Chainsmokers didn’t look like they were doing anything on stage like their set could’ve been them playing Spotify, but I will say that drummer they brought out was pretty cool. Young the giant was great how I expected. Fitz was okay but I’m not a big fan to begin with. Went with royal blood bc I missed them last time and they are fun live! Broken foot didn’t hold them back at all! As far as front bottoms vs. Allan Rayman, I went with Allan bc I figured the front bottoms your pretty frequently. Allan Rayman has to be the drunkest I’ve ever seen anyone on stage it was absurd or that’s just how he is, however he still sounded pretty good though. Welshman was cool and so were the wrecks, good day all in all! Wish I could’ve seen Bishop Briggs though

Wish I could’ve seen Bishop Briggs though Bishop was great from the pit, but I heard from a few friends up top that the sound was really off and they could only hear the bass. I'm assuming that was cause by them rushing to set up the sound equipment after the rain delay. I don't think they even did a sound check. Today was awesome and I am already worn out. I enjoyed the chainsmokers a lot more than I though I would, and since I really enjoyed bassnectar last year I think I should look into some EDM fests. Anyone have any recommendations?

We were Midway up the wall and didn't notice any audio issues. The rest of my people did Royal Blood and loved it so it sounds like you couldn't go wrong.

We stayed for all of Young the Giant and loved it! Then we found our friends at Chainsmokers and I didnt hate what I was hearing. I couldnt see what they were doing up there but the big dubstep breakdowns were kind of fun. We left before they finished though to beat the traffic. Shout out to Promowest for keeping the main stage entrance open for people to leave out of. That is VERY clutch.

Quick day 1 review:
-The Wrecks were really good. Found myself looking up their songs at 3am
-Front Bottoms were good
-Royal Blood was amazing as always. The storm soaked us, but we waited as close to the stage as possible and got our spot back on the rail post shower
-Caught half of Fitz and enjoyed it
-Young the Giant was better than expected. So much energy
-Chainsmokers horrible and we left
-Last I checked, Gang of Youths apparently still in?

You can check out breakaway in Columbus as well they have some edm

I saw Bassnectar for the first time at Bunbury last year (I was hip to him for YEARS before just never really went to shows), and I have seen him 5 times since then. The thing is, his festival shows have NOTHING on his shows he puts on himself. Especially if you like old school Nectar If you are looking to see the King of Sound again, I'd recommend checking out Electric Forest so you get a whole festivals worth of EDM. If you can't make EF, you got to try your best to make it to Fall Gathering down in Hampton, VA. I'll be there for Basscenter and you bet your ass the bass is going to melt your face off. If you just want EDM and close by, check out Lost Lands near Columbus. I have heard NOTHING but good things about that festival. It was clean, great music, cool people, I have to make it this year. The Headliner for Lost Lands (Excision) has REALLY aggressive dubstep which is great, but I love a good blend of heavy/melodic and that's why Bassnectar is my favorite live artist, he fucking kills it every show and every show is unique.

My GF loved a green sherbet Front Bottoms shirt but is not a huge fan of the band. The merch area is much smaller than in previous years.

I thought it was really bass-y too and I was standing at the back of the pit. She has good energy, I just get turned off when the “band” is two guys that may or may not actually be playing their instruments.

We sat near the top of the wall on the right and couldn’t hear lyrics at all. The bass was RIDICULOUSLY too loud. It might just be the acoustics of that stage though

The River Stage sound booth is at the top of the stairs. If the sound wasn’t the greatest, it’s presumably how the artist wanted it mixed. The sound booth guys are usually pretty competent.

We had a great time! Was thankful for the rain that pushed YTG back a bit (although it did mean we had to leave Royal Blood earlier than I wanted...they were great) Didn't have to leave Fitz early to get back to YTG though, so we didn't miss any of either. Fitz and YTG were amazing. Got real close. Got a wink from Fitz since I was singing every song lol 🤣
Was glad to have VIP for Chainsmokers actually. Grabbed some Mikey's, sat on the patio and recovered a bit. They were more entertaining than anticipated. Loved the old school stuff they broke out. I guess they push buttons well enough, so it was kind of fun. Stage effects and lights were fun.
Have fun today everybody!

Talked to one of the cops yesterday and they said that the fest was genuinely sold out. There’s a limit to how many people they had a permit to admit to the park and they reached it. Cops said this is the largest attendance they’ve ever had by a large margin.
Even though there are A TON of people, everyone was super nice out there. Chainsmokers was packed but people still weren’t rude where we were standing around the soundboard.
I’ll be curious to see how the clientele shifts today. Lots of middle school girls dressed like fairy’s trying to do the “Coachella look” with sequins and shit on their face.
I expect it to be crazy muddy today

I expect it to be crazy muddy today I remarked to my wife when we got home that I only saw one cop all day and almost no security issues. To be honest, I think the only arrest in the history of this festival is a guy that refused to get down from a tree. People are incredibly chill. You get a few that push their way up front but I don’t make a stink about it. If it’s that important to them, they can have it. I did have a good laugh though. At YTG, these rude drunk women pushed their way through and then stopped in front of me. After ten minutes of waiting they go “is this Fitz?” And I said no, they already played at the other stage. “What other stage?” The main one, where Chainsmokers are going to be. “Oh, ok move” and then they pushed their way back out of the crowd. Lol how drunk were you.

Dang. The lead singer for Third Eye Blind said they almost had to cancel too because of throat problems he was having.

I really loved the Vesperteen and GRIZ sets today! Tried to see Arizona, but we weren't even able to see the river stage so we went to Andrew instead. It seemed like there were SO many more people today than there were yesterday which was odd because both days sold out so you'd think there would be the same size crowd.

We couldn't believe how impossible it was to get through the 3EB crowd. Definitely seemed more packed. Wonder if 3 day pass people just skipped Friday once Blink cancelled?

I hope you all enjoyed Incubus! I was so bummed to hear that I missed they play one of my favorite songs in CBus Friday night (that they don't play very often). But their set still had a couple in it that I've never seen and was still awesome. My new most prized possession = guitar pic from after their set. 😍

Day 2 review and notes: First of all holy shit is this festival absolutely packed this year, their first official sell out and you can really tell. Misterwives was great they were a ton of fun. Third eye blind put on one hell of a show, shoutout to the frontman for sticking through illness! It was my first time seeing them live and I was very happy with their set I’m not a fan of Andrew McMahon or Arizona in particular but my girlfriend was ready to split herself in half to see both, not a good conflict for her. I went to checkout GRiZ, I’m not typically an edm guy but I had a ton of fun at his set! I really think that brand of edm is cool Foster the people were pretty good but my spot wasn’t excellent, I don’t like bouncing from stage to stage like I thought I would. Incubus, while some of my friends didn’t have an interest in going, did put in a good set from afar.

Day 2 was a "meh" chill day for me. Caught some Zoo Trippin. Magic Giant was the highlight of the day by far. So much energy. We heard some of 3EB while sitting in the shady corner of the VIP. Could not get the fuck out of there fast enough when Griz started. Saw all of Foster and it was OK. Little too poppy for me, but glad I saw him once. Incubus sounded really heavy and good. Better than I expected.
Cannot wait for Black Pistol Fire, Manchester Orchestra, Dropkick Murphys, and Jack White today. Fantastic schedule.

I'm really glad I saw them and will probably see them again at urban artifact (even though that is such a small venue compared to who they played for yesterday haha).

So Friday, I saw The Wrecks, they were fantastic. Welshly Arms were decent, a bit boring, but they sounded good. Front Bottoms were fun. Royal Blood was my favorite from Friday, unfortunate the rain came in and pushed back their set. Left after "Little Monster" as my group wanted to see Fitz, who were great as always. Young the Giant were good as expected. Watched 10 minutes of Chainsmokers and bailed. Had some Eli's BBQ. Excellent.
As for Friday, we pregamed a lot. Came down for Misterwives, who were the best in show so far this weekend. Incredible performance. Caught the last 2 songs of Magic Giant, they sounded great. Bummed I couldn't see the whole set. Third Eye Blind crowd was crazy, ended up hanging at the Serpentine Wall. They didn't sound too good from what' we could hear. Andrew McMahon was great. Hung out there for Foster, they were amazing live. Really good show, also really surprised it was their first time in Cincy. Watched Incubus from afar, enjoyed them a lot.
Saturday trumped my Friday so far. It has been a well run festival, no complaints here.
