Just curious how many festivals has everyone on here been too? Like different festivals like Bunbury, forecastle, Rothbury, ect not like Bonnaroo 2009, Bonnaroo 2012. Both Bunburys, I've also been to every single Coachella except 2005 (had a baby), Went to all the Lollapaloozas when it toured, and about 3 of the ones in Chicago. Went to Roo in 05, Both years of All Points West and Field Day (both in NYC), a few SXSW's a few years ago before it got crazy, Intonation the one and only year (2006) in Chicago, Pitchfork in 2009, 2010 A few Nelsonville Music Festivals, Sasquatch in 2004, ATP in NY in 2009, Summerfest in Columbus last year Woodstock in 94, the second year of Rock on the Range, and one of the Virgin fests in 2002.

If I remember correctly it wasn't very good. But then again, I think i was like 14 so what the hell did I know, haha!

It's not Afghan Whigs - they are out of town that weekend on their own dates. According to their own website and facebook page, they only have dates scheduled through May so far. Unless you know something that they haven't published yet. Their site does say more dates to be announced. They will be in NYC

That was the year they had the "riot"... probably more of a mosh pit, but a "riot" in cincy terms.

rubatophoto, if you were around during the Popopolis days, we probably know each other.
Remember seeing both Nada Surf and Superdrag there. Both AMAZING shows.
New Order are coming over for a single show at Sasquatch and that's it? Not saying it's not possible, but not very cost effective for them.

Bring me any new wave 80s band!!

No shit! I'm highly jealous! One day I hope to make it around to more festivals.
Off topic, at least there's a little discussion here. Facebook looks like a mad house.

I don't see Bunbury flying a band from the UK just for a one-off unless they already have other US dates scheduled (which they really don't)

I understand some of the frustration... but there is not point to go all anti-Bunbury just b/c the festival didnt call you personally to approve the lineup... I am sure I will find many gems in the underbully of that lineup to make me more than happy. Or I will just drink a few extra IPAs and dance like a moron to some band I dont like...

True, but I'm sure what we are hearing is fallout from people are being really careful in what they spend their music dollars on. If I only had one festival and say, $300 or so dollars for festival tickets, I'd probably look elsewhere before Bunbury... travel and all. There is MAJOR competition this year and some of it is regionally pretty close (ForeCastle, Pitchfork, Lolla, Nelsonville, Bonnaroo) While each of these are very different and different sized festivals, it may still come down to people choosing one over the other on cost and how much bang for the buck they feel they are getting. Something I think Bunbury dropped the hive on this year.

The only thing that's got me bummed out is the increase in ticket prices yet no increase in the size of the artists. Maybe I should wait for the third headliner, maybe I'm underestimating how much FOB/Paramore cost, but compared to last year this lineup is weaker in my opinion

I'm not sure any headliner short of Paul McCartney/Daft Punk can save what will be the overall opinion of the masses this year.

I think I've figured out who it is... I'm kinda surprised by who it might be, but it's not a festival saving signing. Do tell! Well based on dates and who's active... who's reunited, who's got a new album out etc... it could be one of these bands. 1. Foster the People. (goes with the current batch of bands in the lineup, kinda the "Fun" of 2014) 2. Avett Brothers. (good to decent draw, will be in Ohio for a few dates) 3. Arctic Monkeys (this would be huge, but also a longer shot. They are coming back in the states for another round of touring... and festivals) 4. Soundgarden (this makes the least sense style wise, but they are available and the fest needs either hip hop or metal) 5. Grouplove (what would be a disappointment, but they draw ok I guess and everyone liked them in year one)

I dont know if Foster and Grouplove are that level. Even for Bunbury headlining...
