Do we really think that Smashing Pumpkins would settle for an undercard slot at Bunbury after headlining Shaky Knees? I vote no on that. They seem like one that would be headliner or nothing, based on price and prestige. Plus, Billy Corgan has always had a pretty massive ego. Can't think he'd settle for less than headliner. Exactly. I was thinking more specifically of his ego.

They haven't had a legitimate hit in 20 years, so newer fans are rare and they've lost mainstream appeal. And older fans don't flock like they used to because they're upset about lineup changes. If we had a year that was lighter on powerhouse headliners I'd put then in Incubus' spot but they're easily the weakest ticket-mover of those five.

If all of our insight is correct, I would lean towards at least 1 of these top 5 to be incorrect

But they are headlining Shaky Knees, which while more indie-rock heavy, has become a pretty heavy hitter of a festival (one which honestly always appeals to me more than Bunbury). I don't agree with them being billed above Yeah Yeah Yeahs at SK, but that's where it is right now.

Quick side note for a minute:
My friends band CAAMP was in contract negotiation with Bunbury, but after their addition to the Lumineers tour, it appears they aren't going to make it to Bunbury. However, Trampled by Turtles is supposed to still be at Bunbury.
I know this isn't any concrete info, but just trying to share what I know

Good on them for booking a support slot on that big a tour though.

Not sure how i feel about those 3 headliners. Not bad for sure but the undercard will really be what sells this for me. glass animals what realyl guarantee that for me.

Saw them at Forecastle last year and really enjoyed them. Would have loved to seen “Peach Fuzz” live.

Yeah, The Smashing Pumpkins seem pretty unlikely to me. And, we very rarely share headliners with them. Jack White is the only one I can think of.

And while I don't believe Beanie Eyelash is really going to be coming to Cincy in the middle of two South American shows, I'm still worried now. MCR, a pop act, and en EDM act is not going to do it for me. I'm going to need a top indie act (i.e. MUSE, Killers, Black Keys, Jack White) on the top line like the Bunbury glory days.

Well...just checked Reddit, and the same person who leaked the full lineup poster last year just posted about the 2020 lineup. Said they heard it's Billie Eilish, Marshmello, and MCR.
I think we can fairly confidently say MCR is a lock and the other two are looking very probable

It's the same weekend this year, and they say revealed "mid-January."

You're probably right. Hoping for a more mature undercard. From my understanding a big reason for Marshmello's success is that his music is easy to digest and popular with teenagers. Billie is a teenager herself. And it's hard to say what MCR's audience will look like since they've only had one show since the return, but I imagine it'll be pretty evenly split between teenagers just now going through their emo phase, and 20s-30s fans like me who've been around since their first couple albums.

Anyone could see if that if they search Festive Owl's mentions. If they get the info from someone other than the festival itself they will usually confirm or deny it. Got a response to message them on Facebook, but so far no responses. Figured if the people from Bunbury are well aware of this board being out there that it's fair game to ask since it's not in Private Messages.

I am curious though, does Bunbury actually admin this board? I noticed they changed the background photo and also added the folder for 2020 hive hints. Also, removed the older 2019 and 2018 spec threads

They are just aware enough of the board since they are willing to essentially advertise the board by retweeting the Tweets about discussing the clues over on the board here. For all we know, somebody on here could be with Bunbury. It's not like we know who everyone is individually.

They seem to come from multiple sources and are all coordinated. The three headliners, but no undercard. After last year's lackluster lineup and the hype for this year's considerably lower, I seriously wonder if this isn't on purpose.

Still holding out hope we’re being trolled.
MCR + Lizzo + Tame Impala
:]
Tame feels like a fit just based on his tour dates around Bunbury.

Finally that reddit thread is moving into discussing this year. It's been sitting dormant since right after last year. I check it entirely too much clearly haha.
I'm actually fairly surprised more artists aren't announcing tours that would give us an idea of an undercard. Typically they announce winter/spring tours that will lead right up to that time frame but I havent' seen much other than Kesha and Big Frieda being out for Bunbury since they do a stop in Cinci a week or so before hand.
Also WonderStruck's lineup will give us a good idea of some potentials since there is almost always crossover when it's on the same weekend as Bunbury. So I hope they announce that like next week.
NOTE: they also do WonderBus here locally so that lineup might shed some light on a few acts that could also come to Columbus a few months later?
