So I went all 3 days to Sonic Temple Arts and music Festival and I thought I’d shed some light on it for those of you who didn’t go.
First things first, this fest was way better than rock on the range. IMO -The parking/traffic was handled extremely well and flowed quickly and smoothly from my experiences. -the amount of art and artists around the fest added such a refreshing vibe and added even more to do. -the security was pretty relaxed and nice, compared to past years where they have been real rude and sticklers. (I know it’s good to be strict with security, but only to a certain point) The festival seemed to communicate much better with the fan base overall. -and most importantly the evacuation was handled SO MUCH better than the years past. They can’t control the weather, but we only had to wait about one and a half hours, and during that time it was actually storming.
What this says to me is that DWP really did try and make improvements. I see this festival remaining pretty strong. This does make me worried as if AEG was really the problem for ROTR, now bunbury is owned by them. Hopefully AEG doesn’t ruin bunbury.

I agree that they create very good and well curated lineups, but there is so much more that a festival needs than just the list of bands that play. I just don’t want AEG to kill the fun and relaxed nature of our fest

Yeah Sonic Temple had much much better security. Very understanding and seemed to actually enjoy the fest unlike the past 5 years I've been.

Surprised but happy to see Governor's Ball is selling very well this year. About 1,000 Saturday tickets left, and that day will sell out. VIP tickets for all three days are almost gone. Saturday is definitely their most stacked day of the fest with Florence, Major Lazer, The 1975 and Kacey Musgraves all in one day. Single day capacity for that fest is 50k, so that's a fair amount of tickets. I bring this up because I'm curious to see how much of that is because of The 1975 and how many tickets they will move for Bunbury.

The riot fest lineup has been really great the past years that I've been paying attention to it! I really need to make a trip to it at some point.

According to the Festive Owl, Bonnaroo is close to selling out, and may set attendance records this year. Speculation is 100k. This comes just three years after setting an all time low of 45k in 2016.

Obviously I want Roo to be successful, but it’s kinda sad that this lineup is drawing twice as much as that. Headliners like Post Malone and Cardi B at Roo just seems disappointing. And sadly, we may see them shift further toward that with this success

Actually they're playing 3 sets. One on Friday, two on Sunday still overkill even for roo Oh I totally agree. I think it was a lazy booking to put them on Friday too. 2 sets on Sunday is plenty. They could have gotten another rock headliner (Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Florence, Black Keys, etc.) but I feel like they really phoned it in. The undercard is actually very strong this year, but the Headliners are really lacking.

Festival Owl just tweeted the Mamby on the Beach lineup and it’s pretty stacked (no idea how to imbed a tweet so I’ll just wait until it’s announced tomorrow). For a small festival on a beach it’s not a bad lineup at all.

Bunbury had its problems this year, but at least things didn't go south like Gov Ball. Festive Owl tweeted a crazy video of people rioting and vandalizing an art display because day 3 was cancelled due to nasty weather.

I remember reading (here maybe?) that Govs Ball was selling tickets pretty well compared to the past few years. I always wonder if something like what they had to go through would doom a festival going forward. It's a LiveNation/AC Presents festival I think so I would think it'd be fine but that was kind of my first thought when I saw all the weather (and then idiots rioting) issues they had over the weekend.

I guess they didn't handle the weather as well as they could have, but there's no excuse for that. I would NOT want to go to a festival with that kind of fan base.

Bonnaroo has officially sold out. Apparently lines to get in for camping are backed up to the point of a 12 hour wait. Not a good look.

Come on though...we have all been in really bad traffic and 12 hours doesn't even seem physically plausible. How would you not run out of gas?

Come on though...we have all been in really bad traffic and 12 hours doesn't even seem physically plausible. How would you not run out of gas? Lol so I can actually add to this. My friend and I went in 2015 and we drove from Columbus to Manchester (which is roughly 7 hours) and left Wednesday morning around noon. After stops and what not we got to the big gas station a few exits down the interstate (thanks for the suggestion of friends that have been there before) to load up on fuel and use the bathroom. There was a gas station off the exit to get into Bonnaroo but it was slammed with people getting gas. Then you turn onto this really narrow one lane back country road. Let's say it was like 8pm when we got in "line" and I kid you not, we did not get through the gates and to our parking spot until 5am on Thursday. We sat in that line and eventually took naps with the car off for half hours at a time before we would hear everyones cars would start up and the line would move a little bit again. It was absolutely insanity. We watched numerous tow trucks drive by with cars that clearly ran out of gas and were bringing them to the gas station at the interstate exit to start the process all over again. Once we finally go through the car check and to our camping spot it was like a total free for all to set up your campsite in the dark and try to maximize as much of the room you had as possible before others encroached on your area. Hahaha it was totally fun and I would certainly consider going back again but I remember getting there and getting set up and what not to be an absolute nightmare.

It was definitely stressful up until we got the 3 hours of sleep before we woke up on Thursday to start the weekend.

Looks like Railbird is selling very well, at least according to their marketing. Happy to see that. Not really enticed by their lineup but it seems like it has a lot of potential to grow if this year goes well.

Word is on Reddit that Firefly attendance is WAY, WAY, down. Supposedly they have sold about 43,000 total tickets, compared to 90k when the festival peaked. I've seen photos and it looks like a ghost town.

Has some solid undercard bookings but nothing at the top that really interests me or sets it apart from anything else. Not bad, just meh. I thought last year's was pretty good actually.
