Maybe I'm just out of touch with bigger pop acts, but I'm surprised to see Miley Cyrus on so many lineups.
Anyone have any thoughts on the 18+ restrictions on Gov Ball this year? From their website: All persons aged 17 and under MUST attend with an adult who is 21 or older. Each adult must have a valid form of ID and may accompany up to TWO ticket holders aged 17 or younger. All individuals must arrive together, via the same entrance, and all individuals must have valid wristbands/tickets.

They are going with their older sibling who isn't going to watch them. The teenagers are still going to get into the shenanigans

They are going with their older sibling who isn't going to watch them. The teenagers are still going to get into the shenanigans They've had SERIOUS problems the last few years with large groups of high school students coming in, using drugs and drinking underage and causing a lot of problems. Everyone on the GovBall subreddit was very grateful for this, but all the teenagers on Instagram were furious. There were some serious horror stories on Reddit. The Founders finally took notice after thunderstorms washed out most of a day last year, and teenagers rioted, damaging property, stealing from vendors, and even destroying art installations. That got their attention. From what the leak shows, they are moving away from hip hop and edm, and booking for a much more mature lineup. Right now their top 3 appears to be Tame, Stevie Nicks, and Vampire Weekend, but multiple sources report they are trying to lock down one more big name headliner before dropping the lineup. If true, it'll be a stacked lineup and a good sign for Bunbury. Bonnaroo seemed to move away from rap this year too, after having two of their 3 headliners from that genre last year.

I'm always a little bit surprised when festivals book lineups that seem to be targeting 16-21 year olds. You'd think 25-35 would be the biggest target demographic, maybe even 21-30, because those people are going to spend the most on booze. A 16 year old can hang onto barricade for 14 hours running on nothing but a large iced coffee and three french fries.

Also, much less of a liability for overdoses and underage drinking. Forecastle caters to that 25+ demographic and does very well (Although a bunch of teens still show up for party cove to "rage" since its a festival, but they stay in a small area). In 2017 they focused more on rap and edm and had a lot of problems. To me, the lineups Gov Ball and Roo put together are very smart.

God damnit there’s no way I can’t do Roo now this year, that lineup is insane to me. I’m thrilled with it but I already know there will be heartbreaking conflicts

My ass is 29 today and camping rail the past few years has really started kicking my ass. It mostly sucks because people DON’T SIT BETWEEN SETS.
Thank God Bunbury’s VIP is affordable at least. Phew.

Although it's a improvement over PHISH PHISH PHISH from last year, that's a heck of a letdown of a lineup. Largely bands I've seen in the last year, with the notably interesting acts of Miley Cyrus, Tenacious D, and Lana Del Rey.

Has anyone heard a single whisper about Boston Calling? They've got two headliners announced and they're expected to drop the lineup this week but I've seen zero semi-reliable rumors

Jfc wish I was going to Boston Calling.
Sneaky expensive though. A GA is as much as VIP at Bunbury.

Is it just me, or does this seem like one of the most expensive collection of grabs i've seen in a long time? Curious to see if the undercard has any action at all

Curious to see if the undercard has any action at all They literally nabbed both of the rock acts that like everyone throws around every year of being the rock act at their festival and then the biggest reunion in years. That had to be a bonkers amount of $$$ to make that happen!

Honestly, Boston calling books really strong headliners almost every year (2019 was a little soft imo) but I don't think I've seen a top 3 this strong nor this consistent in genre. In years past they've also had STACKED subs and undercards, so I'm super curious to see what happens with those this year. Its possible they're still great. In 2018, they had 3 top tier headliners (Eminem, The Killers, Jack White) and still booked an incredible undercard that included Queens of the Stone Age, The National, Paramore, Khalid, Tyler the creator, Portugal. the Man and more.

Wonderstruck posted they will have two of the the bands that recently appeared on Billboard's top 10 singles of the decade. Those bands are:
Panic! Imagine Dragons Twenty One Pilots Lumineers Walk the Moon Portugal the Man
Which two would you guess? I'm going Panic and TOP. Starting to think I may go there rather than Bunbury.

I'd be very surprised if they could afford anyone other than PTM and WTM. Unless they are trying to rapidly expand the size of their festival, which is possible with the new festival grounds. But with the ticket prices of $85 for two days, I just don't see them affording ToP, Imagine Dragons or Lumineers. MAYBE Panic, but I doubt it. The way I see it, we just got their two headliners, which makes both of them more likely for Bunbury. That makes me happy, I'd love to see PTM and WTM.

I mean, it's the same weekend as Bunbury and I don't recall there being much overlap between Laurelive and Bunbury before.

Shared no acts last year, but shared 5 in 2018. It’s now the same weekend, so I think there could be more overlap this year.

We need to take a step back real quick--Just actually looked at the aforementioned post myself, the exact words were "#WonderStruck salutes the "Top Rock Songs of the Decade." Wouldn't it be nice to host a couple of these bands one year. A festival can dream too, right?" They never actually said they had any bands from that list, they were just sharing it. Maybe those two bands are possible, but that wasn't actually a clue.

One of the hottest bands in the rock scene currently, The Hu, a Mongolian band blending traditional Chinese instruments and metal has been added to the Sonic Temple lineup. I always appreciate and enjoy the addition of foreign bands on their lineup like Babymetal or Amon Amarth. Not sure how well it would really work for bunbury, but I wouldn't hate seeing someone like Die Antwoord or One ok rock there (just two multilingual bands that I thought could fit the fest, of course there are a ton more). Not saying the festival would be better with it, but I don't think it would hurt. Just conversing!

Still no sign of a Boston Calling or Firefly lineup. Really wondering what's happening behind the scenes with both of them. That really is weird. Usually they are out by now or at least we know a lot of info about them. And the Gov's Ball one too. Wonder if something like Govs Ball or Boston Calling where they've put in big money to lock in the headliners and now they are trying to still wrangle in the undercard. Firefly I have no idea, they seem like such a wildcard when it comes to lineup year to year.
