Yeah that is an interesting set up. I've not been to one with the stages next to eachother so that'll be interesting to see how they plan to pull it off. It looks like only one or two crossovers on time should happen so maybe they just adjust the times slightly to compensate for that. It does look like they have a decent setup outside of that though. I personally was excited to see whatever this Rhinegeist Oasis thing is. A beer garden of sorts would be cool. A friend of mine said that next weekend is OSU Campus move-in. If true, I mean I dunno how you schedule something like this on that weekend 1. those kids probably aren't coming out to this the first day back on campus and 2. it's going to be a mad house in that area since everyone filters through Lane and Ackerman to get to campus. I still have high hopes that this will turn out to be a success. Holy shit you have to be kidding me? I have lived in Columbus my whole life and everyone knows that you go NOWHERE near campus that Saturdaymorning/afternoon. Dear god that's gonna be a nightmare...

I check the University's website: Move-In on Saturday, August 17, will start at the brand new Covelli Center. The new Covelli Center is right next to Jesse Memorial Stadium. So pretty much same scenario as it would have been if it was in the Schott like it had been years past. Essentially a block over from the festival. Now I know they do this early in the morning and all and the festival's main acts don't start until early/mid afternoon but geesh. Anyone going should either drive or Uber through north campus and come down that way. Don't go to Lane Ave or 315 at all if possible.

I don't feel like having all the stages clustered on one side of the festival could be good for the vendors, especially the ones away from the stages. It makes sense having vendors in areas between stages. I'll be interested to see how this works out too. Poor scheduling on move in weekend. Not sure who thought that was smart

Yep, definitely looks like I'm Ubering in. Should be good getting from Riverview to CAS, right?

I wound up biting the bullet on the parking pass for the two day given I plan on kicking out of Walk the Moon halfway through the set, and don't really figure on staying past three songs of Ben Harper--so I shouldn't have the biggest issue getting in and out.

Well those stages/acts will definitely be going back to back it appears. It seems like a small area that is covered in there but I can't really tell for sure. I know the grass area they have as a whole is pretty large. This looks to be around half of it?

This looks significantly smaller than the map indicates. I'm surprised they're not utilizing more space.

I think this might have something to do with the likely small number of tickets sold. Maybe they're having one master sound board under one tent and controlling both stages from it? Maybe that saves a lot of money?

I think this might have something to do with the likely small number of tickets sold. Maybe they're having one master sound board under one tent and controlling both stages from it? Maybe that saves a lot of money? That could be. I actually like the positioning. I think it'll allow for better sightlines on both stages. It also could be that the space just looks much smaller without any crowds there. I've noticed that at Forecastle before it filled up and at other concerts with outdoor stages. I bet they could still hold 10k+ both days, which with the lineup, seems reasonable. I'm guessing none of the acts booked topped 100k, and not too many were over 50. I have high hopes it will be a success. EDIT: Used the google machine to find a talent booking site. Both Walk the Moon and Ben Harper cost 75 to 150 each, and Revivalists, Bishop Briggs and Andrew McMahon are all between 40 and 75. Compared to Bunbury's headliners this year, their headliners are very cheap. Both The 1975 and Fall Out Boy are between 300 and 500, and GVF is between 500 and a million (Holy shit!). Blink, Jack WHite,Incubus, and Chainsmokers are all 500-1 million as well. Foster the People costs between 300 and 500. So even if the crowds are a third or less the size of Bunbury, we have to remember they're only paying about 25% of what Bunbury does for headliners. Also, its clear Bunbury spent WAY more on its lineup last year. I don't think it was close if these numbers are correct

I have to say. I like some of these acts and if I can see multiple ones for essentially the price of seeing on at Express Live, with potentially the same sized crowd, I will be elated!

My attitude exactly. I'm doing just Saturday for the 45$ presale price. An INCREDIBLE steal since Walk the Moon Tickets to their last Indy show were 45 bucks. Add in Revivalists, Bishop, and Andrew McMahon whose shows are all 25 to 35, plus Morgxn, Chelsea Cutler and more and I was SOLD. that's well over a $125 value at least if you look at it as opposed to going to their individual shows. Not to mention parking drinks, all that. I really like this pricepoint and lineup. Hope this fest makes it.

I'm pretty stoked for tomorrow. I know Sunday will be hot, but 85 and overcast of Saturday is about the best you can hope for in mid August. Really hope this event draws well. I would love to it to return with similar acts next year.

Looks like parachute is one of the early surprise winners

I was pretty negative on things a few weeks out but everything I've seen lately has me pretty excited for this. I saw on Reddit a lot of people were pretty stoked about the lineup so that's good. The Rhinegeist Oasis thing they teased on their Instagram story looked pretty neat.

This fest definitely has potential. Good music, good vibes. Feels like an upscale version of a free Radio Station sponsored single band show in a public space

My only suggestion is a bigger space and maybe a slightly different layout, but for a first time festival, they really pulled it off. For anyone who wasn't there, the crowd was very strong. Probably not over 10k there today, but the festival grounds were full and I have a very good feeling we'll have another one next year. For the level of bands they brought and the ticket prices, I think this was a good crowd. Like you said, upscale version of a radio station show. Very well produced events

WonderBus was fantastic yesterday. Having the stages next to each other meant my group could sit between them and watch every show all day without leaving our spot. Food vendors might have suffered, but alcohol seemed to be busy the entire time. No congestion or lines anywhere with lots of options to choose from. Food and drink prices were very expensive though. My group had a great time and for the location and price point, we are strongly considering skipping Bunbury next year for this. Hoping they stick around and can pull off another great lineup in 2020!

Big time agree with everyone. The layout seemed wonky on the map but I think it actually is pretty good. You can wait in line for food/beer/bathroom and hear and see everything clear as day! I am VERY impressed and hope it’s seen as successful because I would absolutely like to go again next year. It felt pretty packed when Walk the Moon came on.
Also: The Revivalists where phenomenal! New fan of theirs for sure.

New fan of theirs for sure. The Revivalists KILLED IT. There were a lot of great performances, but I think they stole the show. The place was absolutely packed for them and WTM. Definitely agree about the food and drinks and restrooms and vendors. You can pretty much go anywhere and not miss anything. Good variety of food and drink, and the lines were not long at all, so that was a huge plus. Plenty of restrooms, ample shade. No real lines for water. The two main stages next to each other worked pretty well actually. We were able to walk back and forth easily and get good spots for all the performances. And the time between shows let us refill on water/get more beer. I think this festival will be back next year

For everyone who loved The Revivalists, they do a small festival every year in the lead singer's hometown of Hamilton just outside of Cincy. I went two years ago and really enjoyed it. The band has even more energy when they play at home. liveforlivemusic.com/news/2019-big-river-get-down/
