That's brutal about the sound. Sure fire way to dull down a concert when the sound engineer isn't doing a good job. Think they'd be worth a slot this time around on Bunbury based on the show? I don't know that they would book Black Keys AND Vampire Weekend to headline but I know they Black Keys have in the past. I 100% could see them at festivals this summer. They've got A TON of energy. Truthfully, I was excited to see them but I would not have cared if I missed the show. After leaving, I gained a whole new appreciation for them! They're great live! I would imagine that since this tour did not sell super well, that Bunbury could pick them up on the cheap. If they could get them on the cheap and it would be a good show and draw well (I think it would) and that leaves more money for the undercard then I am all for that!

Went to Bon Iver last night and it was not what I expected. The upper deck of the Schott was blocked off and only 2/3 of the lower bowl was full. Justin and his band sounded great but they relied WAYYY too much on their new album and it showed how much the crowd was alienated by it. There were only about 5 songs that people cheered for and I heard tons of people in the bathroom after the show expressing the same feelings. It was one of the first shows I've been to where people seemed very disinterested and had the opener vibe most of the night. It's a real bummer for someone who has loved the band for awhile but never had the chance to see them in Columbus. Playing the entirety of you new album that's only been out for about 2 months is a bold move without announcing it to folks who bought your tickets.

I'm not really into Bon Iver but I also don't know a lot of people that are into them so I probably am not at liberty to judge the turnout and stuff. But I will say that Glass Animals played at show in Columbus 2 years (?) ago after releasing the How to be a Human Being album days earlier and played a majority of that album and everyone knew all of the words so I dunno. Maybe it has more to do with the amount of material that someone has in their catalog as well?

Bon Iver has 4 LP's plus quite a few EP's an unreleased songs. On the other hand, Bon Iver had a ridiculous lighting setup, They suspended a ton of tiny mirrors above the stage and the reflected the lights and made a ton of cool designs.

That Glass Animals show left me in complete awe that everyone knew the words to every song. That was so awesome. Excited for them to hopefully get back to the studio soon once the drummer is fully recovered from his accident. I saw videos of that lighting set up! That production looked really really cool. That would play really well at a festival I'm positive.

Just scooped up Presale tix to Saint Motel at Newport Feb18. Going to be a great show. No Cinci or Kentucky dates on the Spring leg of the tour. Definitely puts Bunbury and Forecastle in the mix

The Revivalists are hitting Newport Music Hall on their tour on March 7th. Should be a fantastic show, they were in credible at Wonderbus. No Cinci or Louisville dates on their spring tour, opening them up as a possibility for Bunbury or Forecastle

That's insane I was actually thinking that as well. I don't believe the openings acts have been announced yet. and I actually just went to their website and when I clicked on Presale it says they are already sold out of presale. Which is WILD if true. I'm waiting to see if Spotify or someone sends me a presale code to see if that's accurate.

Yeah, I figured they were both out, but maybe they end up doing Forecastle, Railbird, Wonderbus or LaureLive. Seems like a good booking for any of those fests, though we can rule Andrew out of Wonderbus

Saw Gryffin over the weekend and he would be a great person to close the Cove stage if they wanted to bring in an electronic act that isn't just a DJ behind a booth.
And then of course an honorary annual shout out to The Knocks and them needing to be booked.

Has anyone seen J. Roddy Walston solo before? I saw he's doing a show at A&R but it's without The Business and I was curious what's to be expected. I'm on the fence with tickets right now.

Hope everyone checking out that CAAMP show has fun tonight! They were hyping them up heavily on Alt Nation yesterday so I think they are going to be getting some juice behind them nationally soon!

The local Adult Alternative/indie station here in Indy has been playing them nonstop, and their show at a 1,000 capacity venue sold out with in 48 hours. Kinda surprised they didn't add a second show.

At this point they should just be playing bigger venues, not adding more dates.

Their show is sponsored by the aforementioned radio station which likes using the independent venues here in Indy rather than the LiveNation owned venues (which is most venues). That being said, I know someone who works at that venue and they did not expect it to sell out so fast. For comparison, Andrew McMahon did a solo acoustic show at that same venue and there were still plenty of tickets day of. Safe to say CAAMP is onto something

Safe to say CAAMP is onto something One thing that annoys me when artists tour strictly with LiveNation is that a lot of them won't come to Columbus because LN doesn't own any venues in town (except for some of the really big acts that do Nationwide or The Schott) but I am also VERY glad that LN doesn't control the market here. I guess since Promowest runs most venues in town and AEG owns majority share in them that they are kind of running the show in town but it feels like we get more variety and loss over-produced pop acts in town.

Yeah, I wish LiveNation didn't have such a stranglehold here. Their venues are nice and they bring great acts through, but their fees are insane and every venue I go to, it feels like they're going out of their way to upsell and gouge. The food and beverage prices are outrageous (12 to 15 dollars for a beer?!) and they have reps walking around constantly trying to sell tickets to other events at their venues. It just takes something out of the experience.

Safe to say CAAMP is onto something We went to the New Year Eve CAAMP show and it was by far one of the worst concert experiences I've ever had. The guys in CAAMP were AMAZING however the crowd was absolutely terrible. You can check out the instagram stories they posted if you want to hear the crowd talking the entire time. It's not just a causal chatter, but people are literally screaming to each other. You know the loud chatter that occurs between the opener and headliner? That was going on the entire show. It got so bad that people in the crowd were yelling "shut up" and the lead singer kept gesturing people to be quiet and after some of their quiet songs, shook his head at the crowd and you could tell he was pissed.

Oh man that stinks. Why would people pay to go to a show just to talk the whole time? That’s so annoying, if it was just bc it was NYE there were plenty of bars charging the same price they could have hung out at.

I worked GWAR here in Cincy on NYE and it was a typical GWAR crowd. Couldn't tell it was NYE except that they ran a little late in order to do a ball drop at midnight. But it's possible GWAR is the outlier and your show is more typical of NYE? I had a similar experience at AWOLNATION up in Columbus a year or two ago and that wasn't a holiday, though. Just a shitty crowd.

Never understood why you would pay for a ticket and just talk the whole time? I mean I get it if you are hanging out in the back and chatting - but we were maybe 20 feet from the barricade and there were multiple groups having full conversations. Those people had to show up somewhat early to get that close and I don't think you would do that unless you wanted to see the band? Who knows, maybe I'm the weird one lol
