The xx would sell me a ticket regardless of the rest of the schedule. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are also great but they feel like an act that would close the second stage. Or possibly hit the main stage right before the headliner like Blink 182 was supposed to do. I'm not a big Lorde fan, but she would be a good get for the festival. The only other ones I think that fit would be Florence or maybe Gwen Stefani (or No Doubt if they are touring next year) The Chainsmokers brought a lot of people to the festival, and people like Beyonce are headlining bigger festivals, so they could bring in a female pop act as a headliner. We wouldn't draw a Beyonce but there are plenty of female pop singers out there that would help sell out a festival. I'm not saying I want it to go that way. Just saying it's something else to add to the mix when thinking of who might be there. I was able to get a little info yesterday at a pre july 4th cookout... 1) From what my source told me, Blink will be listed on the lineup as a "headliner" just like this year however they currently are NOT planning on them closing down a stage. They are trying to book bigger acts just like this past year. 2) Source said they are going to try to get me what they call the "witch hunt list" as soon as they can get a look 3) They are trying hard to get a female artist higher up on the bill this year All for the female artist part. There are certainly a few options that could be in the headliner status based on who've they've booked in the past. Very happy to hear that Blink wont be an act to shut down the main stage. I am definitely very curious about the witch hunt list. If that tidbit you dropped about them trying to book Eminem and Paul McCartney then they must have some big names on there. I like they are aggressively trying to continue to get into that upper tier of festivals despite their capacity limits!

It sounds good until you realize that they are reaching for McCartney and Eminem and ended up with Incubus as a Saturday headliner. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Incubus, but they might be the weakest headliner that Bunbury has had yet. Strictly talking about the band's status. Not their talent.
I wonder, is the money? Festival status? Size of the Crowd? All of the above that leads to them not being able to book the big names? It's not like Paul didn't headline Firefly last year (Or the year before, can't remember) or it's not like Eminem wasn't headlining all over the place.
I am glad they are looking for big names though. It shows they aren't resting on their laurels or taking the cheapest option.

I think they do a better job than most big festivals but you know a lot of those acts/management don't think that way. I also think because the other festivals doing camping and are located in bigger spaces they can bring in more people so that's always a selling point (and $$$ point). But I also think they have been doing a good enough job that one of these times they should be able to land one of these bigger acts. Probably would only take one or two to then convince others to roll into Cinci and do it.

I would rather them spread the love and get an abundance of great artists like we had this year

They did a good job at getting acts with rabid followings to make sure to fill out the lineup so the tickets sales would be there. Like I expect them to have a solid undercard compared to bigger festivals where like if they don't book big names I'm kind of like "hm, so you mean to tell me Bonnaroo couldn't get big names and I'm supposed to pay $500+ to go" but with Bunbury I am totally down to have a solid card and headliners on the level they've been getting the past few years.

They should always be trying to get the best talent they can get. Then when they have to fall back to plan B or even plan C, they are still looking at some pretty nice talent. Even if they aren't as big a name. Little known fact, I have only stayed at Bunbury for two headliners. I love the undercards. I stayed for Fun. the first year I went and I stayed for The Avett Brothers in 2014. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to be able to see acts like Arcade Fire or Arctic Monkeys or Vampire Weekend. Not necessarily the acts as big as Paul mcCartney. But the acts that for whatever reason seem to always miss Cincinnati when scheduling their tours. I don't mind driving to Columbus, Indy, Lousiville, or Lexington to see a show. It's one of the great thing about where we live (those of us in Cincy). We never have to travel more than two hours to see just about any band. But I'd love it if more of them actually stopped in Cincy instead of hitting all the surrounding areas.

Now that you mention it, i think we like watched eah of the headliners this year but for only maybe 15 minutes. Oddly enough I think we gave the most attention to Incubus. And agreed about the traveling for shows thing. I used to be against it but now I see it as a way to explore new cities with an excuse built in.

Real interested in this witch hunt list, and yeah as far as female headliners I think we need the XX but there are for sure plenty of pop acts that could headline. Paramore maybe would be a good one. I like the size of the festival now, most of the huger acts I’d actually rather not see Once again thanks to our source on the ground, WhitneyHouston!

I just got my first tip on the "Witch Hunt List" and here it is. I am assuming that this is in no particular order of importance because the list is kind of all of the place
-Panic! At the Disco -Dua Lipa -Marshmello -Queens of the Stone Age -Arcade Fire

They will move tickets because of their fan base. Knew Marshmellow was inevitable. Wish they would go after Skrillex instead though. All the other acts I would be perfects happy with.

Yeah you’re dead on about Marshmello, I guess all things considered I really like 2 of those acts and 1 I don’t listen to but I’d still definitely see (I bet you could guess which ones). I’d rather get a less radio friendly female act than Dua Lipa but i guess 3 out of 5 for headliners is okay

Arcade Fire would be awesome, though they are still in the midst of their major world tour for the new album. Seems to me like next year would probably be a quiet one for them. Can always hope though.
I actually like Panic! At the Disco. I wouldn't buy a ticket for them, but I'd enjoy them if they were there.
Dua Lipa and Marshmello don't do anything for me. Queens of the Stone Age would be cool though.

I could be totally wrong but I swear I was hearing that Arcade was struggling to sell tickets to some of their US legs of the tour (kind of shocking so I hope I'm wrong) so maybe Promowest could get them a tad cheaper? Muse wasn't doing a ton of stuff and they got them 2 years ago so I feel like they would maybe still come do a festival. I would love to see them. QotSA is an act I'd love to see. Songs for the Deaf is still one of my favorite albums ever. Wouldn't probably go see Panic unless people I was with wanted to (which is highly likely) and Marshellow I would probably see some of just because I do like House music and if he is the only act they book I'd probably just do it for the fix but with expectations very low haha.

I just looked at Arcade Fire on ticketmaster. It looks like Thursday's show in North Carolina is only about 70 percent sold. Boston looks like about 80 percent sold next week. I would have guessed they would be sell outs, so that is surprising to me. I think their newest album went a direction a lot of Arcade Fire fans didn't like. I personally love it and I can't wait to see them at Forecastle, but I can see where that might be causing some of the lag in ticket sales. They are playing AE Stage in Pittsburgh tomorrow night, so there is a Promowest link there. It's not sold out either but it's general admission so I can't put a visual on how many tickets may be left.

Truthfully, none of the 5 artists that are on the prospective artist list would move me to buy a ticket. I wouldn't mind seeing Panic or Queens, but I also wouldn't be heartbroken if another artist overlapped them and I was unable to see them.

Agreed here, I like QotSA and Arcade Fire but there are definitely some bands I’d rather see. Panic I don’t necessarily listen to but I’ve heard they put on a great show. Seriously doubt they’re booked bc they’re playing cincy in late January though

In full transparency, I have no idea the original date of the Witch Hunt List. As I have been told, the prospects for the festival happen more than a year in advance. This could easily be the list that started before the 2018 festival happened.

Well 21 Pilots has officially announced their new tour and a new album both starting in October. Curiously the closest they get to Cincinnati or their own home town is Cleveland. Kind of makes me wonder if they don't already have something in mind down this way. Bunbury next year? The not yet announced Midpoint Festival this year which would be at the end of September?
I imagine they will make it down this way at some point.

They could do the Eminem model for Spring and Summer next year and play like every festival and then do another Tour de Columbus.

But I stakes my entire reputation on Walk the Moon being there this year so idk. All this being said 21p typically reps Ohio very well and I think they are a good booking if promowest wants to sell some tickets, I think these 2 parties have worked really well together in the past so I think we will see them on the bill in 2018
