Lizzo has been announced as the headliner for pop station WZPL's Jingle Jam show here in Indy. That's an arena show with 18k capacity. Something tells me we'll see her at Bunbury next year and I think she could be a headliner. AT the very least the 4th or 5th spot.

It could turn into a Post Malone situation really fast. However, I was at Pride in Indy earlier in the day when she headlined a few months ago and the hype was huge then. The festival was crowded overall and a few folks were hugging the rail hours ahead of time, but it wasn't anything close to Post Malone. Didn't seem to be an issue there.

I'm fine with Lizzo, as long as they put a good rock act at the other end so I can avoid it.

Blink-182/Lil Wayne/Neck Deep
Neck Deep: Decent opening act. Only knew 2 songs.
Lil Wayne: One of the worst acts I've seen. Started off with his DJ coming out and playing snippets of random songs for 10 minutes. Then, out of nowhere, Wayne comes out and his concert is basically the equivalent of an iTunes teaser, as he played no more than a minute of any song.
Blink-182: Easily one of the most fun concerts I've been to. Hearing one of my favourite albums of all time (Enema of the State) played in its entirety was an experience. Also, Mark came out into the crowd with an acoustic bass and played a couple of songs. Then, Travis starts drumming and spinning around, upside down and everything. Just a super fun concert. If they didnt have a bad rep with promowest, they'd be a great friday night closer for bunbury.
Crowd wise, it was surprisingly packed. There must have been a huge radio giveaway or something.

Lizzo doesn't really do anything for me but I know my friends would be AMPED and probably sign up to go if she was on the bill so that would be an ok booking for me. Gotta think she'd close out like a Friday or Saturday.
One thing I don't understand about some of these super rabid fanbases is why they feel the need to be crammed up front where they can barely breath and still be 10 rows back for an act when you can still see them clear as day in the middle or back and hear and enjoy them just as much, if not more because you aren't piggybacking on the person in front of you due to your surroundings.

Would prefer Billie Eilish over Lizzo if they are going to go that route. As much as I despise top 40, having an artist in that realm guarantees ticket sales and they would really be dumb not to grab someone who is all over popular radio

I understand the concern over the crowd issues. That part would suck, but just a personal preference I prefer Eilish's music over Lizzo. Plus, I think she fits more into the alternative genre that Bunbury seems to target.

I'm just hoping they stick to their "iconic not mainstream". The past 2 years a pop artist has ruined several other acts (for me anyways). I mean sure it sells tickets, but to me Streetlight Manifesto at a fest is way more awesome than the 1975, a band that is constantly touring and aired on the radio.Maybe that's just a personal genre taste, but streetlight are iconic in their genre and don't tour that often. I think Post Malone was an accident, he kind of blew up a few months before hand. If they get mainstream pop acts, dedicate a stage to that genre or around that genre. No punk or metal before pop, or the other way around. If we have a band like Sum 41 or Angels and Airwaves on a stage, do not put someone like Lizzo, Billie Eilish, or Lil Nas X on the same stage. Sorry for the rant lol

A new press release makes it seem like Taylor Swift will be hitting a lot of festivals this summer.
"The Lover album is open fields, sunsets, + SUMMER. I want to perform it in a way that feels authentic. I want to go to some places I haven’t been and AND PLAY FESTIVALS. WHERE WE DIDN'T HAVE FESTIVALS, WE MADE SOME. Introducing, Lover Fest East + West!
We all no there's no chance of her coming to Bunbury but it think this guarantees her for Coachella

That eliminates the Interrupters as well, which is a shame. They'd be a great boost to the undercard.

I told my girlfriend about the speculation of Lizzo and she immediately said while she'd want to see her she felt like it would definitely be a Post Malone situation. Which was funny because I didn't tell her about that part of the discussion on here. I'm curious is general masses would also feel that way.
I'm disappointed in the poll results. Some of the top vote getters wouldn't really interest me, but I've always been far more into undercards when it comes to festivals so maybe this shouldn't be a surprise.

He did mention beer lines being out of control but that's to be expected at Express Live for a sold out show imo. He didn't have much more to say about it other than that honestly. Next time I see I'll ask him if there were any die-hards like some of the other fanbases.

After 4 years of silence, The Airborne Toxic Event is coming back with shows in NY and LA in April. There will be more dates to follow. They are the reason I went to the first Bunbury in 2012. It's unlikely I would have ever gone without that booking. A return date to Bunbury in 2020 would be perfect.
