Vampire Weekend? Beck? Cage the Elephant? Band of Horses?
Who do you think will be there? Should be a week or two away from hearing something.

Whoa whoa whoa. Ii think the first 2 are out. Maybe one of the others though.
Bellwether is rad and all, but I don't see a major headliner. No offense to the flaming lips or MGMT.

Passion pit 10th anniversary Manners tour seems like a good grab for them

I think the headliner level will stay about the same but add a little depth to the mid tier. Other than the weather, I heard good things about this festival last year. Anyone go that wants to share their experience?

I am certainly down to attend another camping festival if it means it's a lot closer to home than Tennessee.
I haven't talked to anyone who went last year but second the notion of someone giving their experiences.

They adderessed that this year by lowering the price. I could be wrong though

I went last year and it was a lot of fun. It was super small and a lot different from bunbury, but honestly i liked it more. I got there at like 5 am to be there early to like camp out for MGMT because they're my favorite band and no one even came to the gates of the festival until it opened. The workers were super nice to my boyfriend and I who went bc we got there so early and there was a plenty of vendors and stuff like that. The stages were really nice too. The only downfall was waiting 20+ hours to see a band that didn't end up playing because of the rain lol but that wasn't their fault. Other than that i had a blast and made a bunch of new friends and it was totally worth my money it was a great experience.

Was it overbearing or light compared to like a Bunbury?

Most of what I saw was during the day though I was barricade all day bc I was waiting for MGMT and it only got like super crowed before MGMT was supposed to come out. it was super light compared to bunbury and I was able to walk around all day comfortably. The fest has a really open layout and it's super nice. It will probably be bigger this year, but it was the smallest music fest I've been to.

I went both days and absolutely loved it. Definitely a pretty light crowd. You could easily get to the front for each band if you wanted to. For most of the bands you would not even have to fight people to get up there. Lots of open space. Well this had its advantages, I wouldn’t mind seeing it a little more crowded this year.
Love the way you don’t have to make any decisions about who to watch. No bands overlap each other.
The organization was outstanding. The people were friendly, plenty of food options. I have already purchased two day tickets for this year. We did not camp so I have no idea what those conditions were like.
Loved the lineup last year as well. Could’ve done without Echo and the Bunnymen and Psychedelic Furs though. They both sounded really good but didn’t provide a lot of excitement in my opinion. Flaming Lips made the whole thing worth it, even without MGMT being able to perform. Local Natives were great as well.
One of the reasons I can see them upping the quality of performers is because of space. There is an incredible amount of space available there. Although there is only one entrance which could be a problem for traffic. Was not a problem at all last year though.

Does anyone have any thoughts on VIP? Good viewing areas? Tents for heat (or rain)? Free food?

I'm not familiar with the area so I'm not sure what the hotel/airbnb situation is.

My parents live in the area so I stay with them. There aren’t really any hotels right near the grounds. A few Bed and Breakfasts in Waynesville. Mason is probably the closest area with a lot of hotels.

CAAMP could be a possibility (localish band, fits criteria of festival and schedule open)
Sufjan Stevens could be a possible headliner.
If both of these are on the bill, I'm going.

He offered to take it "backstage" to get the "other guy" to sign it as well. Super nice of him

Beck, Cage the Elephant and Spoon play Indy on Aug 4 and Toronto on 8-11. They play Cinci on Aug 2 so unlikely they Play Bellwether. Maybe Spoon as a headliner though? They seem like the right kind of band for Bellwether and are only opening on the other tour.

Evan and Taylor were one grade below me in school and I have know both of them for a long time. They are some of the nicest guys you will meet. Their band actually started as a high school class assignment more or less. Had a few transitions through a few years after high school, but the two of them started the band for a class project.

Someone had said the Bellwether lineup was coming in Feb this year. Do we have confirmation on that?
