Pixes were the worst show I’ve seen in my 28 years. Alt-J is pretty boring but that’s what I expect from them. They do a pre’ tasty show regardless. I actually like a handful of Pixies songs and both times I saw them open up for Weezer it was excruciating. Maybe I was just at bad shows but man it was tough. The band was way off tempo, they forgot words, started playing 2 different songs, and the audio was not balanced

My Chemical Romance is back on the menu, bois I think Goldenvoice (AEG) is putting on the show they announced so I'm hoping that means they'll do Coachella and maybe other ones by them (meaning Bunbury could maybe get them?!). Would a reunion of them be good enough to headline Bunbury? Not imo but I could be wrong?

I consider them of higher caliber than Greta Van Fleet and The 1975 by far. Also, they fit Bunbury's history of booking high billed punk and emo bands (Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Blink 182 (twice) and The Killers). I still think Panic! could headline but MCR seems like a real possibility

I forget their music but if you say they could headline then I am down. Good point too, they absolutely fill that headliner punk spot

I'm 100% DTF seeing My Chemical Romance. My middle school self would be pumped to see them up there. Anyone seen Gerard Way recently though? He's looking rough and I can't see him going crazy on stage anyone without having an asthma attack...

Good point too, they absolutely fill that headliner punk spot I think they're in a situation where their popularity actually grew after they broke up and the hype built for a reunion. I think they might've been a 5-8 spot prior to the breakup but have been bumped up a notch. I know a lot of people who are SUPER excited for a potential tour. I'd be totally down for them to headline.

Anyone who went in 2019, how was fallout boys crowd? I'm kind of thinking that with the heavy emphasis on pop-punk type music last year there may be an over reaction the other direction. Although I'm not sure that was the major problem with the lineup. But my thought process, being college-aged so of course this is skewed, was I saw a lot of people excited for the 1975, but I heard nothing about fall out boy.
But at this point in their career fall out boy is as punk as maroon 5 is indie

Bunbury should just spend the entire budget on Rage Against the Machine and call it a day.
For real though: Sonic Temple should do whatever they can to get a lineup of them on Saturday and sandwiched between Metallica sets. Probably too expensive.

I believe the 2 nights of Metallica actually saved them some money in the long run. They definitely struck some sort of deal with them. Sonic Temple’s tickets are more expensive than the other 4 festivals with Metallica headlining. DWP was also pushing them to reunite last year. In an interview Danny Wimmer said the Rage against the Machine was their bucket list band to headline, followed by Pearl Jam and a form of Jack White. Festival Owl reported that they will headline other festivals throughout 2020. It looks quite like that Sonic Temple will get them.

They both played recently but Andrew McMahon and AWOLNATION just announced a tour and oddly skip Cinci out of all cities BUT have shows booked through Bunbury weekend. Louisville isn't listed though so I could see both those acts playing Forecastle tbh.

Angels and Airwaves announced new dates and is going to be at Bogarts December 15th.
I know people here are going to be fired up for that. I remember Whitney saying they were trying to gauge interest in them as an act so maybe this a trial run to do a festival or two in the midwest 6 months later. I feel like if it sold well they could come back for Bunbury since they are playing a small venue.

Last year through everything out the window when it came to scheduling bands that have already played Cincinnati. I don't think it matters what size the venue is they are playing. Playing the day before Bunbury probably doesn't even take bands off the table.

Foals and Local Natives are co-headlining a tour and play Boston on the 6th of June but no date on the 5th so they are both possibilities at this point. They don't hit Ohio currently on the tour.

Foals was my favorite show of 2019 so far.. and I’ve seen like 200 shows. Would love them and Local Natives. Also, as I posted in another thread... My current predictions for the top 4 are Tame Impala, Vampire Weekend, Lizzo, and My Chemical Romance.

That top lineup feels like just enough to get people happy about the lineup without having to raise our expectations too much. I'm going to set my bar at this set of headliners. This could get me there with a solid undercard.

I’d love some massive headliner (well, in my opinion) like Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, or Rage Against the Machine, but I can’t help but feel like all of them are highly unlikely — The Killers mostly because they recently headlined (2017?) Edit: 2016. It’s possible they’d come back. I’d be cool with that, if only because I’ve never seen them.

They both have to be expensive and it’s probably a much better investment to get a different style of artist in to that headliner spot to get more people to buy tickets

They're a hell of a headliner. Foals and Local Natives would be good gets as well, but I also feel like they're more of a Forecastle feel. Of course, its still possible Forecastle moves from Louisville to Nashville, which I sure hope does not happen.

I don’t disagree with point two though. For what its worth, there are a few talent booking sites that give rough costs as to artists' prices. One appears to be a bit outdated as it it shows Tame Impala to be 150-250k, and I've read 800k+ for Tame in other places. That site also says Vampire Weekend is between 300 and 500k, and another site says Vampire Weekend is "under 500k". For what its worth, the big headliners Bunbury have had (The Killers, Florence, Fall Out Boy, Jack White) are all listed as 500k to 1 mil. In short, I don't think its crazy to entertain the possibility of Vampire Weekend and Tame Impala based on price point. Will they book two alternative/indie rock headliners though? That remains to be seen.

The undercard was incredibly weak as far as name recognition and success. It was like they just booked two headliners, and then skipped down and booked from the fifth line down.

Big disagree there. “As far as name recognition and success.” Granted it’s far from a true success tracker, but the average “monthly listener” numbers for Mo Pop on Spotify put Bunbury to shame. I’d say there was way more recognition for Mo Pop. And they have a tendency of getting artists lower-billed before they blow up (Billie Eilish, Alec Benjamin, Lizzo, Dermot Kennedy to name only a couple from the last two years).

Got my first decent tip last night for the 2020 lineup. I asked my source if My Chemical Romance is in talks with Promowest for a summer tour. The exact words were "Yes, we have been talking to them about their tour but we aren't 100% positive if we are going to book a traditional show with them or have them at Bunbury however most of the discussions are leaning towards Bunbury"
I will happily take that!
