Band that are at Bonnaroo but NOT Governor's ball that I could see getting booked: Robert Plant Hozier twenty one pilots Gary Clark Jr. Tove Lo Dawes Awolnation Sylvan Esso Guster Bleachers Tycho MØ Glass Animals Courtney Barnett Hurray for the Riff Raff Temples Ryn Weaver Phox Gregory Allen Isakov Jessica Hernandez and The Deltas Do you know if Robert Plant plays a lot of Zeppelin stuff or does he only do newer stuff? I honestly don't see either going over well with a Bunbury crowd as a headliner.

Granted he could fly and play Sunday. Guster: Plays Bogarts with Kishi Bashi in April. They also though are playing Newport Music Hall and Stage AE, not sure if they Promowest connections makes them more of a possibility even with the Cincinnati show?

Looks like he does of mix of Zeppelin and solo material: www.setlist.fm/stats/robert-plant-3d6b19b.htmlI think he would be a nice choice for the older crowd, would probably move more tickets than The Flaming Lips

Good points, I didn't check the tour dates. I still think Hozier is possible, not sure on Guster.

Belle and Sebastian could be a possibility. They played two years ago and are about to embark on an American tour promoting their new CD in which they are already hitting some of the major festivals. Add to that Promowest booked them to play Columbus the week after Bunbury and they have nothing currently booked the weekend of Bunbury. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's probable, but it is possible.
They are also playing Bonnaroo but not the Governor's ball.

Jenny Lewis is playing both Coachella and Hangout, no dates though announced beyond that Moon Taxi is playing both Gov's Ball and Bonnaroo, Guess this would depend what day at Governor's Ball but could be a Sunday stop heading south to Bonnaroo Taylor Swift is in the area and available Friday and Sunday Panda Bear is playing several festivals and open as of right now in June, but now sure if he fits well.

Do you all think PromoWest will get some hip-hop and electronic acts? Or will they stick to mainly indie rock/pop

Jenny Lewis announced a May date in Louisville with Ryan Adams, so I think that lets both of them out.
Interpol announced a May Cincinnati date earlier today, so they're off the list.
Forecastle lineup is announced on 1/27.

Wakarusa (same weekend as Bunbury) announced their full lineup and just at a glance Big Gigantic are playing, and they are also playing Governor's Ball. We all probably guessed this, but I guess that proves that just because an act is playing Wakarusa or Governor's Ball doesn't mean they can't play Bunbury. www.wakarusa.com/artist-lineup/

Maybe wishful thinking, but why not Pixies? Their star has fallen a bit, and they seem to be billed at large festivals right around where our headliners usually are.
Plus, it would be their first Cincinnati appearance in 24 years....

I don't think the Pixies are wishful thinking at all. Especially if Promowest really is bringing more money to the table for the talent.
It would be a little better of a chance if Kim Deal was still in the band. Not that she was bringing the band here before she left though.

Foo Fighters are on the east coast and are open the entire festival? Too big? Too big and not the right sound for this festival. Fallout boy was already a stretch for this festival. Now The Killers... I think the Foo Fighters are way to big, but I do think they can be the right sound for this festival. Everyone at least likes the Foo Fighters.

The undercard has some great stuff. Those headliners are lackluster.

I disagree. I think the headliners are great for tat festival. MMJ Louisville natives. Widespread will bring the hippies, which IMO really help bring out the will to be weird in everyone else at a festival and Sam Smith is one of the biggest names out right now. Really nice mix for headliners to get a bunch of different people through the doors. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions though.

And yes, that undercard does have some nice stuff for everyone. I think bunbury could learn a thing or two about a diverse lineup from forecastle.

The undercard has some great stuff. Those headliners are lackluster. I wasn't particularly blown away by the lineup. But then again, my typical operating rhythm is to see who Bunbury announces and then get to know their work. I honestly don't know a lot of the bands at Bunbury until I listen after theyve been an announced. I need to be better in tune with the scene but local radio is no help and I'm SURROUNDED by country fans. I wish I worked a job (like my GF does) that allows her to have her ear buds in and listen to indie rock stations on Spotify. She knows all the bands and tells me what I should check out. Any suggestions on how to get into it better otherwise? Modest Mouse being at Forecastle makes me think they won't be doing Bunbury since it's so close in distance and time. Gaslight was really good the first year at Bunbury, and Cage was awesome (they could have been a headliner or a second to last band, not sure why the played so early). You can keep Sam Smith. I only know his one Tom Petty song. Still holding out for the Decemberists!

I'm not big into the headliners, but that's just my opinion. I think they definitely have some solid undercard bands. I'd like to see Empires and Milo Greene again, and definitely would love to have Desaparecidos.

I was hoping we'd get Alvvays, as they released one of the best records of last year. Alas, I strongly doubt we'll be seeing ANY of these bands in Cincinnati.

Alvvays are touring with the Decemberists this spring. the Decemberists will be at the governors ball the same weekend as bunbury and the alvvays weren't on governors ball lineup. Maybe they come here? Maybe both since the Decemberists could play a fri/sun arrangement.

Hopefully sooner than that. I've got a summer trip to Portland I need to plan, and would like to know if I can free that weekend up.

I haven't cross referenced with their tour schedules yet, but here are a few bands I could see possibly being on the lineup:
Decemberists - New album, haven't been to cincy in a while Father John Misty - New album, getting bigger every day War On Drugs - huge year for them last year, could see them on the MainStage this year Ryan Adams / Jenny Lewis - Recent albums from both, haven't been to cincy in a while Strand of Oaks - Played MOTR earlier this year, but his album hadn't really gained the acclaim it has now Sharon Van Etten - Great new album, on tour currently St. Vincent - fingers crossed on this one!

St. Vincent would be AMAZING, but she's playing Nelsonville the weekend before. Probably too close, in both location and date.

#JUSTANNOUNCED at Newport Music Hall - Royal Blood on June 4th! Tickets go on sale Friday at all Ticketmaster outlets! Announced from Promowest... You don't think they would have them play Bunbury right after do you? Well, since both events are from Promowest, that would most likely bypass any clauses in the contract. So they'd be in the area for that weekend... But then again, that would kind of be a stupid move considering people from Columbus might've decided to travel to Bunbury to see Royal Blood if they do in fact come to Bunbury. I'm really not sure what to make of this announcement.

Promowest hasn't booked Bunbury in the past but pretty sure that each of the last three years there have been artists that have played in Columbus and at Bunbury during the same weekend (Bear Hands last year, Tegan & Sara and Fun the year before). Wouldn't surprise me at all if Royal Blood plays Bunbury.

It just seems weird to me that Promowest would take away the possibility of people traveling from Columbus to see just Royal Blood. But I guess if both events are theirs, they're making money either way.
