Electric Forest just released an underwhelming lineup. Yeah not really digging their lineup this year, do we usually share a lot of headliners or acts? Don’t know this off the top of my head

Don't think we really do, but as more underwhelming lineups come out the more I get worried for Bunbury and Bonnaroo. I know thses festivals are completely different, but you can gauge what acts are hitting the circuit.

Yeah, I've yet seen a festival that I thought looked really good, everything has looked pretty underwhelming so far.

I'm looking most forward to Bunbury and Bonnaroo this year. I've been trying to hit a different every year but I always go back to these two (being in Columbus helps with Bunbury being so close) to base everything off of.
I know that the rumored headliners right now are some kind of combo of Fleetwood Mac, Jay Z, Eminem, The Killers, Arcade Fire, and Jack White (I think that's more of a long shot than any of the others)

A recent discussion with a sponsor of Bunbury led me to believe that the two year Rap/EDM experiment was not generating the ticket sales that organizers were hoping for. Thus, there is a good chance this year Bunbury will go back to its roots and the Alt/Indie lineups that dominated the first couple of years.

I’d like to officially say we get Arcade Fire

It amazes me how often we know several of the top two lines well in advance but can't seem to get anything figured out with Bunbury. I'd be all for Bunbury getting back to indie bands and sprinkle in some other genres, they really don't seem to have an identity. I live just north of Cincinnati so I love to support Bunbury, but it drives me nuts they'll book a band like Death Cab and only give them an hour. Pre-headliners and headliners should just be given more time.

I've been getting more and more into indie and alternative stuff and Bunbury seems to kind of lean that way but then goes astray when it comes to their top line. I did enjoy Deadmau5 so I can't complain about that but overall they should maybe just go towards the Indie/Alt identity. And now that you mention that you are right. It is SUPER annoying to give bands with bigger catalogs only an hour. It's a smaller festival so they should be able to give them more time to play if they warrant it.

I know two years ago we had the headliners pinned down by the day off the announcement and even found out about Deadmau5 last minute through someone's connection within PromoWest. I know it's not always the case because the distance isn't TOO far but usually a lot of Governor's Ball's top lines usually dont tend to show up at Bunbury since they are usually on the same weekend.

At muse this past year that’s what one guy told me. If Bunbury can pull off a lot of really cool indie acts and minimize EDM/rap, this festival might get some national attention. Especially if Bonnaroo/Lollapalooza follow in the same footsteps as okeechobee and hangout.

Although people show up for Bassnecter and Pretty Lights because they have a loyal following, You are definitely alienating virtually everyone else because of how deep in that genre those acts are. Wiz Khalifa and G-Eazy did nothing for me at all. Those wouldn't be on the top line of too many other festivals imo. I do wish we would be getting clues and things like that earlier than they typically do them. By the time they announce their lineup virtually everyone else has announced theirs and it gets dicey on if I've already committed to another one or not. And typically we only decide to attend one a summer unless ticket prices/dates of festival fall just right.

Looks like we may have our first likely confirmation. Royal Blood is playing Thursday May 31st at Promowest's Stage AE in Pittsburgh. They don't have another date scheduled until Sunday June 3rd in Nashville. This lines up perfectly for them to play Bunbury either Friday or Saturday night. I unfortunately missed these guys in 2015, so I'm excited to finally get to see them.

The Infamous Stringdusters are playing Newport Music Hall in Feb., but that is the closest. May 30th though they are in Indiana, and open Bunbury weekend.

Vampire Weekend is supposed to release an album here soon, I could see them headlining. I'm honestly just throwing out names though.

Governor's Ball is the same weekend as Bunbury again this year. Let's hope for more crossover like 2016. They've been giving lineup hints here: www.reddit.com/r/governorsball/

Laurelive just announced their lineup. Think they shared 3 acts from Bunbury last year. Solid lineup though. Foster the People, Brandi Carlile, Cold War Kids, Fitz and the Tantrums, X Ambassadors, Rag'n Bone Man, Red Wanting Blue, and many more on the list.

I think the new Arcade Fire dates put them into possibility, headed back to Europe June 11th.

I can see Bunbury booking any number of them. I hope Foster doesn't take up any prime real estate though they have been incredibly underwhelming since Torches. I have to give credit to Laurelive they've been killing it for such a small fest. Plus they way they released there lineup was very unique.

Chainsmokers are confirmed from what I've heard. Interesting. That aren't an act that's going to sell me on a festival but I'm sure that will move some tickets, although I've heard they will be pretty much everywhere this year. Sticks if this turns out to be true and they take up a headliner slot (they will certainly be in a headliner slot).

Chainsmokers are confirmed from what I've heard. God no PLEASE GOD NO. Chainsmokers are weird man. They had a couple sweet songs a couple years ago but now every chainsmokers song sounds like a remix of their popular song from the week before featuring a more popular artist than the week before. I know lots of EDM fans really hate Chainsmokers so idk what kind of crowd this is going to attract.

They do kick ass though. Royal Blood is in Pitt on May 31 and Nashville June 3. I think the only question is whether they play Fri or Sat. And my guess would be they go on the main stage right before the headliner.

I was going to guess Arcade Fire as a headliner but it's looking like they are in Germany on June 22nd. Which doesn't completely rule them out I guess but I just would think it's weird they would go to Spain in April then come back to the states or a few one off festivals then back to Germany end of June.
