For everyone who loved The Revivalists, they do a small festival every year in the lead singer's hometown of Hamilton just outside of Cincy. I went two years ago and really enjoyed it. The band has even more energy when they play at home. liveforlivemusic.com/news/2019-big-river-get-down/Oh wow hell yes this is awesome. Also side note: I NEED to know how long his hair is when it's down. Its pretty long, past his shoulders. He had it down when he came out and did a song with Magic Giant earlier in the day

So I read that the estimated attendance Promowest Fest gave was 9300 per day. I'm no expert, but I'd guess WonderBus got pretty close to that. The big difference however, is the cost of the acts. From what I've found, PW Fest's headliners cost about 3x more than WonderBus, give or take. Plus, the festival site for WonderBus was actually donated by CAS. I think that because of this, we'll get a second edition of WonderBus. Also, all the reviews I've seen on social media have been very positive.

I was trying to think of anything negative about my experience with Wonderbus and I really can't. I was really impressed with their level of execution and just overall layout and operations. Nothing seemed to go wrong, everyone was having a good time and there were virtually no lines or anything even towards the later parts of the day when it got full. There was one lady that was HUSTLING to make sure all the workers were getting people lines quickly. She was the MVP of the staff both says.
I'll say that for being such a smaller scale thing, they completely blew Bunbury out of the water when it comes to like just the art/interactive stuff. The chalk wall, spray paint wall, tree swings, the Rhinegeist area, the other like backyard hang out area, the roo chute people had all sorts of activities and were getting kids involved all day. Just really knocked it out of the park with that stuff.
I saw they posted they will be back next year. I'm already fantasy booking in my mind haha.

Some Notes from the Dispatch:
The WonderBus Music & Arts Festival debuted in the CAS (formerly Chemical Abstracts Service) lawn Saturday night and continued through Sunday with a sunny vibe and a nicely-varied line-up. It was a big success on almost all counts.
The attendance was an impressive 11,000 for the weekend in a space that can be expanded to 25,000 capacity. The punishing heat didn’t dampen the spirits of the fans, who clearly responded to the fest’s design and execution. The layout of the site promoted exploration, the vendors, amusements, and a few key organizations playfully spread as if tossed onto a board game surface.
The smaller stage schedule, though, overlapped, with a distracting sound bleed coming from the larger stages.
The “Arts” were a little scarce—few artists were represented but there were amusing decorations all around.
They also go on to highlight some of the artists yesterday as well. Those were the few blurbs I found noteworthy in terms of overall opinions of how it went.

They really planned this well and executed it even better. I actually noticed several production staff members that seemed to be from the organizing team actively out in the festival ensuring things were running smoothly, something I don't readily recall at other festivals. I agree with the art and interactive side as well. Just the decorations and art really helped sell the vibe. Actually, the arches at the entrance were a really, really nice touch. So much more inviting that just a plain white tent like Bunbury has. I have definitely already assembled a wish list of artists in my head as well. This festival has a lot of potential.

Glad everyone liked it! I had a few friends that went and I heard nothing but good things from them. I drove down early Saturday morning and the setup looked pretty good! Here's to hoping we have a continued music fest in Columbus!
