Looks like Jack Harlow will be a headliner at Forecastle. Does nothing for me, but I’m sure it will be popular with a lot of others here in Louisville.
Curious to see how the lineup shakes out.

I saw that, and agree wholeheartedly. I guess it'll get some folks excited, and probably boost the high school/college demographic, but it seems like kind of a lazy booking for a headliner position. I assume he's probably significantly cheaper, since he's not headliner level at other festivals yet. In fact he was 4th/5th line at bigger festivals this year like Lolla and ACL, behind acts like St. Vincent, Black Pumas, and MGK. If the other headliners are back from the 2020 lineup, and we get Jack Harlow, Cage the Elephant and Jack Johnson as headliners (Assuming no 1975 because of their gender equality at festivals policy, and Forecastle usually doesn't get to 50/50 male/female artists), I will be pretty disappointed. That being said, I have tickets to Wonder Road and Wonderbus, so I'd probably only do a single day anyway, if there were some good bands.

Speak of the devil, Forecastle just added an event page with the 2022 dates on Facebook and said that more news will be coming soon! I am hoping for a good lineup, the 2020 one fell kinda flat for me. The headliners seemed kinda boring, and no one stood out as "the big one" that they typically get. Lol I'm going to attribute their activity to us putting it out into the universe! I'm excited to see what they offer. With them moving it to the Spring, it clears the deck for me to do another one (either just Wonderbus or maybe a third) at some other point in the year. Are there other fests that take place during Memorial Day weekend? Outside of Vegas always having a huge lineup of DJ's and acts performing at clubs I'm not sure what else takes place over that weekend.

Don't love that. That has to be because he is a local guy right? That would be a day I would skip the headliner and leave to go check out the nightlife or something. I hope it's because he's local and not indicative of where their booking is ultimately heading this year.

Otherwise he'd definitely be a 2nd or 3rd line act, at the very highest. I know he is a big deal down there, and has a big following. Like I said in another post, this just seems like a really lazy booking and a way to get a cheap headliner that will still draw a crowd. He was a 4th/5th line act at bigger fests this year. I'm genuinely hoping the money that I assume they saved with this booking will go toward a real showstopper of a headliner for another day. Tame Imapla, Florence, Jack White, Foo Fighters would all be cool. I'm thinking they definitely book someone more folky, Lumineers would be a good get. However, I'm thinking they could go the easy route and book another local in My Morning Jacket, or get the Avett Brothers for the 100th time

He’s doing a run of shows right now here at 5 different venues. The Avett Brothers are playing here on 3/26/22 and are already booked Forecastle weekend in NY/VT, so they are out. But, I would not have been surprised if they were on the list before I saw that. Ha

Nothing against the Avetts, but they headlined Forecastle in 2014, 2016, and 2019, and headlined Bunbury in 2015 and 2020 (cancelled). I can understand having an act back after some time, but talk about oversaturation lol.

I'm sure some people feel that same about Twenty One Pilots, but I think they do less shows around Ohio than what you'd think for them touting the Columbus roots. I may just pre-book a hotel room for that weekend ahead of time and see what the lineup is and then cancel if I need to if it's a very MEH lineup. I haven't had the time yet but has anyone looked at touring schedules to see who some possibilities could be? I know early June there are a lot of overseas festivals but usually those acts don't head that way until early June vs. May.

I’d consider going for one day of Forecastle if Cage the Elephant carries over from 2020.

Forecastle has updated their logo and is teasing “exciting updates tomorrow”. Hoping it’s a lineup, but the way they’re doing things this year, I feel like they’re gonna tease us with a few acts at a time.

VERY tempted to book a hotel now for Memorial Day Weekend and Forecastle and see how things shake out with the lineup. I know hotels went FAST last time and with it being Memorial Day weekend too…

Are there traditionally any other festivals that weekend? I can't remember when it comes to Memorial Day weekend. I'm sure there's big events and stuff with DJ's and what not, but those acts aren't typically booked at Forecastle anyways.

Still a lot of hotels available, I snagged one with some Hilton pts, about four blocks from the Fest.

Looks like Boston Calling is the same weekend (I’m sure radius clauses won’t apply for that) but I would have to guess anyone on the WonderRoad lineup will be out. If what I heard is true it could be exciting. Hearing Forecastle spent a lot on the lineup this year (most ever). Will see what that actually translates to. And if true, another headliner is a band from Australia that has 2 words as their name. The second word being an antelope found in Africa.

The radius, coupled with the fact that the festivals are two weeks apart makes that seem impossible

Fingers crossed the lineup includes Tame and they go all out! Now time to start looking at tour schedules and see who is possible for the weekend. Glass Animals are out, they are doing a show in Louisville in March. I wonder if they will keep some of the acts they had booked previously before canceling the festival? (sending up good vibes for Carley Rae Jepsen to be back on this years lineup)

So here's my best guess at what we can expect based on what we know and our conjecture:
Tame Impala-My Morning Jacket-Cage the Elephant- Jack Harlow Phoebe Bridgers-Rainbow Kitten Surprise-The Head and the Heart-Of Monsters and Men Mt. Joy-Saint Motel-Third Eye Blind-Carly Rae Jepsen-Manchester Orchestra-Soccer Mommy
I came up with this based on rumors, bands on other festival lineups, bands from the 2020 lineup, and some bands like MMJ, Phoebe Bridgers, Head &Heart, that just make a ton of sense for this festival. I took into consideration that the budget is supposedly bigger. I put Jack Harlow at #4, because even though he's a big deal in Louisville, I think this is where he fits. Forecastle has a history of billing 4 acts as headliners, usually with 2 of them finishing the festival out back to back on the main stage on Sunday.

I was looking at other festivals around the same time and Phoebe, The Head and the Heart make a ton of sense. I also think Harlow being 4 would be correct. I thought he was a top 3 until I heard that Forecastle spent a lot on the lineup this year. I am not sure MMJ will be there. I’ve heard they no longer like to play Louisville and the person I got some info from is a major MMJ fan and feel like they would have been told if they were on the lineup. But, maybe they just didn’t say anything about it. I also could see Moon Taxi and Beabadoobee being on the lineup.

Well, if no MMJ, I think The Lumineers are a strong possibility. They already have one festival on the calendar, and with their new album, I feel like more are on the way. The Black Keys seem like a solid choice, if not the most exciting. Kacey Musgraves would probably sell well. DMB has been doing a lot of festivals lately. Foo Fighters would be a HUGE get, But they have been on literally every line up the last few years, so who knows.
We can go ahead and eliminate Jack White. He has shows booked on every night of forecastle.

Lumineers could be possible. I was also thinking Foo Fighters, but to me it all depends on what ‘they spent the most ever’ translates to. The 2014 lineup was the best ever and I was told a couple years ago to never expect a lineup like that again. But, if they spent more than that then I wonder. (Also, I’m sure bookings have not gotten cheaper in the last 8 years)

(Also, I’m sure bookings have not gotten cheaper in the last 8 years) Yeah they must've spent a fortune on the headliners that year, especially Outkast and Jack White. Both of those acts were at every major festival, including Lolla, Coachella, and Bonnaroo that year. And Beck is definitely a solid headliner as well, could not have been cheap. Compared to some of the B or C list headliners we typically get (Modest Mouse, Weezer, Anderson Paak, Odesza, etc.) that balance out the A listers (Arcade Fire, The Killers, etc.), I have no doubt believing that's a type of lineup we won't see again. And honestly, they do not need to book three big headliners to pack in crowds. It's always very well attended, and dconsistently outdrew Bunbury, despite them having bigger name headliners. They have a comfort zone as far as crowd size and what types of lineups they use. Fans expect that and it seems to be working well. That being said, I'd love to see a real strong lineup with a couple big names at the top.

Well, someone on inforoo referenced this forum on the Forecastle thread, mentioning they saw the Tame rumor here. So it's entirely possible. I'd assume the people that book these lineups are big music fans just like us, and are aware of these boards. Especially since Bunbury was Forecastle's biggest direct competition. So coming here to see what Bunbury's biggest fans want in a festival seems like a great idea. So, if there are any Forecastle (or Promowest) people here, BOOK FLORENCE.
