Fresh off the press, here is the newest info I got! Promowest is currently in the final stages of signing a certain act that will be performing a 10 year anniversary performance at Bunbury 2020. Anyone know some bands this might fit? I know Manchester Orchestra is doing one this fall, but it's 8 months before Bunbury dear god please let it be anybody except manchester orchestra. they've played 3 times before and they are a terrible festival band. they need to stick to dark clubs.

Exactly what I was thinking. Once we see someone announce a 10 year album anniversary tour with dates in May/June, they're likely a high contender for Bunbury based on what I was told. Papa Roach is gonna have a 10 year anniversary coming...lol Lol I really wish Bunbury would book just like ONE of the acts like that from back in that time. Papa Roach, The Offspring, Sum 41, Korn, Limp Bizkit, just someone totally out of left field. Would be really funny (and secretly probably fun too!) Oh i could not agree more! We would all talk shit about a band like Papa Roach being on the bill but we would all be there singing along and having a good time. I'm down for it

I looked at the ticket maps for The Lumineers in both Indy and Columbus and they are selling surprisingly well. Both shows are 6 or so months away and are about 85% sold out. I never really thought of them as a hot ticket or major ticket mover, but they might be a good choice to headline. I'd be fine with that as long as the rest of the lineup is solid. No Cinci date and it appears likely they will do another pass on the festival circuit next year. They are booked the 5th and 6th, but open the 7th. I have a feeling we might get them as a Sunday headliner

Another band that's selling well and would be a pretty big ticket mover for an undercard is AJR. Not a big fan of their music, but have seen them twice now and they are a fun show, if a little immature and whiny. They do bring a VERY young fan base though, but, they're show in Indy at a 6,500 capacity arena is already essentially sold out 6 weeks out. I'd have to think Bunbury is trying to book them

does anybody think we could possibly get tool? I thought about that. One would think they'll hit festivals next year. Hot as they are, it would move tickets. Also, the new album is incredible.

The pessimist in me says that Bunbury isn't big enough to land them. I'm trying to keep my expectations really low after last year.

Unlikely, but possible. Tickets to the arena tour just went on sale and Indy is already sold out, save for obstructed seats, and Cinci is well, well on the way. Would it fit the festival? Who knows, tbh. Bunbury has kind of been all over the place with its bookings but I think its more likely at Bunbury than Forecastle

Here we go. Vampire Weekend announced at Express Live on Sept. 23, 2020. They are also at Stage AE in Pittsburgh on June 3, with an open schedule after. I'm going to move them to the "likely headliner" category.

That's crazy to release dates over a year in advance.

This would fall perfectly in line if they played their 2010 album Contra. Like I was told a few weeks back, they were in the final stages of booking an act to do a 10 year anniversary show. This lines up and makes sense!

I saw vampire weekend at Lollapalooza in 2018 and i think it’s my favorite show I’ve been to. They completely revamped their band lineup so they have a really full sound now and they’re just really fun live. Ezra keeps it light and they break into a lot of jams

Green Day is announcing a Summer Stadium Tour tomorrow with Weezer and Fallout Boy. I know Green Day is way too big for Bunbury but maybe Weezer could come back

Vampire Weekend doesn't do anything for me but that definitely lines up. Whitney do you think that's the band that had the song playing during your happy hour that your source said was already booked as a headliner?

I don't know how much money they command but they've been gone for awhile and their last album (or was it just a few singles?) wasn't overly celebrated and they played venues like Newport. They seem like a direction Bunbury is going booking wise and would draw much better than Blink 182 imo.

Bunbury always seems to hit all the 2000s nostalgia acts I think 1 of those 2 on that tour is a pretty safe bet that I’d be happy with.

Just so we don't confuse the limited info that I received so far, there have been two separate tips I received: 1) A band playing during happy hour at pins mechanical before the twenty one pilots show at the end of june was "already booked as a headliner" -We don't have any intelligent guesses as to who this is as I do not recall a specific artist playing while I was there 2) There is a band that was in the final stages of signing that plans to do a 10 year anniversary show at Bunbury.

I think tomorrow we should get a good idea of if Green Day or Weezer will be there as well.

Yup. Would I still love to see them? Yup. Should they headline? Nope. I would absolutely love to see Weezer hit that 8:30-9:30 spot though. For me, ever since my ears got assaulted by American Idiot, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and Wake Me Up When September Ends, I instantly get pissed off when I hear their music. I'm not denying that they're talented, but those songs were so overplayed that they made me absolutely despise the band. It's a real shame when bands get their songs murdered to this level. Fall Out Boy is kinda in the same bucket for me. Their first two albums were fire but they got murdered in my mind by the radio overplaying them to no end.

The Bullet in a Bible Live DVD, when they played overseas, was like on rotation at our apartment in college. I definitely hate some (probably a lot) of the songs off that album but I would definitely not hate to see Green Day play the hits at a festival.

I guess I'm in the Minority here (pun intended), but Green Day is an all time favorite of mine and the best live concert I have been to. FIngers crossed for an Indy or CBus date because I'd love to see them again and cross FOB and Weezer off the bucket list as well. My only issue is having three bands that are headline level on a single night probably limits them to about an hour each, or 90 minutes at most. All three have such deep catalogs.
