Billie Eilish could support her being on Bunbury, too - I think this is her only US festival date so far other than Hangout. Yes- both Hangout and Firefly are AEG fests, and AEG owns Promowest. This is looking more likely. Also, nice comeback for Firefly! Not quite what it used to be, but a BIG step up over last year. There are a lot of bands I'd like to see, a nice variety, and a noticeable effort for more female artists. Kinda surprised Halsey is a headliner and Maggie Rogers is #6 though. Halsey is one of the biggest current artists with a new cd

Initial Thoughts on Firefly:
Man it's going to really stink for Firefly when Blink pulls out at some point close to the festival dates.
Solid lineup top to bottom, a really big comeback year after last year (from what I remember, people were saying the attendance was pretty brutal).
Love that they were willing to book a few top tier female artists (cough Bunbury cough).
If Cage the Elephant is still a headliner for Forecastle (as rumored) that seems a bit problematic since they are a number 3 line act here.

I went to one of their first comeback shows in Cleveland in the fall and it was kinda the same deal for me. Granted, I was in the back of the house of blues so the sound was absolutely awful, but Tom just looked like his back pain was getting the best of him and just kinda stood there and looked awkward... meh tom's one of my idols. He could lay down on stage and sing on his back for all I care lmao. I don't expect a blink medley at a fest but that would be dope I was at that Cleveland show in the back at house of blues and still thought he did a great set. First time ever seeing Tom live and the wife and I loved it so much we bought tickets to his second round of shows in Louisville where I felt the crowd was so bleh that it affected the show. He needs his crowds to be invested in the art he’s creating and Kentucky wasn’t doing it and he reacted in kind.

Not a large festival by ANY stretch, but Yellow Springs puts on a nice little one day festival that has scored some nice artists in the past. Here are a few past posters: 2018 was my favorite year so far.... CAAMP was awesome. I think this year is their 5yr anniversary and they are switching things up a bit as well. Might be a BIG year for them? There website seems to be "busted" at the moment (https://www.springsfestival.com/)

Something In The Water in Virginia Beach has an insane lineup if you're into hip-hop, along with a few rock acts that are big draws (Foo Fighters, Beck, Head and the Heart, Lany). I expected it to be far more expensive for this lineup!

Can I just add that this festival is more expensive than all of the best festivals in Ohio. Sonic Temple is below 200 for ga WITH fees. I believe Inkarceration is just over. If you take a gander at either one they are clearly better as well. Even if you don’t like the genres I’m sure you’d be able to recognize most of the names and tell the work put into it

Got mine for 100 early bird and went up to 175 (for stadium ga) field ga was like 225 I think. Honestly field probably did get up to 300. Sorry I’m used to basing off of stadium

Incredible value for price with those lineups vs this years Bunbury

Sonic Temple is the best festival of the year in my opinion. It could be a bit more diverse, but most rock genres and some hip hop / rap are covered. And the price is right. I will be at both Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville (which is a similar lineup) this year. I was hoping to round those out with Bunbury, but there isn't enough there for me. I guess we will see what Forecastle and Bourbon and Beyond bring this year.

I saw this earlier. Not super impressed. Especially since GBV headlines the same fest a couple years ago. It was great, but I'm not a big fan overall and certainly don't really want to see them again per se.

I believe I paid $40 to see GBV at the Woodward last summer, so this is a bargain no matter how you look at it.

Personally I'm not interested in seeing them again at all. I'm currently listening to some of the others because I haven't heard of any of them. Maybe something will grab me like Caamp and Adam Remnant did a couple years ago

Okay, Sonic Temple guys (and gals) I bought Sonic Temple because I've never seen Metallica and it just seemed like somebody I wanted to experience sometime in my life. I'm not a die hard but figured there would be plenty else to see there. After the lineup release it kind of left me without much excitement.
I like Metallica and being a guy in my 40s I like some of the old acts, specifically Sublime, Rancid, Cypress Hill, and Suicidal Tendencies. I'm not big on Slipknot. I like Royal Blood and I'm sure Evanascence will put on an entertaining enough show.
Based on this info or just based on what you like, who on the lineup should I check out more closely to raise my excitement level for Sonic Temple?
Last year had tons I would have been excited about. I was just busy that weekend.

THey basically started out playing death metal and then slowing became more pop. Check out some of their stuff on the youtube machine and I think you'll like them

Slipknot is good live whether you like their music, Staind really surprised me at LTL last year as being fantastic. Aaron Lewis actually wants to be there now. And do not, DO NOT miss Dropkick Murphys.

Getting in a good mix of hard rock, thrash, punk and a little bit of different but should still work: Friday: Metallica, Royal Blood, Dirty Honey, Goodbye June, Bones UK, Dregg, Hellyeah, Testament, Jinjer -- Not a fan of Sublime w/ Rome Saturday: Staind, Alter Bridge, Cypress Hill, Pennywise, Fire From The Gods, Dinosaur Pile-Up, BRKN Love Saturday: Metllica, Brass Against, Rancid, Code Orange, Suicidal Tendencies (though they avoid some of their more popular songs now), Crobot, The Hu -- If you've seen Dropkick once, you've already seen their show.

Dirty honey has a classic sound similar to GnR if you’re into that. Hellyeah is a supergroup of Mudvayne. My personal can’t misses are Jinjer (heaviest female fronted act I know), Ice Nine Kills (horror themed punk band), and the Hu (a Mongolian metal band that is on fire). There’s plenty of playlists out there that I recommend listening to even just 30 seconds of all the bands to get an idea of their sound. Sonic Temple is a whole lotta fun.

I make my own playlists to get an idea, but with so much time before the festival I like to take bands and dig a bit deeper into them. Just wanted to get a few good ones to start with rather than just picking bands at random. I have no doubt I will check out Antrhax and Testament while there.
