Someone tell me it's gonna be ok..... - $ 750 for for two VIP tickets bought right after 2014 event - $ 575 for two nights in the Residence Inn less than 5 minute walk to Bunbury (great roof top bar by the way) - $ 75 for 3 days of parking - $ 350 for 3 days of awesome craft beer, food and merchandise from ( if any indication from previous years ) 5 different bands I will want to support - $ 50 in gas Please tell this hardline Alternative soul, that the $1800 I am dropping on this festival is so going to be worth it. Please tell me I will love the non Alternative acts. You guys keep saying it is awesome.........Assure me, I need the support. You are going to love it! Sounds like you need to start listening up on these bands "the guys" have been saying are awesome. And then you won't feel as bad when you realize how awesome they are. You'll have fun! And Cincinnti in general is just a fun place to be!

Passion, I think I can answer that. When I say I am an alternative soul, I normally love a Weezer, Neon Trees, New Politics, Airborne Toxic, Paramore, etc type of genre. I am not as familiar with genres that might lean towards country, hip hop, folk, psychopop( getting these genres from iTunes or wikipedia on the bands listed this year). I really just don't seek out these type of genres , so that is what I mean I guess. I am trying to understand if the live energy of these bands is going to move me. It's why I will pay a lot to go to a festival like Bunbury. These boards and Facebook tell me this is going to be incredible. I love Bunbury and always have. I think my Spotify station has just been stuck in one area and I need to take evenpjflow's advice and begin to listen to these bands. From listening to all of you, it's sounds like my dollar spend is so going to be worth it. Hopefully all of that makes sense.

If you played a few of the bands for me on Spotify, I may reach for the shuffle button pretty quick. But once I invested some time into learning the songs, the live show was awesome. The energy is so much better on stage. Less cute recording tricks and more about the song structure and passion. Holy Ghost was that band for me last year. The recording was drenched in reverb and odd drum sounds, but live it was really awesome.

Two words that haven't been mentioned yet: FRONT BOTTOMS. I had never heard of the Front Bottoms until this announcement, but I'm really digging what I've heard so far. They kind of sound like exactly halfway between The Mountain Goats and The Hold Steady. I might be the only one who sees that comparison, but it's what I keep thinking listening to them.

so incredibly pumped that both Temples and Tame Impala are on the bill, two of my favorite bands of the last couple of years. I had Temples' Sun Structures as my No 1 album of 2014, and Tame Impala's Lonerism as my No 2 album of 2013. I've seen both before, and let me tell ya, they will FLOOR you. I suspect that most of you hear are probably not familiar with these bands, so take my word for it: make sure you put them on your list to see

I can probably name 10 albums from 2013 I like more than anything that came out last year. I agree with you though, pumped about both Tame Impala and Temples.

Any strong opinions on VIP vs. regular? I love all the perks of VIP but I would be the only person in my group to have a VIP pass.

Even if it's only half of the top bands, it's more than it was last year.

How packed does the front section get?

How packed does the front section get? For the headliners, maybe five or six deep. But you can be that close right as the band is walking on. If you want front row, usually gotta hangout for the last two bands. But the VIP crowd is interesting. Since you see the same people in a small space for three days, you get to know them and kind of respect each others "spots". We all paid a lot for this privilege so there's not a lot of jostling for position. Even then, there is so much space close to the stage that you don't feel far back at all. I actually preferred being at the back of the VIP because the sound was better. Front row was almost in front of the speakers so the sound wasnt the best.

No problem at all! Ask away, not much else is going on. If they do it like they did the last three years, the VIP extends half of the front of the stage. It can probably fit 300 or more people easily. Almost all of VIP can fit comfortably. Not everyone goes down there, a few sit up in the lawn area to the side, which is also a fantastic viewing spot. I look through my photos from last year and see if I can find some examples.

Looks like a new wave of local bands have been added to the lineup.
Wussy (a personal favorite of mine), Genevieve, Kid Runner, Motherfolk, Daniel in Stereo, Pluto Revolts, 500 Miles to Memphis (another fun band), Graceful Closure, Austin Plaine, Lonesome as Gold, Playing to Vapors, Old Hundred, and Zach Longoria Project.
I don't know many of these bands, so I look forward to check them out soon.

Without sounding rude, on the older side. A saw a lot of 40- mid 50's believe it or not. I noticed almost zero people under 21, and very few "groups" of guys or girls respectively. It was mostly couples mid twenties to mid thirties. Not a lot of solo acts.

Sure, just pick on us "old" people. LOL Actually I'm just 40 myself. Though my 41st birthday is the day before Bunbury.
I just can't see spending over $700 for a music festival at this point in my life (for me and the wife) when there are plenty of other things to spend money on. I would have liked to try out the old VIP thing this year. Maybe sometime in the future.

Three day passes are sold out. I wonder if they designated more/fewer/the same number of weekend passes as last year. If any of the Facebook complainers read this forum, we should have our discussion in here instead of on FB. I shouldn't be shocked by the people complaining about not getting a 3 day pass but for some reason I am. There was more than ample warning, the lineup is better, and the VIP sellout should have been an indication that things were heating up. I just don't understand what the issue is.
