Again, I'm hype for this line up. Listening to a playlist I made for it on Spotify and I'm hearing a lot I like. Weak headliners? Sure, I can get behind that, but I like a lot of what'll be there. If they make a surprising, big addition, that's just a great perk, but I absolutely don't think they'll do that. This is how I feel most years. HOWEVER, this year the middle tier is seriously lacking. I'm my opinion the headliners should be the draw for people, but usually for me it's the middle tier, then I find some nuggets best the bottom that I follow for years to come. I honestly have NO draw to the festival at all this year. I'm not going to go digging for a reason to go.... In my opinion that is not how it should work. I should WANT to go and then be surprised by the let tier bands.

I've even tried to listen to the spotify playlist and get excited, but it's not working. It's 100% a pass for me this year but holding on hoping forecastle is good

I was considering doing a single day depending on the lineups by day, but I have a feeling the few acts I'd be interested in will be spaced out across the weekend. Florence is playing Chicago a few weeks before so I think a road trip up there for her will be a better investment. Still hoping Forecastle is great.

I am out as well for all 3 days. I have gone 4 years in a row, so I am disappointed. I may go one day if The 1975, Awolnation, Lovelytheband, Flora Cash, SHAED, and Joywave fall on the same day. Waiting for Forecastle and Bellwether too.

“Coachella
Boston Calling Shaky Knees Governors Ball
III Points Bonnaroo Rolling Loud Miami
Bottlerock Firefly Hangout
dogshit
Bunbury”
Saw this festival ranking on inforoo and I thought it was sad and funny

I’ve been trying really hard to like the middle of the line up. Once forecastle announces their lineup I’ll make the decision. For now I’m out. The “headliners” don’t have enough pull to get me to show up to just hang around to see them.
I always do Lolla. Im going on my 6th year going and it has yet to disappoint.

Any other Midwest festivals that are of note? Outside of Forecastle, Nelsonville and Bellweather? I'm surprised Pittsburgh or Indianapolis don't have any.

FSMF is in Indy, but they’re taking a break this year. Hopefully they come back because they have decent lineups for the size of the fest. Also 30 minutes from my house 😁

And I’m not counting on them returning, just hopeful because my beloved Bunbury seems to be going down. Maybe next year they’ll blow us out of the water. Maybe.

All y'all sleeping on MoPop. Going to be the best lineup of the year -- or, the best it can be, being a 2-day festival. Tame Impala, Vampire Weekend -- shit's LIT.

I know everyone is down on the lineup, so I understand if no one wants to take the time to do this...But, anyone have any guesses on what days each artist will perform? I think last year we were able to narrow it down some based on tours, etc.

RadioGirl said Fall Out Boy is on Friday for sure. But on SeatGeek they have 1975 listed as Friday and them playing Govs Ball on Saturday so if Fall Out Boy is playing on Friday it's probably likely they would be Sunday. Not entirely sure because Greta Van Fleet is still listed as all weekend and has no other shows that weekend. The 1975 schedule is such a logistical nightmare that it'd be hard to predict for sure at this point.
I would be shocked if Run the Jewels or Girl Talk were closing out a main stage on any of the nights, but stranger things have happened.

It's just one person but I dont know. I mean Girl Talk was all of the rage in the late 2000's and early 2010's because of his releases of his mashup albums on the internet for free and what not. I've been to a show before. It's very much an atmosphere of being at a house party. I think if for whatever reason you couldn't get any of the other headliners for a day then he would make sense and you risk losing people who are leaving early but the environment at the main stage would be a very good one. But definitely understand why people would be like "wtf" if he was closing down a festival. He hasn't put out one of his albums in quite a few years and has been doing more hip hop focused productions pretty under the radar. I think people would have fun but it would certainly seem underwhelming if he was closing down the main stage. Now if he was in like the Post Malone spot. That'd probably be a perfect spot for him.

Holy cow, just realize that on June 1st George Clinton is playing at Riverfront Live in Cinci. I mean what a colossal screw up not to book the Parliament Funkadelic on their farewell tour.

Interesting because this is the most down year for bunbury in recent memory, but Taft Theatre and Riverbend/PNC Pavilion has been crushing it this year bringing acts to Cincinnati. Bon Iver, Hozier, Vampire Weekend, Kurt Vile, and they even beat promowest to the punch with The 1975 at PNC pavilion (which still confuses me logisitcally, I guess that show sold out already so you may not care if you were booking PNC. but still can't believe promowest bringing the back two weeks later).

All y'all sleeping on MoPop. Going to be the best lineup of the year -- or, the best it can be, being a 2-day festival. Tame Impala, Vampire Weekend -- shit's LIT. I went to MoPop last year. The lineup was amazing, but the festival itself was really rough. It's in a park that has been left to die by the city. Literally no grass is left, just weeds and dirt. This results in a dustbowl or a mud pit depending on the weather. Also, there are only 2 stages and no overlap, which sounds good in theory of being able to see all the acts, but means the entire crowd is in the same place at all times. There's also not much production budget (large screens and such) so you can't see anything if you're far back, and the younger kids are super aggressive about getting to the front with no regard for anyone else. Oh and Detroit is a nightmare city. It will hopefully be good in 10 to 20 years. I'm from Cleveland so I've seen the development happen here, but they've got some time to go. Also with no way to escape the heat and no re-entry, we ended up leaving before the headliners both days.

Lol. That post couldn't've sounded more uppity, and in spots ignorant, if it wanted to.
For $70, I can deal with very occasional dust clouds if it means seeing Bon Iver, Portugal. The Man, and The National on rail. If you're far back at any point, I'm impressed. It's not like it's a big festival at all.

I am always one to stay in the back away form the crowds and I have never had an issue with seeing or hearing. I love that I can put a blanket down and post up all day with or group. If you are looking for a big festival, clearly MoPop isn’t it, but if you are looking for solid acts, not missing a show due to overlapping, and a comfortable environment, MoPop is it. Every festival has a dust or mud problem, you adjust. Should we bring up InCuya Cleveland had last year? It was good in theory but ticket sales were very low, the two stages idea was good in theory but you had to walk up/down hill with the masse, and Cleveland is Cleveland.
