Wonder folks just released a statement:
"Greetings Wonder Fans -
We realize it’s been radio silence since last September, so we will cut to the chase.
We definitely plan to continue the Wonder festivals!
As you know, we’ve been staging our music festivals for many years.
It costs a lot of money to run these events and the second half of last year was really tough.
As the ‘23 festival season ended, a few of us were left to cover all the costs.
This was different from how things began and continues to be both deeply disappointing and unsustainable.
We are committed to putting last year behind us and gearing up for the future.
At this time, we are reviewing opportunities with new partners –
partners who will allow us to become better and stronger.
Like any industry, there are times of disruption and we have to adapt. Now is one of those times.
What drives us to succeed is each of you. We all know that music festivals are the ultimate unifier of people.
The festival experience is incredible and hard to duplicate.
The Wonder fests may take place later than usual, but there are no plans to give up what we started.
Thank you for your continued interest and support. Check periodically on all socials for updates.
The Wonder Festivals Team"
Sounds like it’s dead, what a bummer. Every festival I’ve attended has been killed, Bunbury, Promowest Fest, Forecastle, Laurelive, Wonderbus, WonderRoad, Wonderworks. I can’t make Bourbon and Beyond, looks like my 10 straight years of music festivals (besides 2020) will end.
I’m cautiously optimistic there’s still some life in them. In an interview with the Indianapolis Business Journal, the Elevation CEO said they’re not going anywhere, and are still partnering with MOKB Presents for WonderRoad. He said the festival will return, but it could be later in 2024 or next year in 2025.
