I am ALL FOR this level of pettiness. You know at the end of the day it was very likely a case of the artist being offered more money in Europe than here so he bailed on the prior commitments.

It prevents fans from blaming the promoter and shifts the blame to the artist...like it should be.

I also bet that calling out artists and bringing attention to the real reasons they cancel will help prevent artists from pulling that shit in the future. Well done, Breakaway.

Okay, so i've never been super into Lizzo but I've been open to having her towards the top of the lineup. That being said, I just watched her Tin Desk concert and DAMN. They need to book her now, that performance was unreal. Her energy and attitude is completely unique to other artists out there right now. She'd be a super fun set and would be a great top hip hop/rap act.

Went and saw Beck and Cage the Elephant in Indy last night. Beck was fantastic, very good performance and I think he'd be a perfect headliner for Bunbury. Cage the Elephant on the other hand? Not so much. I was quite disappointed by a very mediocre performance. The band was great but Matt Shultz was the most messed up I have ever seen a frontman on stage. He was throwing himself around the stage and while it was entertaining, it was kind of sad to see him in that state. The music suffered too. Several songs sounded good, several sounded absolutely terrible, but most of them were just off a bit because of his state. He talked through some lyrics and others he slurred so badly you couldn't understand him. To top it off, after his performance, he somehow got to the very back of the venue (a 25k capacity amphitheater) and climbed up on top of the VIP pavilion and spent several minutes stumbling around on the roof to the cheers of fans. Overall, I was disappointed by Cage, but Beck more than made up for it. Spoon was good too and I was pleasantly surprised by Wild Bell

It wasn't a complete disaster, just below my expectations and its clear he wasn't all there and not giving his best possible performance. When he was dancing on the roof and then dangling from the awning, I was nervous he was going to hurt himself.

Overall I heard some positive reviews of Cage’s performance and also Beck’s but everyone I talked to noted how messed up Matt Schultz was on stage. He did the same thing where he made his way to the back of the venue and one of my friends got a really good close up video of him, and yeah let’s just say I’m not too sure he knew where he was. I usually don’t mind seeing an artist who might be drunk or high on stage. Hell, I’m sure most I’ve seen have been some combination of both, and it can maybe even lead to a better show (if you’ve seen the National live you know what I’m saying). But something about seeing someone like uncontrollably messed up on stage is really sad to see, especially if you were really looking forward to seeing them. Have never seen modest mouse but I’m not sure I want to

Modest Mouse was dull and kinda painful to sit through. We left after an incredibly unenthusiastic rendition of Float On

Fresh off the press, here is the newest info I got!
Promowest is currently in the final stages of signing a certain act that will be performing a 10 year anniversary performance at Bunbury 2020.
Anyone know some bands this might fit? I know Manchester Orchestra is doing one this fall, but it's 8 months before Bunbury

I'm going to that tour in December. Maybe they extend it into next summer? Bunbury definitely loves them.

Matt and Kim are currently on a 10 year anniversary tour that hits Cleveland, Columbus and Pittsburgh but not Cinci. Looks like Passion Pit also did one. Obviously both of these would be 2019 and not 2020 for 10 years. Hmmmmmm. Did your source say if it was in regards to an album the act put out or 10 years of being an act as a whole?

Actually it looks like Tame Impala's first album "Innerspeaker" came out in 2010!
Also Gorillaz "Plastic Beach" also came out that year. I dont know if they'd tour on that album though based on how many others that were bigger if they were to do a show for an album. Not to mention the lack of shows they do as Gorillaz in general and logistics of getting everyone in one place.
Also to come out with notable albums that year: Flying Lotus, Robyn, Caribou, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Beach House, LCD Soundsystem, Kanye West
I'm still firmly in the Tame Impala camp since it fits both of celebrating an album and being a band where as the others don't match up as well or are albums that weren't their biggest.
LCD Soundsystem came out with "This is Happening" so I could see that maybe being the case, and Bunbury was like THE ONLY festival not to get them when they did the 2 year reunion tour thing haha.

>Promowest is currently in the final stages of signing a certain act that will be performing a 10 year anniversary performance at Bunbury 2020.
Biggest albums of 2010 that'd necessitate a 10th anniversary retread:
1. Vampire Weekend - Contra 2. The Arcade Fire - The Suburbs 3. The Roots - How I Got Over 4. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream 5. Janelle Monae - The Archandroid 6. Bruno Mars - Doo-Wops & Hooligans 7. The Black Keys - Brothers 8. My Chemical Romance - Danger Days 9. Eminem - Recovery 10. The Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards 11. The National - High Violet
National seems the most likely at this point. Maybe Jack White since he's been doing a victory lap with all of his side projects lately. The others either seem too expensive or won't draw--and in MCR's case, if they actually do reform and tour, I'd be there day 1.

They're doing an arena tour this fall (even though it isn't selling well) and I am sure they're going to jump back on the festival scene. @funkymoses - they did not tell me any additional details. I just jumped to the conclusion that it was a 10 year album anniversary.

Is it likely someone like Black Keys or Vampire Weekend would do a tour based off an older album after just doing a tour off a new album the summer earlier? Actually didn't The National also just put one out too? Or are going to?

I’m gonna say the National are probably out with homecoming supposedly coming back in 2020. I think the 10th anniversary of brothers is pretty likely and I’d enjoy that since I missed Black Keys in 2015. Other than that if it’s contra I’ll freak out

I guess we'll have to keep an eye out for any tenth anniversary tour announcements coming up. If your source mentioned a specific anniversary, I assume the band in question is using that as tagline on the tour.

Once we see someone announce a 10 year album anniversary tour with dates in May/June, they're likely a high contender for Bunbury based on what I was told. Papa Roach is gonna have a 10 year anniversary coming...lol

Papa Roach, The Offspring, Sum 41, Korn, Limp Bizkit, just someone totally out of left field. Would be really funny (and secretly probably fun too!)
