See, that's exactly what I thought when the original blink nationwide date was just a few days away but tickets prices did not go down. Also what I thought with the outlaw festival at nationwide, tickets did not go down either. My group bought tickets for Black Keys/Modest Mouse and paid $360 for 4 first row upper bowl tickets which isn't TERRIBLE, but still pretty damn pricey. The one benefit is you can guarantee that we will be jockeying to closer seats as the venue looks like it's gonna be fairly empty I can't understand the reasoning behind not lowering prices? Unless you've already been given guaranteed paychecks for each stop and you don't care what comes through the door, then I guess that would make sense. Otherwise, who the hell would want to be an artist and play in front of a 2/3s empty arena. Is upgrading seats once an undersold show starts difficult? I've never done it before. Wasn't sure if the security is lax in that scenario or if they are still hardcore about checking tickets. In my experience, with arena shows they only monitor the floor hardcore before the headliner comes on. Once they are on, they rarely check your ticket/wristband. For twenty one pilots 2 weeks ago, it was a sold out show and after the first song, 3 of my friends just walked onto the floor to meet my group and no one asked for a wristband. With seats, you generally can walk wherever you want. I've noticed that if you just keep walking a look like you know where you are headed, the ushers never say anything. You can also peek your head down the corridor to see if the ushers are checking others tickets before trying it. If you get called out just say "i'm so sorry, i'm from out of state" and then thank them once they direct you to where you should go. Also, with some shows that I'm DYING to get into the pit, I've photoshopped my PDF ticket to say it's GA PIT but did not modify the bar code. This way they can still scan me in at the front, but when I walk up to the usher they just see that it says GA PIT on it and they let me right in. Did this for Mumford and Sons, Brand New, Taylor Swift, Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead, Dead and Company, and John Mayer among many others. This doesn't work as much anymore because a lot of venues are doing the mobile only tickets now. Yes, I am an asshole, but it drives me nuts to see the pit/floor only 1/3 full and it's "Sold Out"...

LOL! I LOVE that you did that with the tickets! That's dedicated but man that is so smart. The mobile tickets thing annoys me to no end. I have Crew season tickets and there is always a fear my phone might run out of juice after a day of drinking before I can get to the night game haha. I'm going to start having to use some of these methods on undersold shows. I didn't realize people were so lax about the general seating area.

Came here to say this exact thing lol. I have 3 friends that went to the show last night and as they walked in, they were handing out STACKS of pit passes and moving people closer to the stage. I was told that Jiffy Lube Live in Virginia (that has a 26,000 capacity) had less than an estimated 8,000 attendees last night and that they moved almost everyone in the lawn down to the pavilion to try to fill seats.

i think we might have a slight chance of getting lizzo as a headliner due to her selling out express live.

i think we might have a slight chance of getting lizzo as a headliner due to her selling out express live. I think this could definitely be very possible, and if they're smart, they already locked her down. She's absolutely blowing up right now. I have a friend who is in charge of logistics for Indy Pride and he said their attendance doubled from 20,000 to 40,000 this year just because of Lizzo. They managed to book her for 10k just before she blew up.

She's already a sub-headliner at Music Midtown this year and I think she'll get bigger over the next six months.

By next year, I’d anticipate she could close down sawyer on one night. But having Lizzo headline a night is tough. While she is getting big she still doesn’t have as wide of an appeal. Like the difference between someone like Lizzo and a bonafide festival headliner is I’m not sure the casual music fan would still go see Lizzo. Say if it was like Cardi B or someone in a similar position, a casual music fan has probably heard several songs on the radio and would probably stop by a Cardi B show at a festival. I’m not sure you could say the same for Lizzo at this point

I think we’ll see a headlining or big DJ this year. I could honestly see Odesza headlining a night. But someone like Louis the Child subbing I could see also. I think Skrillex closing a night would be pretty solid. I know they’re trying to go with the iconic but not mainstream thing and I’d say he fits that mold. He doesn’t perform super often (or as often as most DJs), and is a pretty influential musician. At the same time I wouldn’t say most people consider skrillex to be mainstream
Edit: although, Whitney I know last year you said they were trying to avoid and lean away from electronic music. Is that still the case? I’m obviously just kind of thinking out loud but I think we can start to all agree that edm music is getting pretty popular

With the whole Lizzo thing, I can could see her being at Bunbury. I personally have never heard of her until this weekend, but someone at my apartment pool played her this weekend and the whole place went nuts so I would say she's likely in that Post Malone type segment where we snagged him right before he blew up

i've been looking at the forecastle lineup, and i'm thinking that we could possibly get a couple of the lower artists. we already know promowest reached out to caamp, but i was thinking we could snag yungblud or wheathan.

If you could pick 3 dream headliners for Bunbury, who would you pick? Only rules are that the band has to be active.
Here are my picks:
Friday - The Avett Brothers Saturday - Jack Johnson Sunday - Radiohead

Would also like to see A Day to Remember, but I wouldn't consider them a dream headliner lol.

It's been awhile since I have had any news, but I got a tiny snippet last night. Promowest approached Angels and Airwaves about coming to Bunbury and (...this is paraphrasing...) their management said they are testing out how touring goes on this fall tour but will likely entertain the idea. This mirrors what Tom has said in a lot of recent interviews when he refers to this smaller fall tour as a "warm up for things to come"

I am curious how long Bunbury can/will wait to for A&A to see how their touring goes. If they already have a headliner locked down, I assume they want to have bulk of the lineup booked before the new year.

I can’t imagine angels and airwaves headlines or closes a stage on a great lineup, or at least one that sells well. and I think if promowest is waiting for their fall tour it kind of confirms they wouldn’t headline, since they seem to be already locking in headliners

I'm not as familiar or into A&A in particular but on paper would definitely feel like a weak headliner if they went that route.

I’ll have to take back my comments on lizzo from earlier. Looks like her show this weekend in cincy was packed. Though it was only half of US bank, she could probably close sawyer point stage. Although I think having a schedule like Lizzo on the headlining stage into Tyler, the creator would be awesome and would sell very well. It’d add some much needed diversity as well
