With Joel providing information on FireFly's lineup and with the release also of Hangout Festival's lineup. Which are two weeks before and two weeks after Bunbury, good chance Bunbury will have some similar artists. Here's the lineups for both... let the speculating, or just sharing your hopes and dreams begin.

One more note. As per some friends I have in the know, Bunbury will not be releasing anything until February again this year despite other festivals releasing early.
I know Nelsonville Festival will be releasing some of their lineup either this week or early next week based on their response to me on their Facebook page. Nelsonville is the same weekend as Bunbury this year.
Unfortunately those friends I have in the know don't get any early info on the lineup itself.

Ugh wish they would announce earlier. Any word on if they are doing Hive Hints again?

Sadly I don't have any other info that that. My friends work for one of the newspapers so they get alerted to certain things ahead of time, but Promowest is pretty good for not spilling much information to them until they are ready for it to get out from themselves.
They also said that they wouldn't be saying anything about the return of the Buckle Up Festival until at least January.
Nelsonville is going to announce it's first round of acts today. They dropped Mac DeMarco earlier in the week. I'm assuming that anybody they announce can probably be stricken from the list of potential Bunbury acts since they are the same weekend this year.
It kind of sucks because I love the Nelsonville Festival. If they announce some acts I really like, I will probably end up buying tickets before we even get a whiff of Bunbury's lineup.

Well Nelsonville's first announcement was a bit underwhelming. Not too much crossover with people who we would be looking for to play Bunbury.
Randy Newman Tallest Man on Earth Mac DeMarco Badnotgood Angel Olsen Twin Peaks Marco Benevento Son Little All Them Witches Michael Hurley Daniel Bachman Joan Shelley Mojoflo

Any word on clues this year? I guess if they aren't announcing until February there is still time for that. Wish they wouldn't wait that long....

I haven't heard anything new.
Was just noticing based off of your Promowest List above, Leon Bridges is playing for Promowest June 2nd in Indy, June 3rd in Pittsburgh, and then doesn't have anything on the schedule until the next Wednesday in St Louis, and then Louisville.
Leon Bridges is going to be my first call of the year. He's also touring with Andra Day, so I would probably put her on the list too.

I'm always amazed when I look these artists up on Spotify that I see 18 million plays of one song and I've never heard of it! His next best songs at 9 and 8 millions plays respectively. Where are these people hiding from me!

I believe there were 4-5 artists last year who played Gov. Ball that were also at Bunbury. Here's this years Lineup.

The Strokes, Beck, Of Monsters and Men, Courtney Barnett, De La Soul, Cold War Kids, and Elle King to name a few.

Another round of Nelsonville announcements today. I'm guessing that Nelsonville and Bunbury won't share acts. Assuming that is the case, you can cross off Gary Clark Jr, Courtney Barnett, and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats off your wish list.
Other acts announced:
Fruit Bats Steve Poltz John Moreland The Wild Reeds Hanba Jack Wright.

One more note today.
Florence and the Machine just announced a tour. They are playing Saturday June 4th in Cleveland. They have June 3rd and June 5th open before playing in Boston on June 7th.
Sounds like a pretty good bet that we might be looking at a headliner here. They are also playing with Of Monsters and Men through June 2nd. And they are playing with Grimes from June 4th to the end of their tour. So either of those two bands also might make an appearance.

Yeah, I've been guessing Florence would headline this year for a few months now and with this announcement, I'm pretty confident in that guess.

I did it the last two years and felt that last year's wasn't nearly as good as the year prior. I have many reasons but it really boils down to the people - they just weren't really into the "festival" vibe overall. Seemed like a lot of corporate types or people that have more money than they know what to do with. The last time I did general admission the headliners weren't as good as the undercard so I didn't mind chilling in the back of the lawn at the end of the night.

Somebody said something to them on Twitter and they just said "soon". Last year the first Hive Hint was around January 31st. Since they've already said the announcement will be about the same time this year (The end of February) I'm guessing that the Hive Hints will probably start about the same time as last year as well.

Today Weezer/Panic! at the Disco announced a co-headlining tour with Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness as support. Historically all of these bands usually have a stop in Ohio on their tours, and in the past they've all played Promowest venues. They have no Ohio stops on the tour which starts the week after Bunbury, and Bunbury has also booked a co-headlining tour before (Fall Out Boy/Paramore) so it isn't too unrealistic of a guess I think.

I saw that too and it wouldn't surprise me. Weezer played the first Bunbury and Panic has played in Cincy a few times in the last ten years and gotten a good crowd. Panic seems to fit the bands that were booked two years ago (FOB and Paramore) and since Promowest bought the show they might not have that same direction in mind. We'll see! Wouldn't call it a long shot.

Also Panic! is in Germany during Bunbury except Sunday, so you can pretty much completely rule them out.

Nathaniel Rateliff has Thursday marked for Nelsonville, and then nothing during Bunbury. Maybe Thursday is just marked since its the first day of the festival? But for FIrefly they have every date down for that.

Looking like both Florence and the Machine and Of Monsters and Men are playing in Cleveland on Saturday the 4th. OMAM are playing Governor's Ball either that Friday or Sunday. Then they are in Massachusetts Tuesday the 7th. My guess is if they're at Bunbury, it would be Friday. They would go Cincy to Cleveland to NYC to Massachusetts to Montreal. I would love both to come to Bunbury. Keeping my fingers crossed.
