Boston Calling is releasing their lineup tomorrow Firefly also coming out tomorrow. Probably means they are sharing a headliner since they both held out a little longer than I think we expected. It'll be interesting to see who they all get. Curious on everyones thoughts. Do we think this means they have MCR and that MCR will announce a tour with those dates? Maybe throw in a placeholder for a Bunbury date too?

It'll be interesting to see who they all get. My Chemical Romance maybe? I can see an American tour getting announced tomorrow to go along with headlining dates. Would also make sense if they truly are in the mix for Bunbury. I have not looked at the dates to see if they have already booked those dates. Hoping for a Rage Against the Machine extended tour announcement though. I don't have any hope for them at Bunbury but would really like to see them show up somewhere in the vicinity Edit - Whitney beat me to it. Took too long to think out my post. LOL

We technically know the Boston Calling headliners unless something changed so it would be interesting if MCR is on that lineup but not a headliner for one of the days but pulled out of coachella (rumored) because they weren't a #1 on one of the days. But I can't see them beating out Foo Fighters, RHCP or Rage Against the Machine as a #1 so? Would certainly love to know their mindset on things if they do end up on that lineup as a #2 on one of the days.
I definitely feel like they are a band that fits the booking/genre patterns of Firefly so I expect them to be on that one at least. And they would definitely be a headliner.

Firefly is June 18-22 and MCR has shows at Stadium MK in the UK on the 18, 20, 21. Then Tuesday the 23rd in Ireland. Unless they're flying there and back to perform Friday or Monday, I don't think Firefly is likely which means if a shared headliner was delaying both lineups it's probably not MCR.

Someone who seems to be in the know on things on Inforoo kind of stated Rage Against the Machine is one of the headliners for Firefly. If so that would be a massive get for that festival.

Consequence of Sound tapped them for the third Boston Calling headliner a while back. If Firefly and BC share them as a headliner, it'd explain why they both delayed announcement and then announced on the same day (today). Maybe today RATM is adding more tour dates and these festivals are part of that tour.

Full lineup to come soon. I hate Foo Fighters almost as much as I hate any movie Jack Black or Nicholas Cage is in, but I can respect that top lineup as a damn good booking that'll likely sell out. Well done Boston Calling!

Well done Boston Calling! How well-attended was Boston Calling last year? It doesn't seem big enough capacity-wise to draw those names - but tickets are twice as much as Bunbury or Firefly so they probably have the budget.

From Wikipedia... "The festival debuted in May 2013 and previously took place twice a year, May and September, at City Hall Plaza. The festival reportedly attracted 20-22,000 fans with its earlier editions, eventually drawing roughly 40,000 festival goers in 2017" That's 2017 and not 2018 though. Not sure if 40,000 is total or per day.

For me at least, it's refreshing to NOT see as many rap and edm headliners this year. Those genres really don't do anything for me

They sound great but you'd think they'd have more stage presence.

They sound great but you'd think they'd have more stage presence. I went to one of their first comeback shows in Cleveland in the fall and it was kinda the same deal for me. Granted, I was in the back of the house of blues so the sound was absolutely awful, but Tom just looked like his back pain was getting the best of him and just kinda stood there and looked awkward...

He could lay down on stage and sing on his back for all I care lmao. I don't expect a blink medley at a fest but that would be dope

On the flip side of Boston Calling kind of disappointing other than the top line - Firefly PACKED it.

boston calling is out. some great undercard acts, but not incredible Friday night looks incredibly stacked with The Districts, PUP, Sharon Van Etten, The Struts, Noname, and Brittany Howard. Hoping we end up with some of those. Would also love to see Orville Peck and Phoebe Bridgers, but Bunbury seems to be moving away from that kind of indie, leaning more into radio friendly alt pop.

Boston Calling VIP is $1000, and GA is $400....you need to stack a lineup more if you charge those kind of prices. Top 2 lines are great though.

Looks like they blew the entire budget they drew from tickets priced that high on those two top lines. I see a lot of names I like in the undercard but no bookings that will draw a big crowd.

Firefly also bumped the price from $230 early bird to $300 phase one for GA.

I think the Firefly lineup proves that our Blackbear guess was correct Billie Eilish could support her being on Bunbury, too - I think this is her only US festival date so far other than Hangout.

Am I alone in preferring Boston Calling to Firefly? It seems like Boston Calling did a better job of getting the indie acts that put out phenomenal albums in the last year, whereas Firefly went with big established names that have a lot of radio play. Maybe I've changed since I had a daughter in the last year, do I listen to dad music now?

Yes- both Hangout and Firefly are AEG fests, and AEG owns Promowest. This is looking more likely. Also, nice comeback for Firefly! Not quite what it used to be, but a BIG step up over last year. There are a lot of bands I'd like to see, a nice variety, and a noticeable effort for more female artists. Kinda surprised Halsey is a headliner and Maggie Rogers is #6 though.
