Also, just throwing out that they're running 30% off promotion the next 24 hours. This can't be a good sign... I now have a wedding I have to be the +1 at so looks like I wont be able to attend the fest I saw this and was surprised. I feel like I know a decent amount of people that are going to it. They definitely should advertise heavy to the college kids too, they'll probably be back on campus around that time and it's a stones throw from campus so super easy to get to. I'm very intrigued to see what the set up is going to be. this is just a small sample size I have to pool from, but i've asked about 25 people and only 2 of them have even heard of it. the other 23 had no clue what I was talking about. I don't think they're marketing this very well

Looks like they have designated areas for chairs and and a shade oasis near each main stage which is a little different than most festivals. Oh I didn't even think about the idea that we could possibly bring in our own chairs and what not. I guess some festivals you see it at (big ones) and others you don't really see that. I love that idea.

...I just found out that Ben Harper performed at my elementary school assembly in the 90's. Honestly used to listen to his music a lot when I was in high school and wouldn't mind seeing him but I'm at a wedding all weekend

I feel like I should know Ben Harper's music but nothing comes to mind by him. I know some people were VERY excited that he was going to be doing a show in Columbus.

Definitely don't think any of his songs are commonly known other than Steal My Kisses. Still, seems like a strange headliner as his stuff is pretty mellow. Just a calm, Jack Johnson type, vibe

My source told me that Promowest found out Wonderbus is not selling very well. It's a shame to hear and I am curious to see what sort of turnout there is.

That is a lineup that should sell well. I realize college kids are still into Top40, Rappers we probably haven't heard of and the cheesy EDM acts but this lineup is stacked with some solid alternative bands and certainly ones with names big enough that it should produce decent sales.

Tbh WonderBus has a pretty nice line up. Unfortunately I’m broke and have spent too much money this year on shows (with more to come).
Sounds like a one-and-done fest which is a shame.

I'm looking forward to going a week from Saturday and hope there's at least a decent turnout. I'm a bit surprised to hear this, they put together a very solid lineup, and I know lineups of similar stature have done well with Laurelive. With Bunbury being down after a lackluster lineup, I thought this would be a great opportunity for them to have a strong launch, but I guess not. Either way, I'm excited to check this fest out.

WonderBus is now posting photos of Woodstock and talking about how there "IS a major music festival" commemorating Woodstock and its WOnderbus. What a weird, weird marketing strategy. Looks very desperate

Looks very desperate Yeah...I saw this and definitely cringed a little bit. I am by no means trying to poo poo this festival, as I wanted to go before I had to go to a wedding, but it's evident that it's not working out super well. It's so strange that the only music festival that ever does really well is rock on the range and breakway

Just doing Facebook Ads and a few flyers around town isn't going to cut it. I'm surprised OSU isn't doing more to promote it since it's partnering with them. I've seen noone (like local influencers and stuff like that) mentioning it at all, where as I see Breakaway being talked about all over my social channels. The balls definitely being dropped. Have we heard of any ticket #'s yet?

I play rec league hockey and have some guys who go to Ohio State and they say they've never heard of it. Pretty upsetting to know OSU isn't promoting it much.

I saw they had Festival Owl posting the Woodstock copy yesterday early evening on Twitter and places and it seemed to get more engagement than they had been getting. Maybe they'll see a slight bump in tickets. One person even stated they thought the festival had taken place back in June and was happy to see they hadn't missed it. haha not good to see people saying that.

I would’ve considered this festival, but I think walk the moon is an extremely week headliner. I don’t love most of this lineup which is why I avoided it

This Woodstock marketing is so weird to me. I like all these bands, but you can't compare them to Woodstock artists. You just can't. Maybe if you had big headliners like Florence or Arcade Fire, but not with this. I'm not an expert at marketing or branding, though I do dabble a little professionally while running political campaigns, and I think there's a pretty obvious direction they're not taking. Marketing as "one last party of the summer" or "a kickoff party to the school year" type campaign around OSU seems like a no brainer to me.

Or like announce some sponsors and stuff, like I'm not into Breakway Festival but I get their emails and yesterday they sent one out with like all of this cool stuff they will have there that people can do with like big name sponsors and I found myself saying "man, those are pretty cool new additions to that festival". Think about this............this festival is next week and we don't have a site map, or ANY indication as to who the vendors (food, beer, etc) will be. That just seems pretty weird to me.

Either way, I got two early birds for (primarily) Jenny Lewis

I might be taking my family to this.... Anyone know if there is a decent place to camp nearby? It's in the middle of Ohio State's campus. There's no where to camp. There are a shit load of hotels within walking distance though. Also a great local restaurants for wings called Roosters just down the street. Perfect family atmosphere.

But thought maybe there was a campground nearby perhaps. Trying to keep costs down {plus my youngest wants to camp soon anyway}, but I suppose a night in a hotel wouldn't be terrible. Ha

Hey Wonderbus, you can release that map any time now.... When I was reading their list of what is allowed vs. prohibited a few weeks ago I noticed they had mention like smaller lawn chairs or something and I almost caught the vibe you would be able to set up shop with chairs and stuff. I guess that's not unheard of but you don't really see that a lot so I'm kind of wondering if they are planning to set it up more like what they do at Columbus Commons for concerts or what. Again, a map would be really nice. Since it's a week away and all.

I guess its not too important to have a map super ahead of time, but at the same time, I'm not sure what the hold up could be.

Map is out. Big take away is that both stages are both right next to each other, which seems like it'll be interesting. Not entirely certain if I like that idea or not

Yeah that is an interesting set up. I've not been to one with the stages next to eachother so that'll be interesting to see how they plan to pull it off. It looks like only one or two crossovers on time should happen so maybe they just adjust the times slightly to compensate for that. It does look like they have a decent setup outside of that though. I personally was excited to see whatever this Rhinegeist Oasis thing is. A beer garden of sorts would be cool.
A friend of mine said that next weekend is OSU Campus move-in. If true, I mean I dunno how you schedule something like this on that weekend 1. those kids probably aren't coming out to this the first day back on campus and 2. it's going to be a mad house in that area since everyone filters through Lane and Ackerman to get to campus.
I still have high hopes that this will turn out to be a success.
