Think we’re only going Saturday and Sunday. Excited to see
1. Lumineers (Seen 4 times) 2. Lorde (Never seen) 3. Coin (Never seen) 4. Young the Giant (Seen twice)
I’ve never seen any of the others,
I dig Beach Bunny and James Bay.
I know a few songs by Meg Myers, Morgxn, Almost Monday, and Daisy the Great. Really like what I’ve heard from Little Image. I have a lot to listen to still.

I've been burning up the Spotify playlist for WonderBus little image really stands out as well as 90s kids and chloe lilac. I've heard and like plenty from Meg and Morgan. I'm really looking forward to Cautious Clay. Coin is going to BE RAD also

I'm all set, but I have a buddy that might be interested. Let me check with him. Is this a 2 day or 3 day pass?

Young the Giant had to drop out and they were replaced with Local Natives. Ugh Yeah I'm pretty bummed about that. I understand why, but damn. Local Natives is definitely not on the same level for me, but I'm sure options were limited with just a few weeks notice. Still, YTG has a ton of incredible songs and multiple hits.. Still super pumped for this weekend tho. Headliners alone make this an incredible deal.

I’ve seen YTG twice, and have never seen Local Natives, so I was actually ok with the change. We’re getting in Saturday. Think my plan is Daisy the Great, Always Monday, Coin, Lorde Saturday. Sunday, we’re planning on TOTP, The Vindys, Meg Myers, Beach Bunny, James Bay, Local Natives, Lumineers. I may try to catch a bit of Little Image and Morgxn too. I’m pumped. Weather looks solid.

Anybody ever parked at Fawcett Center on the other side of CAS for the festival? Website says there will be parking there at a rate TBD by CampusParc, and I'm wondering if that's a cheaper option than festival parking. It's 35 per day this year which is considerably more than years past I think. Also looks like they've expanded the festival footprint (to be expected with three days and bigger headliners) so there might be less parking available. Looked up Uber/lyft prices from where we're staying and it's about 25-30 each way before surges, so parking is the best option for us. Just trying toi see if there's a better option than $105 for a weekend.

Was a 10 minute walk, tons of free street parking. We got the same Airbnb this year for the same reason.

Day 1 is in the books, and I had a blast! A few notes:
Answered my own question about parking. Parking at Fawcett Center is 35 bucks too, so doing Wonderbus on site parking tomorrow, same price and closer.
As I expected, the festival has significantly expanded its footprint. It is utilizing a large portion of what was parking for the White Claw stage. Crowd was MUCH bigger for Duran Duran than any previous headliner, probably twice the size.
Duran Duran moved some SERIOUS single day tickets. Given it was added on at the last minute, I saw a ton of single day wristbands, and I know they sold a ton of VIP. I noticed almost all of the area in front of the sound booth was either VIP or "Prepaid viewing upgrade". Disappointing GA can't really get you within the first 30 or so rows anymore but it actually looks like the section that was for "prepaid viewing upgrade" was for friday only because it was the only day you could purchase that option online. My guess is there was a high demand for up front viewing for Duran Duran after VIP sold out so they added that. Hopefully that section is gone tomorrow and there is more space for GA near the front.
Gate situation could definitely be improved, and I think it will be the rest of the weekend. I arrived at 7 and waited about half an hour in line to get in, but the line REALLY started bottling up behind me. I could see it from in the festival and bet some folks waited north of an hour. I expect this to improve because no one had their wristbands today, now that three day holders have their wristbands. Also, with just an evening schedule and a high demand for the headliner, everyone really arrived during the same 2 hour period. Gates are open twice as long tomorrow so that should help. Hope they do open more gates though.
Another minor complaint: Lawn chairs and blankets seem really out of control this year. I do think this can be mostly attributed to a lot of people who only came for Duran Duran and set up camp for them, and they definitely were an older crowd. But I remember the first year when they had a designated area for chairs, and only allowed the low sitting variety. I really liked that and wish we could get back to that. Same with blankets. Seems like it's typically festival etiquette to pack up blankets before headliners as people pack in. I noticed a LOT of people with really, really big blankets taking up a lot of space and even some folks getting aggressive at people who got too close to them. I get having a blanket to sit on during the day, but when everyone is packing in, and you have an 8x8 foot blanket for two people in a crowded area, and youre standing, seems a little considerate.
A few tips for anyone going later this weekend:
there is another ID tent deeper into the festival that has shorter lines than the one near the gate.
Avoid the bar behind the sound tent for the main stage. Long lines and they are very slow. Wasted twenty minutes to get a beer, then walked by the bar to the right of the main stage and over by the secondary stage and they had no lines.
Aside from those minor issues, I had a great time and can't wait for the next few days

I saw a lot of people complaining on social media about the line to get in. My biggest gripe last year was just the one entrance. We’re coming from Neil and have to walk all the way around passing every stage before we can get in.

Yep, another fantastic festival! Wonderbus delivered again! Weekend was absolutely wonderful. The few issues I outlined from Friday did all prove to only be problems that day, and the rest of the weekend was super smooth. Definitely the biggest festival by far, with estimates from the Columbus Dispatch of about 12,000 per day, almost double last year's numbers. I read a great interview with Elevation about their formula for success, it seems like they've really hit on something with these 2 (or 2.5) day festivals, and they are planning on expanding even further across the country in similar markets. Honestly, in this post Covid era where big festivals are bloated and struggling a bit and people have to make choices with their money, they could have massive success.
It still blows my mind that PW wasn't able to make PromoWest Fest work. Especially with their experience being a staple in the Columbus music scene for so long, and running a successful event in Cinci. The market for this type of event is definitely there, but I think Promowest just tried to do too much in their inaugural year. Elevation has scaled it up each and every year, with this year culminating in some seriously big headliners. Would love to get Florence next year if she's touring. Seems like a perfect fit. Vampire Weekend or The Cure would be great too.
All three headliners were fantastic, but I actually think the best by far was Lorde, at least for me. I like her music well enough, but wouldn't call myself a serious fan by any means. But she absolutely killed it, and had some of the coolest stage production I've seen in a long time.

It was great. My favorite acts were
1. The Lumineers 2. The Vindys 3. Lorde 4. Beach Bunny 5. Local Natives 6. Colony House 7. Coin 8. Almost Monday 9. Daisy the Great
The Vindys cover of War Pigs was the best thing I heard all weekend. My group has 2 free tickets for next year, so I’ll definitely be back.
