I'm fairly familiar with Cincy (I'm in North Dayton, lived in Oakley for 3yrs, and worked in Cincy for about 5yrs) but I'm lost when it comes to hotels.
My wife and I have 3 day pass and will be staying overnight all 3 nights. I doubt we'll do much after, so what is the nicest and closest hotel?

The hotels in downtown are more geared toward business travelers than the recreational traveler. That means that the prices are a bit higher than you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express or something similar. There are a few hotels in Newport, KY right across the river (Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express, etc. - Steer clear of the Travelodge, it's gross) but you would need to cab it or drive and find parking unless you're up for a long walk. My recommendation would be to hit the Holiday Inn Express and then drive and park at Newport On The Levee's garage. From there you can walk across the Purple People Bridge that leads you right to the entrance of the festival. Hope this helps! |

Last year my buddy and I drove up and just parked across the street from the fest. I think it was $5 and as close as you could possibly get, just a couple steps away. Ha
But, the drive home was a bugger

I'm currently trying to live it up by booking through priceline, but they aren't accepting my low ball offers. ha
I am pulling up the Holiday Inn Express site now to check pricing.
Wow, says no rooms available. That is odd

Turns out I waited too long and about all the hotels were booked up. I ended up booking a Bed and Breakfast about 2 weeks ago.
I'm hoping it works out well

The B&B was pretty awesome... might have to check that out again. Gonna be hard to find lodging with the All Star game next year
