Bunbury is going full steam ahead, given they just filed paperwork for the weekend of the 5th. Estimated audience: 48k (3 day combined)

If you have tickets are you going? Or would you go if you were on the fence? My anxiety wouldn't get me there I don't think even if I had tickets. Feels too soon still, but I know everyone's different on feelings towards this whole thing.

The only way I can get her to NOT go out is because of the varying orders from the governors. If they say "go at your own risk," she'll go. I'm sure we'll be able to snag a cheap ticket.

Sellout is 60k over 3 days and even before all this, I didn't see the lineup getting close to 60k. I thought maybe 40 to 50k, relying heavily on 21P to carry those sales. With this COVID situation, I think its safe to assume all ticket sales have pretty much grinded to a complete halt, and will stay that way over the next 6 to 8 weeks. So many people are out of work tat even if it is safe to hold, I just don't see a huge surge in tickets. I think there is an outside chance that if it is held, there is a big showing from young people who are looking to get out and party somewhere, anywhere, and are not afraid of the virus (Exhibit A: the spring breakers). For the festivals that are able to move to the fall, I think they'll do okay, simply because other major fests cancelling (Firefly, Gov Ball, probably Hangout and probably Boston Calling) have left MASSIVE holes in the market. The saddest part is, these festivals canceling actually put together stronger lineups than they've had in several years.

Bunbury will nearly sell out I’ll bet, since no other fests are going on. I’m happy to hear it’s still a-go, but I have to think some acts will drop out? Who knows.

refunds will be given too which is good on them vs. what we've seen some other festivals do.

Not even trying to reschedule it looks like. Can't imagine that would be easy after so many already have.

Not even trying to reschedule it looks like. Can't imagine that would be easy after so many already have. Festival Owl has been keeping a running calendar of rescheduled festivals and September looks like total madness. Probably 4 or 5 festivals each weekend, they probably wouldn't have been able to get most of the lineup on any dates at this point.

I know they book everything sometimes far enough in advance that I wonder if they are trying to get a jump on next year now that they've decided to cancel. Might be able to scoop up some names that other festivals haven't locked in yet due to them rescheduling theirs for the fall and what not.

So thankful there are refunds. I’ll 100% be going next year just because of that. The cash will come in so very handy right now.
See you all in December for another round of speculation.
And maybe see some of you at Shaky Knees in October? 😎

Might be able to scoop up some names that other festivals haven't locked in yet due to them rescheduling theirs for the fall and what not. Curious, does that require a downpayment to the artist? I imagine their cash is tied up currently and they don't have any capital to book artists. That, and they have to pay their staff and operating expenses still. I don't think it's a positive. If anything, we're at risk of losing this festival. We're at risk of losing a lot of festivals. I don't think Bunbury is this behemoth big business that we all think it is sometimes.

I feel one thing I learned from watching those Fyre Festival docs last year was that some of these festivals give big guarantees to artists either way, I don't know if that's a common thing or what but it's certainly possible they have a ton of money tied up for sure. I really hope they survive, I don't ever want to see any local festivals go to the wayside. But this will certainly be the end for some I would have to think. I do know that provided we are able to have it and it feels safe in terms of where we are at as a state/city, I will 100% but buying a ticket to Wonderbus. I'm craving live music! (although I LOVE the innovation that artists and dj's have been showing with the instagram/youtube live stream sets).

Happy to see Bunbury made the right call, and glad to see they are refunding ticket holders. Very curious to know if they are working to book for next year already, or if they are even in a place to do that at this time. If they are, they probably won't be alone. Governors Ball also cancelled, as did Firefly and Boston Calling, all June festivals.

So now that this whole thing fell apart, any chance we can get some inside info on what the heck happened with the bookings? All the drama of things falling through?
