so I'm officially a member now. lol It's not Afghan Whigs - they are out of town that weekend on their own dates. Do you have a source?

Just a theory....but if nickelcreek, it could explain the delay. They are playing the Taft soon and might be trying to push sales to that first?

Plus I don't think they would have their headliner play the Taft a couple of months before the festival

Neutral Milk Hotel also fits my theory. I think they are playing Columbus a week before Bunbury. They also fit the "breaking up" and reuniting bit

I'm just glad that we have a festival here that has some great bands. Sure, it's not Bonnaroo or Forecastle, but I'd venture to say that in their 3rd year they weren't the best around either. For years Cincy has been skipped over by a lot of bands who go from Lexington/Louisville directly to Columbus. Bunbury is a big step in the right direction and as with any venture there will be bumps in the road. Keep in mind though that two years ago Imagine Dragons was one of the bands no one had heard of and now they are a multi-Grammy-winning artist. Baby steps. Lollapalooza wasn't built in a day. Terrific point. We all want Bunbury to be better -- and as you have suggested, more like Bonnaroo or Forecastle. But; to have anything at all is actually pretty amazing. Just Google "failed music festivals"! Many do not last for three years. Coachella! Coachella failed in its first year! So credit to the team at Bunbury. The pace of improvement may be slower (and, in different minds) fading -- but it is still here. It is still bringing live music to our city -- and it is raising, even if marginally, the community's appreciation for Indie/Alternative. And by the way, I happen to believe that the X Ambassadors are this next "Imagine Dragons". For those that missed them as an opening act for Panic at the Disco, this performance at Bunbury will be a treat!

You just reminded me of another festival I've been to. How many of you were at the one year only Desdemona Festival at Sawyer Point back in 2006.
I remember some fun bands back then like The Heartless Bastards, The Walkmen, Mates of State, The Fiery Furnaces, Margot & The Nuclear So & So's. I remember Ghostface Killah was the headliner on one of the nights.
