I can honestly say this is one of the worst festival line ups I've seen in many many years. Everything from the initial Paramore, Fall Out Boy crap, to the piece-mailing of the line-up announcement to the underwhemling lineup today... I just don't get it.
really wanting this to be a banner year for this festival, but it took more than a few steps back. With festival competition the way it is these days you have to bring your A game each and every year, Bunbury failed miserably and not any surprise 3rd headliner will be able to save it at this point. Sad. There re better value for money festivals out there, there are better bigger festivals out there, there are more diverse festivals out there.

I still think the last headliner will be Vampire Weekend, but then again what in the hell do I know? ha It's NOT Vampire Weekend. That much I'm sure of.

...and if I have to hear one more person say, "where is Walk the Moon" I will.... do nothing... but wonder to myself, "you are at a music festival.. I assume you know good music... HOW DO YOU LIKE A BAND AS BAD AS WALK THE FREAKIN MOON..." Amen

I mean I'm still going to support the festival (hoping to volunteer this year) but this is so weak in my opinion. After raising the tickets $20 this is the result? That has to be the weakest top 10 yet. New Politics is the 7th biggest band at the festival? Maybe my expectations were too high because of the ticket prices this year. Still pretty excited about Flaming Lips, one less conflict at Bonnaroo. Also, I wouldn't get my hopes up about the third headliner. The fact they didn't announce it is probably an indication whatever they were planning fell through and they're scrambling for a replacement. That is my fear as well. It's one of three options... Either they are scrambling to fill the spot, or it's somebody who hasn't announced they are going on tour yet, so they don't want their name to get out there, or thirdly... It's somebody big enough to sell tickets and they are waiting for the prices to go up before they announce them. I guess a fourth option is just that they haven't finalized the deal yet and don't want to announce it until it's official in case it does fall through. It does worry me though, because all signs were pointing towards them announcing it today. Literally, the pictures of the signs at the lineup events last night said Friday and Sunday's headliners would be announced today. So they were planning on it. My thought was that they were waiting to release the final headliner around the time that Forecastle announces their lineup in a few weeks.

I know who the final headliner is (sorry, I can't share) and it is not Vampire Weekend. Whoa, can you say if it's a fairly well known band? It is a well known band that has recently reunited after a long break-up. That's all I can give. Let the conjecture begin!

The 3rd headliner is also, for sure, NOT Outkast.

Sounds to me like a confirmation on Afghan Whigs, but we shall see.
And yes, I got tired of proving I was human, so I'm officially a member now. lol

I'm not sure when the announcement will be or why the delay. Hopefully they'll announce it soon so I don't have to keep it bottled up!

I wonder if nickelcreek actually broke up? Didn't they just announce tour dates a few days ago? Did they break up that quickly?

Nickel Creek did announce new tour dates. One of the tour dates is playing at The Taft Theatre here in Cincy.
They do fit the bill of recently reunited, but I really don't think they fit in this last headline spot.

Okay, so since our resident "in the know" isn't going to spill. Who can come up with some bands that have just recently reunited after a long absence.
I still think it's going to be The Afghan Whigs, but to add to that, we have Outkast and Neutral Milk Hotel.
Though I'm guessing it's not NMH since he said "well known" and he spent a post in the last thread talking about how they aren't that well known in a broad sense.
Anybody have any others?

Last time I saw them was at Tall Stacks years ago.

Another site with 2012 reunions...
Van Halen (with David Lee Roth) releasing new album "A Different Kind of Truth" on Feb. 7 and also of course 45 city tour.
The Beach Boys (with Brian Wilson). New album to celebrate 50th anniversery. DOUBTFUL
Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) New album due by summer and being produced by Rick Rubin. DOUBTFUL
Soundgarden. They toured 2011 but decided to stay together and put out a new album this year. POSSIBLE
No Doubt. New album sometime in 2012 expected. File this one under Guilty Pleasure. POSSIBLE, BUT NOT HOPING

As far as the lineup goes so far, I really think this underwhelming in every way. Headliners to undercard, when you take that with the nothing special venue setting/activities I don't see a reason for anyone but local music enthusiast, of which there are few in Cincinnati, to buy tickets. This is really sad to me because I wanted this festival to grow and be great since it’s in my back yard but it has taken a step backwards every year since the first. I will bash it online because I want them to listen to what I have to say and get their shit together. If we don’t tell them what we want they won’t ever change and will just fail because of ticket sales. All that being said, I do like the Flaming Lips, but if you are going to have a psychedelic headliner get more Psychedelic/jam bands to complement them.

Nicklecreek would be a nice addition and add some variety, but if they are playing the taft they aren't playing Bunbury.

I'm just glad that we have a festival here that has some great bands. Sure, it's not Bonnaroo or Forecastle, but I'd venture to say that in their 3rd year they weren't the best around either.
For years Cincy has been skipped over by a lot of bands who go from Lexington/Louisville directly to Columbus. Bunbury is a big step in the right direction and as with any venture there will be bumps in the road. Keep in mind though that two years ago Imagine Dragons was one of the bands no one had heard of and now they are a multi-Grammy-winning artist.
Baby steps. Lollapalooza wasn't built in a day.
